Stayed for long weekend in North Apartment. Dan and Joan Mills own and run the place. They confirmed the booking, and arranged for us to retrieve the key, with instructions, as we arrived late. When we checked in with them the next day, they gave us their cell numbers to keep in touch, as they do totally run the place....

This isn't a regular hotel - it is actually someone's home - and for me that was part of its charm. The large house is a converted carriage house and retains a charming period feel. Our room was comfortable and the public lounges for the small number of guests were very pleasant. The owners lay out complimentary wine and cheese...

I was confused when I read another review that stated "...felt like we were a guest in someone's house..." I did not think that was a bad thing since I am from the South where we pride ourselves on making our guests feel at home. But our first night clarified that reviewer's statement. We were not completely unprepared when we...

This is a bed and breakfast which is also the home of the owners. It really felt like we were a guest in someone's house, which could be good or bad. It felt awkward when family members were together having dinner. We haven't stayed at a B&B like this. On the dresser in our room was an envelope suggesting a...

Beautiful and quiet inn a short drive from downtown Bar Harbor. Comfortable bed and gorgeous bath with large jacuzzi tub and two person shower. Breakfast is wonderful with fresh fruit. We had veggie omelet a one day and fruit crepes the next. The best thing of all is that innkeeper Dan has a comprehensive knowledge of the area and will...

Pluses: Great location just a few blocks from Bar Harbor's restaurants and attractions (don't miss Havana, right up the street), Extremely convenient access to Acadia National Park. The common living areas are charming. Food quality was good, but no choices are offered... coffee/tea, juice, fruit cup, and the entrée of the day. Minuses: No one was there to greet us...

You pull up to the Chiltern to see this carriage house of character and charm. Owners, Dan and Joan greeted us warmly, while showing us our accommodations. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spacious with a large jacuzzi. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, that I want to replicate! Dan and Joan were so kind...

I stayed at the Chiltern Inn with my boyfriend in April of 2012. We really enjoyed ourselves. We were greeted upon arrival and shown around the house which was very spacious and well decorated. Our room was a good size with a very comfy bed! The bathroom was like a mini spa with a jacuzzi and large glassed in shower....
