Great find! Cozy pub with several quirky rooms on a side street in downtown Bar Harbor. Happily, we did not feel like we were in the midst of the Columbus Day weekend criwds. The pub has several small rooms - I would suggest reservations. The...More

There are a lot of places to eat in Bar Harbor but we enjoyed Black Friar enough to visit twice. We enjoyed the lobster tacos and scallop tacos as well as the crab cakes. The clam chowder was also very good. The service was prompt...More

There’s loads of places to eat in Bar Harbor but this has to be one of the best. My wife and I chose a really good Caesar salad and the filet off the specials board. The filet was cooked to perfection and was one of...More

Our Concierge Christopher at Bar Harbor Manor said we'd love the pub, and we did. Blueberry Mojito was the recommendation, and its made with small batch blueberry vodka. We also enjoyed the sea scallop tacos.

About
Description
The Black Friar Inn and Pub is a hidden gem; once you find it we guarantee you will be back! Our three story building is mostly constructed from materials salvaged from the mansions that burned in the great fire of More 1947. In season, our highly rated restaurant serves breakfast and dinner daily. Breakfasts at the Friar are hearty and healthy. Portions are generous and everything is made from scratch right here at the Black Friar Inn. Open to the public, breakfast is served from 7:30am to 10:00am. Each afternoon the Friar’s Pub opens at 4pm for happy hour, offering $5 house wine and drafts (Maine selections always on tap) and the company is fine. Settle in after a day in the park in an old-fashioned British pub atmosphere. A full line of spirits, cocktails, wines and craft brews are served. Shareable plates and pub fare, dinner offerings include scotch eggs, crab cakes, Charcuterie board and much more. Dinner service begins at 5pm and blackboard specials change weekly. Less
