We went for the Thanksgiving Luau to Tuttle Bay, and it was the worst sham of a Luau I have ever been!!! Wase of money, ruined our family Thanksgiving,!!! Will NEVER ever go there again. The fire show was a crap show to be precise!!! Go to toe Polynesian Cultural Center if you want a good show..

Hotel's Favourite
We had an amazing stay at the newly re-imagined Turtle Bay Resort. The Ocean Bungalows were designed with luxury, comfort, and style. The view of the ocean is uneatable and the location feels serene. Every staff we encountered were genuinely friendly. They were happy to start conversation and were respectful yet always willing to offer more than what you would need. Dinner at Alaia and lunch at the Beach House are a must. Alaia’s ambience, service, food and drinks are remarkable. Beach House was lively and food was delicious. Thank you to their GM Keith for making sure we enjoyed our lunch. We were fortunate to get to know Lani, who was a gem in putting together our stay. It was indeed a wonderful experience. As local residents, Turtle Bay is one of our favorite retreat for staycation. This stay made it even more special and we are truly grateful for the 5 star experience. We couldn’t be more pleases to recommend the resort to everyone!

As other reviewers have mentioned: this is a GREAT Property! We stayed here for 3 nights after spending 7 nights at the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki (reviewed separately). These are COMPLETELY different stays! Waikiki is a visit to a capital city on an amazing beach. Turtle Bay is a place to go to relax and get away from it all. This was our 8th visit to Oahu. We have stayed in Waikiki (5 different hotels), Ko Olina (Marriott and Aulani) but this was our first stay at Turtle Bay. I concur with the other reviewers that undoubtedly guests will have a great experience. The resort is so new that when we arrived in our room we noticed it smelled like we were in Ikea! I LOVE that they give you reusable water bottles and have filtered water and ice stations on every floor – the less plastic the better - let’s save the turtles at the bay too!! I agree that there are still a few hiccups and inconsistencies and being on a remote part of the island you have limited food choices unless you are prepared to leave the property and drive/uber/cab 10-20 minutes. I would suggest taking the Ocean Lounge option if you plan to stay at the resort mostly as the meals can get quite costly. We asked to upgrade upon arrival and were told it would be $450 extra per day for the 3 of us (even though I could still book it online for $230+ish). Eating on-property will be about $150-200+/day/per person. I do disagree with the poor reviews about the food at TB. We didn’t have any dishes that were disappointing. We enjoyed the food while on property and I would say that I had the best-ever Coconut Thai Soup at Alaia one evening (I am in the hospitality industry and this is a huge complement). I also really enjoyed the Fish Tacos at the Sunset Bar as well. The burger was Ok but certainly not disappointing. Shannon was our Favourite server there and she had great local advice to give us about sights and food on the North Shore. TB also has pay activities like horseback riding, canoeing from it’s own property, experiences which no other resorts have. Bike rentals are free though! We rented a car and used it to enjoy all that the North Shore has to offer and Turtle Bay was a great place to come back to each day and chill while watching the sunset. This is definitely the resort to be to get away from it all on Oahu and I have no hesitation in recommending TB. There were a few hiccups still but I am sure they’ll work them out soon (I’m sure they’re experiencing staffing issues like everyone else as we ease out of Covid). If you want more options with your stays I’d recommend Ko Olina for the best of both worlds as it’s so close to Kapolei and 40 minutes to Waikiki. If you like city life with your surf and sand then Waikiki is your place. But hey! Why not mix it up a little and do a little of each. And YES! Turtle Bay’s own lagoon does have turtles in it so stop asking - I heard this question being asked all the time!! For better/more chances to see them, walk a bit farther along the beach (min 30 minutes) and certainly check out Laniakea Beach and Sharks Cove for them too. Timing and surf conditions will affect your chances of seeing them.

I’ve stayed at Turtle Bay at least once per year for the past 10+ years. My last trip I was working out in the gym and saw not 1 but 2 MASSIVE RATS!! They were climbing up the wall when I saw them and in pure terror I starting screaming. It was unbelievable like something out of a horror movie. One of the rats then ran down the wall and ran past me on the gym floor where my husband and I had just been doing sit-ups. I was beyond traumatized and visibly shaking. The girl at the gym desk took my name and room information. To my disbelief no one from hotel management ever even reached out to me. My husband had to track down the manager, wait 30+ mins to speak to her, inform her and complain. This is unacceptable customer service especially considering we’re spending nearly $2k a night. The manager was pretty nonchalant and told us rats have been an issue particularly in the spa and gym due to the ongoing construction. Wow how is this even a thing? She did offer me a complimentary spa service due to my duress but sorry you couldn’t pay me to use their rat infested spa. Upon reading other reviews rats are definitely a reoccurring nuisance here. Apparently a lady was dining in the restaurant and a rat ran up her leg. I can’t even imagine. In the past we have stayed at Turtle Bay in large part due to the great gym and spa. I usually have to keep myself occupied for hours at the gym and spa while my husband is on set filming and/or surfing. I am so traumatized that not only can I never walk into the gym or spa again but will never stay at Turtle Bay again.

When you walk in, you will notice how beautifully designed this resort is. I was in awe. The beach views are stunning left AND right. The receptionists are great and welcoming. We were even lei’d, which was definitely a nice touch! We felt like we were really welcomed to Hawaii. They ran out of flower leis though and we were unable to get some the next day since we were pretty much gone all day. The beach is just a few minutes away and has a wonderful view for sunset. They have nice areas with a fire pit where you can sit, relax, and drink. Unfortunately, we only stayed for two nights and didn’t get to enjoy the resort as much as we liked. We were jammed with activities on the island but definitely wish we got to spend more time at the resort. It seems like they have a lot to offer! You can self park or valet; both are $35/night. Our room had a beautiful view on the balcony, spacious, clean, and the bed was comfortable! Overall, I would recommend this resort. It’s definitely great for families and couples. My partner and I enjoyed the cleanliness, the views, our room, and the customer service. We would definitely return if we go back to the north shore :-) Thank you!

We had a beautiful stay at Turtle Bay Resort for the first leg of our honeymoon. They were hospitable and helped us celebrate with a nice bottle of bubbly and a fruit bowl, which was very kind! We loved the environment, it was relaxing and stunning views pretty much all the time! The only “downfall” was some of the staff and the feel that gratuities were taken for granted regardless of service. A lot of the time the staff barely spoke to us and would walk away after asking a question (not even waiting for the answer), then all of a sudden when it was time for the bill, they were super nice … the entire experience counts, not just when we get our wallets out! Overall, it was a beautiful experience and we’d love to go back.

We stayed here for a family trip in November 2022, in an ocean bungalow. There were three people in our party (2 adults, 1 child aged 7). The good: -the ocean bungalow is gorgeous and had enough space for us. It opens to a lawn right near the ocean. You can fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up to see the sun rise above the ocean. The bungalow was set apart from the main hotel so we had the comfort of the hotel amenities while feeling like we had our own small beach front rental. -parking: the bungalows have their own parking lot which you can come/go from as needed. -the hotel itself: beautiful property with awe inspiring views -the pool: our daughter loved the water slides -the bracelet room key: super convenient since it’s water proof (don’t need to remember a room key in your bag when you go to the pool and beach -the beach: great for our kiddo—-waves aren’t too big and the water was warm and clear. A quick walk from the lobby -the club: our room level also meant we had access to the club. It was a nice option for a drink and our daughter loved being able to get food herself (especially from the candy section!) -concierge staff: super helpful (had distilled water for me—Neti pot/sinus issues, which I had requested prior to arrival). Texted to check in each day, and generally available to assist and answer questions. Could be improved: -the food: we found it really lacking. We ordered room service and food by the pool a couple times and found the chicken to be tough, the pasta to be without flavor, and the burger to be meh. We tried a couple restaurants onsite and had the same experience. For us, it was an issue because we wanted the convenience of eating onsite (since we were traveling as a family). -the location: while the drive to/from and beyond the hotel is lovely, it’s just over an hour. And there aren’t a lot of restaurants nearby. There is a Foodland for groceries but beyond that, not much. We did visit some nearby food trucks for lunch and that was delicious. But if you’re seeking inspiring dinner or breakfast, good luck finding much nearby. -the club: while it was great for some things, the food was just ok. Bottom line: while we disliked the food, we loved the bungalow and found the property to be beautiful and well appointed.

Aloha, Kate. We are thankful you took the time to provide us with your detailed feedback. Welcoming you to our paradise location and sharing our breathtaking views with you was a treat. Also, helping you and your family unwind in one of our peaceful bungalows was a pleasure. There is nothing quite like the calming ocean sounds to fall asleep to. We apologize to hear that our food was not equally impressive though. We will be sure to share your input with our Management Team and our chefs. Hopefully, we will have another opportunity to win you over completely. A hui hou.

I stayed at Turtle Bay Resort to kick off a 2-week birthday adventure in Hawaii. I loved it so much I ended up rearranging some plans so I could stay an extra night! Driving up to the North Shore is absolutely beautiful. Once I arrived at the resort I felt so taken care of. Coming from the cramped lifestyle of living in New York City, the rooms here felt beyond spacious. My room in the main building had the most perfect ocean view that I hardly wanted to leave. All of the facilities - pool, lounge areas, beach, walking paths - were perfectly appointed. The resort has two sides, so sunrise and sunset were both incredible to enjoy. It's paradise from start to finish. When you arrive you receive a wristband that controls your room key and access to the pool/beach. This perk alone has ruined any other resort for me, it's just way too convenient to not be carrying a room key everywhere! I ate at Roy's Beach House multiple times and the food was great; they were also very attentive and thoughtful to the fact it was my birthday. I booked a few excursions through the resort (Shaka Kayaks, lei-making) and highly recommend. Compared to other resorts I've stayed at that offer activities with hotel pickups, I really liked how all the activities started and finished AT the resort. There were many more activities than I had time for! Unfortunately there were two small hiccups - (1) housekeeping stopped cleaning my room after the second day, and when I called they ended up walking in while I was in the shower; (2) I would like to warn that this is a very family-FRIENDLY resort... I saw one too many diapers being changed a little too close for comfort to my own beach lounger. Would be great if they could section off family vs. adults-only areas of the beach. That being said, it doesn't take away from the 5-star-worthy review - I would definitely come back for another visit - there were a few things I missed (paddleboarding with pups, too jetlagged for breakfast) that I need to try next time!

We stayed at Turtle Bay Resort earlier this month, celebrating our 35th anniversary & my husband's miraculous recovery from a cardiac arrest (back in Feb.) It was absolutely fabulous!! We decided to do the complementary photo shoot in honor of these events. And it was SO good! Our photographer, Keighkey, was fantastic to work with. Made us feel so at ease. The photos are great. No pressure to buy which was a huge plus. But we did decide to buy a 20 photo pkg. to remember this wonderful trip! Most definitely recommend doing this! This company is great!
