We booked a last minute deal for a Thursday night. This hotel was by far the cheapest and in the heart of SF. Minutes from the wharf, restaurants, little Italy and the cable cars! Had a simple king sized room, clean, warm water, nice bathroom, linens were in fine condition...the hotel itself is old but your room felt safe. Cool...

Looking for an affordable hotel in San Francisco near Fisherman's Wharf? That can be hard to do. But staying at The Columbus Inn met both requirements for us. And bonus - FREE on-site parking! The room was quiet even though it faced the street. It was super clean, and big. The Columbus Inn is conveniently located to Little Italy, Lombard...

No frills, clean comfortable place to stay. Great location 5 mins walk to fishermans warf and tour bus stops. No breakfast but check out Pat's cafe just across the road on Taylor, a real gem. Reception staff really pleasant and accomodation.

Very comfortable and great location. Clean with friendly and helpful staff. Free parking is a big bonus. Public bus also stops right in front of hotel. Great Indian restaurant right across the street - Kennedy's

Clean and spacious room. Nothing fancy and we asked for the quietest room (so no view) but the location can't be beat if you want to be able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, eat in North Beach and hop on a cable car. No charge for parking which was a pleasant surprise in this City.

We booked a double queen room for four people, and they gave us a suite with two rooms separated by a door, with a shared bathroom. The suite was very spacious and clean, and had everything we needed. The towels were white and smelled fresh. The bathroom was basic, but usable. Toiletries were included and the room also had a...

This is an older hotel that is located more in a neighborhood but has a great location to many of the various sights of the North Beach, Fishermen's Wharf, Marine Park Areas. The hotel staff is friendly & helpful, the rooms are well kept and comfortable. Free parking comes with each room reservation and this is great due to the...

Hotels in San Francisco are very expensive. In 2011 we stayed at the Chancellor Hotel in Union Square but there were no vacancies this time, so I looked for other options. Eventually I found the Columbus Motor Inn, which had better rates and also free parking, which is an exceptional value for SF. Location is very good, the neighborhood is...

I chose this hotel because it was very difficult to find a hotel in this area that we could stay in one room as a family of 5. Another plus is free parking. The hotel has a wonderful location, close to everything, walking distance to most attractions. The rooms are spacious. However, the hotel is so run down and creepy!...

Hotel is definitely outdated. Room was quite large, bed was comfortable, but furnishings, bathroom fixtures are old. Best thing about it was price which includes free parking and the location was great - close to Fisherman's Wharf, Starbucks and a Walgreens. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Washington Square area in North Beach with lots of great restaurants. I'd probably...

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
