We enjoyed our stay. The room was a little small but it was comfortable and clean. It is an older building but they've kept the rooms up nicely. The staff were friendly and helpful. We'd definitely go back!
I am so glad I picked up this hotel. I was not excepting this.. I got better than I could have imagined. It wasn't my first time in SF so I knew that the location was perfect. The staff was amazing to me, especially HYDEN who had been such a sweetheart, doing his best to help me. Thank you a million Hyden, you have been amazing to me. I will deffo come back again. My trip went smoothly thanks to you. Definitely recommending this hotel. It's perfectly well located, it's clean and affordable.
I stayed here with my wife and baby and found it to be perfect for what we needed, reasonably cheap and child-friendly in a great location. A short walk from the Union Square shopping area and 30 seconds from a cable car stop, which takes just a few minutes to reach most of the attractions. The rooms are basic but clean and have a good shower. Would happily stay here again.
If old hotels aren't your style, don't go. If you want a great location without the price, friendly service, continental breakfast, go! We spent four nights here and would definitely return. This place is walking distance 2 minutes to Union Square, 3 blocks from the entrance to Chinatown, 20 minutes to North Beach, 10 minutes to Powell Street Bart Station.
I stayed here for three nights and once I had explored the area found it a great located hotel. 2 mins from Union Square and only 30 mins walk from Pier 39. I stayed on the ground floor at the rear of the hotel. Extremely quiet at night and big windows so lots of natural light in the room. Large size room and adequate bathroom. Very good value for money. Would return definitely.
Hotel was about what I expected - clean and functional but nothing special. Location was perfect for our needs, convenient to BART, pleanty of food options. Staff was friendly and helpful. Mattress in our first room was pretty uncomfortable, second room was fine.
Very disappointing. They tried canceling our stay on the day we arrived (after traveling from the east coast) even after confirming our reservation 7 days prior. They even said that the city would be reopened on 6/1/20 which was a lie. This was a wasted 13th birthday trip for our daughter. No coffee or breakfast inside, no fridge in the rooms, no lock on the bathroom doors and a horrible view of a wall. The cleaning staff is what earned them a 2 star because they would have gotten a 0 star. Over priced and very undelivered
This hotel is very reasonably priced compared to a lot of hotels in San Francisco, and it is only a 20-25 minute walk away from the waterfront and the main tourist attractions. A continental breakfast is included in the price and the staff were pleasant. There's no resturant onsite but there a plenty of eatries within a few minutes walk. The only issue I had was with the radiator in the room which seemed to come on and off automatically especially during the day which seemed like a waste, but perhaps I was not using the controls properly.
The hotel is dated a bit and could use some amenities in the rooms but overall I would definitely come back here. Checking in and out was extremely easy, everyone was nice not rude and the free coffee and pastries was good. The location had to be my favorite thing about staying at the Grant Hotel. My only issue was that on one night of our stay the room was not cleaned but they took the bed sheets and blanket and never replaced them leaving us without any sort of blanket, but after letting the front desk know they later brought us a sheet and thin blanket.
The Grant Hotel is indeed very well located. It is in a walking distance to many San Francisco "to see" touristic places. If you like to walk, it is even possible to go to Chinatown, to the Embarcadero, to SFMoMa, to the city administration buildings nearby to the great SF Public Library and SF Asian Art Museum. Also, there are MANY restaurants nearby to Grant Hotel. The hotel is clean, and the amenities are OK. However, the breakfast is not really a breakfast. It includes pastries and coffee, that's all, nothing else. Also, in my experience guests do not behave very well. The hotel managers should have more strict policies for noisy guests, to avoid bothering people trying to sleep. Ah, there are also two nearby small markets, and a loundry shop. Very convenient.
