Though location of the hotel is in downtown area for a plus point but stay was very much discouraging. Reception was not good. Very old hotel and not upgraded. We didn't find it good and changed the hotel after two days.

I visited San Fran over the New Year and had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Rex. The location is perfect. Close enough to the shopping and touristy areas to walk, but far enough that you're not swept up in a crowd the moment you leave the hotel. When I arrived the room I had reserved was not available. So...

This is not a big or very fancy hotel, i'v stayed in plenty of those. In fact I stayed in the St Francis Westin just down the road, bigger, fancier and a lot more expensive but it did not have the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Rex. This hotel just makes you feel good and the staff are fantastic....

Ah, had a nice time, I was up at 4:00 am this morning, I was scheduled for minor surgery down the street, the nice guy noticed I was reading a book and came by and turned the lamp on for me, very attentive, he inquired if I needed water or coffee. All staff, from check-in to the nice housekeeping staff...

Pleased to say that the Rex is a very nice place to stay in SF. Conveniently located just off Union Square, the room we had (601) was comfortable and well-appointed. Complimentary wine in the evening and good coffee in the morning, very sociable. Front desk was polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

I was in SF for a conference and waited too long to make reservations. Putting aside the crazy room rates that i paid to stay at the Rex (all hotels during this particular conference are tremendously expensive), i had a pleasant stay at the Rex. Room was large and clean. There was a little bit of an odor when i...

My favourite part of the hotel, the nightly events, Jazz music, movie nights and free wine! Great location, easy to walk down to union square, highly...

Decent boutique hotel in a good location. Only 1 tiny elevator so be prepared to climb stairs. Room was good- boutique = small. Staff was friendly. Didn't have time to try the bar but it looked lively and cozy. I love old libraries and this hotel has a library book theme- loved it!

I absolutely cannot understand what anyone would find wrong with this hotel. It is charming. The staff is top-notch. I requested extra pillows and towels at check-in , and the guy almost beat me to the room with arm fulls of said linens. The lobby bar is delightful. I have been to the bar before nearby theater performances, and it...

When I called front desk to ask them to fix the heat, they sent up a space heater. Housekeeping said heater has been broken since yesterday. Wish the front desk would have notified me of this at checkin today. Otherwise beautiful hotel with wonderfully quiet one bedroom suite, but I would not stay here again as it is freezing and...
