An historic hotel but unfortunately very dated. It is clean enough and the housekeeping staff are very good but the wifi is terrible and you could give the breakfast a big miss. (Just go to the Flywheel Coffee Roasters 100 yards down the road)
My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary and this was our first stop for 3 nights. The location was great for exploring Golden Gate Park and the Haight neighborhood. The breakfast was a great surprise with bacon, eggs, sausage etc. as well as afternoon tea...More
Hotel represents good value in comparison to other city options. Clean and tidy with good breakfast options nice change from the chain hotels. For a short trip to visit the city as a tourist it's a bit to far from the centre. The hotel could...More

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
