My first stay here was a good experience. The hotel is a five minute walk from the water and ferry building. It's in the middle of the financial/tech district. It's a small boutique hotel and the building is old, with character. There was nothing really notable about the room but it had everything I could want. On the ground floor...

The staff at the front desk were helpful and welcoming. The room was really nice, spacious, clean and with a very comfortable bed. The room service food was delicious. And the location meant I could walk pretty much wherever I needed, and if not public transport was plentiful and nearby.

We were extremely pleased with all aspects of this Hotel. Hotel Griffon is part of the LE Luxury Boutique Hotels. In the heart of the Embarcadero and across the street from the Ferry Building with easy access off of a small side street it is in an incredible location. From this Hotel all of San Francisco's iconic and historic landmarks...

The room rate was confirmed at $379. After CheckIn, my Platinum AMEX was charged $512 ! When questioned, the Clerk said, "That's our additional $75 Charge in case you tear up our room....and it may be 5 days or so before we give it back !" That's totally unacceptable for an upscale business hotel ! I have asked AMEX to...

Dear Roger, Thank you for sharing your concern. Our quoted rates do not include the state and city taxes of 16.45%, which in your case added $62.35 to your bill; this was specified on your confirmation e-mail. Additionally, the $75 authorization is simply that: An authorization in case there are any further incidental charges, such as room service, during your...

Two Thumbs up!! We stayed here for our first trip to San Francisco and Hotel Griffon has easily become one of my favorite hotels. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They always seemed genuine, knowledgeable and always smiling. The room, although small was clean, attractive and utilized the small space very well. With the original brick exposed and easy...

I could not say enough amazing things about this hotel. I travel a lot for business and personal trips and am so glad I have found my go to hotel for San Francisco. As soon as I walked through the doors I felt welcomed and appreciated. I stayed there for three nights and I couldn't be happier. It is in...

Stayed here for 3 nights in September and had a great stay! The rooms were very clean, a little on the small side however they were very nicely decorated. The view from the window was a wall from the building next door, making the room quite dark so i would recommend asking for a room with a better view. We...

If you are comfortable with the small intimate hotels in Europe, you will enjoy the Hotel Griffon. The building was constructed just after the 1906 earthquake and has obviously been updated with good wifi, etc. The location is perfect if you want to be near the Ferry Building which is practically across the street. The rooms are small, just as...

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
