I was searching for a hotel that was well kept, friendly and close to everything well I found it in this hotel. Lisa was working the front desk that day and she went above and beyond for us, I had a rough day and right away she made me feel welcome and gave me an upgrade wow! I didn't even...

I was looking for something close to the Moscone Center at a decent price and The Pickwick Hotel was perfect. The Powell BART station is just a block away so it was easy to take the train to/from the airport. The hotel is an easy walk to Moscone as well as Union Square so lots of access to shopping and...

A fairly basic central older style city hotel with a large firmish bed in a fairly small room. The noise from the street was not too bad although the rubbish trucks and street sweepers provided a brief wake up at around 3am. Good wi-fi connection in the room. The best feature was the proximity to the city transport system (near...

Good: great staff, very helpful, small feeling, not "busy", safe feeling, good location. Bad: room smelled badly when entering (like a sewer), rickety feeling bed, doors etc. Outside air-co is so loud that there is a constant buzz in the room (and is asked for a quiet room). No breakfast on-sure (staff directed me to Mel's)

Stayed at the hotel and had a nice time. The rooms were modernly furnished. Wifi was free. The people at the front desk were helpful with questions. The restaurant and bar was lively and convenient. A walk outside takes you to the heart of the shopping and theatre district. Highly recommended. The price was not out of this world, for...

I was here for an interview and thought that even though the hotel is located in a great area and had a relatively high room rate, it was quite ghetto. Very old, looks like it hadn't been maintained in years, the rooms were VERY small, no room service, all in all a very shoddy and subpar experience. Spend the extra...

This hotel has everything you need and nothing you don't need. It also has a great diner next door. It is also in a great location. When I arrived I found my room was noisy (right on the corner) and I knew with my jet lag it would prevent me sleeping. But one of the managers Randy Millares immediately found...

My company consistently books me at the pickwick due to its location and price. I have had other problems with this hotel. Such as maid service knocking every hour on the hour starting at 545am. Then over charging me for room fee. This latest trip the woman at the desk told me they had my reservation online (pre-paid) however I...

The most run-down hotel I've ever stayed at. The elevators failed so they taped over the button for the floor where it was failing rather than pay for a technician to come out on a Sunday. The room needed a paint job about 10 years ago. The tired mattresses had "Sheraton exclusive" labels -- I didn't even know there was...

I always stay at the Pickwick when in SF, and am very happy each time. The location is perfect; the rooms are clean and have everything I need, albeit a little small. This is to be expected in the city though. The fitness room has everything I want, is well aired and the windows open to the hustle and bustle...

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.

“I am satisfied with most everything - I know most of those that maintain the rooms - i have seen a few turn overs - but really do not know why they have left. All in all - my stay has been pleasant and I have a good relationship with the Managers and the receptionists - more business and less personal.”
