My family of four stayed at this lovely hotel in late September. The service we experienced with all the staff from the minute we arrived was professional and friendly. The location is great, in a very nice part of town, close to both cable car lines, and some great Nob Hill neighborhood restaurants. This hotel is full of history which...

This hotel was great! Comfortable, luxurious rooms. Great room service and customer service at this hotel. We used the valet parking, and it was fast and easy. Checkin and checkout was a breeze. The only complaint i have is the breakfast buffet wasn't as delicious as i'd have hoped. I would highly recommend this hotel.

As mentioned above, the hotel is located on the Nob Hill one of the best places in San Francisco. The hotel itself is a great art deco building. Rooms are big, you may choose between the bay view and city view, not sure what is the best. Employees and management are very nice.

We stayed two nights between Christmas and New Years to celebrate our anniversary and booked one of the suites with a terrace. San Francisco is our favorite city away from home and we've lost count of the number of times we've visited. We've always wondered about staying on Nob Hill, as it's literally above the hustle and bustle of the...

Hotel is old and due for renovations. Beds are very uncomfortable! Restaurant is extremely over priced. Breakfast buffet is expensive and not good. The service at the restaurant is very uninviting. Lobby furnitures are worn out. Concierge was arrogant! Valet is mandatory and expensive. The time that it takes for the cars to be ready is ridiculously long

I was very disappointed in the customer service of this iconic hotel. We booked a room for the wrong day by accident! I booked for Friday instead of Saturday. We showed up on Saturday and realized our mistake. They were not helpful or understanding of our mistake and refused to transfer our booking. I could understand if they were losing...

Situated very close to Union Square.its an hotel with history. Very famous for its roof top bar "Top of the Mark. It was frequented by the soldiers in WW2. There is a lot of history attached to the hotel. Rooms are nice & comfortable with all the modern amenities. The bathrooms are large. Breakfast is superb , everything seems so...

What a lovely step back into time this hotel is. Very elegant with comfortable guest rooms and an excellent location. Located in Nob Hill with Chinatown not far away and all the way down hill for Union square and then the cable car back. Outstanding achievement on the beds, one of the most comfortable I have ever had in a...

Just had a wonderful weekend in the city while staying at the Mark Hopkins. I have stayed at the Ritz, Mandarin Oriental, and other nice hotels in the city but appreciate the Mark Hopkins the most. It's location at the top of Nob Hill provides some of the best views around (360). Also, it's close to everything yet feels removed...

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
