Booked this hotel as it was on special offer with my travel agent and I'm glad I did. Its in a great location just a block away from Union Square and within easy reach of the SF Muni transport system. The room was really nice, typical of a boutique hotel. My only criticism would be the air con unit which...

Hotel Rex is very convenient to hop on the cable car and head for Union Square in one direction or Chinatown/Fisherman's Wharf in the other. The front desk staff is awesome, very helpful, and Max the Pug, official mascot dog, is wonderful to pet when your own dogs are at home. I love the lobby with its comfy chairs, books,...

My wife and I stayed one night at Hotel Rex. I wish I could have stayed longer because there seemed to be a lot to explore around the hotel. I had a glass of wine (or two) in the lobby before taking off to the nearby cable car stop for a trip to Fisherman's Wharf. I enjoyed the "feel" of...

We had a lovely stay in this charming Union Square hotel. The service was outstanding and the queen room was attractive, clean and large enough for our needs with a good sized bathroom. We definitely would stay there again , especially since it's a block from Union Square and a half block from a Cable Car line.

Stayed at Hotel Rex for 3 nights with my daughter. Front desk staff offered us a room with 2 beds instead of the queen I had booked which was very astute of them. Complimentary morning coffee, evening wine, computer use, wi-fi, and a large comfortable lobby for reading were all benefits. One block to Powell cable cars and a short...

We stayed in San Francisco for three nights at the Rex. The location makes it a perfect base for exploring. The hotel has plenty of character and the staff were extremely friendly throughout. I can highly recommend the breakfast at Cafe Andree (Eggs Bennedict in particular). The bar was very nice also (make sure you go for the free glass...

So we went in and were surprised by some inner city children palying the most beautiful classical music. We enjoyed our complimentary glasses of wine and...

We stayed at Hotel Rex on our honeymoon for 3 nights. The staff were very attentive and had great local knowledge. It is an older hotel which adds to ambience however it does mean you can sometimes hear other rooms. This wasn't an issue but worth noting. We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Had stayed in numerous other properties, so was a little reluctant to try a new one. Hotel is quaint, tastefully appointed, relatively quiet (for SanFran) and staff was superb. Wine tasting in the evenings was pleasant and relaxing. Rooms are a little smaller than some chains in suburbs, but relatively large for downtown San Francisco. My room was near the...

Very nice boutique hotel in the heart of the Union Square area. Nice room, amazing shower, nice lobby, exceptionally helpful staff. Would stay here again anytime. Request a room on a high floor in the back.
