My mom and I rented a private room which was a good size for two people. We were helped by Scott (reception) during our stay and he was friendly and welcoming. For the price - it is well worth it and you can't complain! The room was very clean and the bathrooms throughout the hostel were also very clean and...

Like I said in the title: our double-bedroom was clean and big enough for two people. Bathrooms were clean, too. Common room was very cozy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location of the hostel could be nearer to city-center or beach - with a car it's no problem, without car you have to use busses - next bus-station is a...

Dear Tobias, thanks for staying with us....sorry you got burnt out with the pancakes. If you're interested in a job as chef please let us know...LOL! Aloha from The Northshore Hostel...

Doesn't look like much from the outside but fit our needs for an inexpensive and flexible place to stay on the very expensive Maui. Staff were friendly, helpful, and relaxed, and dealt easily with our arrivals at odd hours, storing gear while we were on multi-day hikes, and giving us all we needed to recover from the backcountry. Hostel was...

Place was unclean, over priced & the reception was almost never open. Main guy that works there was super rude. Desk is closed 2-5 pm & again during any airport pick up which is 3 more times a day. Pancake mix is disgusting. Could never get in a bathroom. There is no one there to even check u in. I...

Dear Tara, we're really very, very happy that you found somewhere else to stay as you were no longer welcome here after one night. When guests are super rude we have to make the decision to ask them to leave. It is our constant lament that there is no rating service for hotel guests.....

A wonderful place to meet people from all over the planet who can share their experiences to give you a heads up on what to see and do. Well run with great cooking facilities and a much better alternative to staying in alternative accomodation.

This is a great place to stay for the person who is looking to adventure the island, meet new friends, and get away from a b.s. fabricated touristy experience. Wailuku is definitely an area with more locals and is part of the older section of the central valley, but it's a quiet place to settle down for the evening. If...

Aloha Mat....thanks for staying at Maui's best hostel...the Northshore Hostel...we appreciate guests that 'get it!'

This hostel is located about a 15 minute drive from the airport in a less tourist more local area of Maui. Arriving is quite simple and plenty of 2 and 12 hour parking is accessible directly across from the building. Having a car in this area is greatly suggested. Finding parking was never an issue for my wife and I....

Dear Jordsn, thanks for your detailed review of the Northshore Hostel Maui. Indeed our facility is in an older building. While we always do our best to keep it clean and comfortable for our many guests, some folk might find a more appealing to stay. Mahalo for staying with us!

Clean rooms and common areas. Nice bathrooms, mostly clean and when not it was brief and reflected patron use rather than hostel upkeep. Free coffee / tea and Pancakes made for an easy and enjoyable breakfast option, plus the distribution of leftover fruit and other food left behind by others also helped make things easier. Very pleasant place to stay,...

The location for this hostel is great - it's very close to the airport, as well as near Baldwin Beach Park & Paia. If you are travelling without a car, it offers free airport pick up at various times.. If you are travelling with a car it is the best hostel in Maui for parking - with a HUGE car...

The north shore hostel is the perfect fit for the budget minded. For the more gregarious there are plenty of other travelers to mingle with and compare notes with and with whom to buddy up with for excursions. For the solo, self-starter it is a good place to use as a base from which to launch oneself. And, for a...
