Getting there
Somewhat walkable
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I wanted to give a better rating because there are so many wonderful things about this resort, but unfortunately a few experiences really put a damper on it.
Pros- beautiful location, great walking path along the beach (go early for joggers) that leads to fantastic dining and shopping at whalers village, the grounds are spotless and clean and out of your room you would never know there is major construction, concierge is fantastic and helpful setting up our excursions, the pool and restaurant staff were amazing.
Cons- I will preface this with they 100% tell you up front there is construction which is why we booked so many activities and luckily we had great weather to stay out of the room during the day which is what you want in Hawaii anyways, however they did NOT disclose there were mandatory power outages in the middle of the night for several hours. We lost AC and my mother was unable to use her cpap machine. The front desk was able to move her for just one night, but why in the world would you even put people in a room like that. We had generations running outside our room 24/7 which just made for awful sleeping as well which isn’t what you want on vacation. Additionally the woman at the welcome center was so rude and condescending to us when we went to get our excursions tickets that we booked. We were there with my mother who has been an owner for over 20 years and she said that all the rooms outside construction were reserved for owners and if we wanted better rooms then we need to do a presentation and buy. When I told her we are owners she argued with us. We typically do presentations to see if anything has changed and updates to the MVC, but we just wanted to enjoy family time and not be stuck inside for an hour or two and skip the presentation this time around.
We have always had wonderful experiences at the many MVC properties and treated great as owners but we felt as thought we were cast aside. So if you are not an owner I would really advise to stay away because you most certainly be in an awful room.
We absolutely love Maui and maybe would come back someday but we have seriously questioned our loyalty to MVC.

We are new owners, having purchased a biannual 2-bedroom oceanfront week on redweek.com. This was our first visit. We were a bit apprehensive, given the age of the property and some of the reviews. I have to confess I loved it. Much depends on the unit of course. We had 4108/4109: we stayed in 4109 ( the „true“ oceanfront ) and our friends in 4108 ( slightly overlooking the pool area, but easily seeing the ocean ). We looked at the top of the palm trees: Hawaii feeling at its best. Watching whales from the balcony while sipping wine was just amazing. Note though: the two-bedrooms can be split into a one-bedroom ( includes a living room ) and a studio: the studio can be off to the side and not offer much „oceanfront“, easily leading to disappointment. There are room maps, showing it all. There were plenty of lounge chairs available. There is a person watching out that you do not reserve more than 2 lounge chairs or not more than one hour and not before 7:00 am: annoying, of course, if you try otherwise, but in the end good for all and good for you: so thanks. The premises are beautifully and immaculately maintained. The beach is beautiful, though it is good to check for the spot between the MMOC and the Napili Towers ( I think ), where the water is a bit less dark because it is sandy and easy to enter without encountering corals. Plenty to enjoy on the premises too. Lots of restaurants and activities nearby. We used the BBQ grills a lot to grill tuna air mahi mahi steaks: plenty always available and well maintained. Overall very enjoyable.

Not once did we feel out of place for booking our stay as guests rather than being a timeshare owner. As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted with great customer service and they even checked us in 3 hours early! The beachfront view was amazing! The pools were great for all ages. My 5yo loved the kids area. The pool bar has nice drinks and we’re 2 dollars off for happy hour. Pizza was great. If the food is too expensive you have the choice of walking to whalers beach for the food court or if you feel like cooking they have a gourmet kitchen and grills by the pool to use! They have filtered water dispensers all throughout the resort. Lots of games like life sized chess and checkers, ping pong, billiards etc. The beach was steps away. We watched the sunset every night that we were there. Truly a spectacular place. We’ll definitely visit again!

Without notice at booking or arrival, they decide to have a mandatory power shutdown for the "most" of the hotel midway through our week here. I have a cpap that's needs electrical or I can't breathe at night. Nope sorry, we can't move you. So for the $7-900 a night, you get no power, no ac, no power for the refrigerator and in my case and the others with medical equipment, no sleep. They offered flashlights...went to front desk...nope we ran out. You can see across some of the rooms have lights, but no ac. They simply didn't care. In the video, in the total darkness is the pool with no safety lights.

I'm hoping this review get's seen by many and corporate. This was the worst experience I have ever encountered in a Resort. The quality of service and what you get in return is not worth it. Let me start by just stating when I showed up for checking in. I have never ever felt racially profiled, until I went to this Resort. People in front of me were being treated with such great hospitality, smiling at them, educating them on all the perks the resort had. Then here I come to the front. The guys name was Jonathan. the first thing he tells me is, "I'm not ready". I said no problem, stood there and waited. We proceeded to checking in. I was being rushed, talked down on, was not explained anything about the benefits of the resort. i got an attitude and my key cards thrown at me. I got a deal through customer care and he did not want to honor it and said to me "This is to expensive for you, you can call care and pay through them then i will check you in". I kept is as professional as I could and responded just get me a room and charge whatever you need. It was such a horrible experience to start with and on my wife's birthday. My wife wanted to leave but i stuck it out and proceeded as the travel was long. The room, the room smelled nasty, the cabinets on the inside full of dust. The staff, rude, arrogant, when I would walk and pass the front desk, no good morning or any type of greet. I asked for some towels, they told me they would deliver me some, never came. I felt as though i was being treated different just because my ethnicity was different. The last night i stayed was the worst. i woke up in the middle of the night because my wife was telling me she felt uncomfortable and itchy. I didn't pay to much attention to what she said, and here we go. Maybe an hour later i see small black critters jumping. I woke up with bites on my arms. I was really upset and left early in the morning. That was incredibly uncomfortable and nasty. This was the worst experience and i hope they don't treat customers like they treated me. As well as check the rooms well, because you might find insects. Will never recommend to anyone.

I guess being a Lifetime Titanium Elite member doesn't mean much. Booked a room with an ocean view, and we got a view of the hot tub (maybe you could call it a partial ocean view). I asked Katelyn (Manger) if she could discount the rate for a non ocean view and she said her hands were tied and couldn't do anything at her level. There were no other rooms available because the timeshare folks are all here now. Which is fine except you should not book rooms like this and lead people to believe they're going to get a full ocean like you see in the pictures of the rooms on the website.

We stayed at this resort over Thanksgiving with our 5 year old. We had a two bedroom/3bath unit with a kitchenette/living room. We had so much space. Each of the three rooms had a lanai and the view was incredible ("ocean view" room). The resort was super convenient - convenience shop for whatever you might need, Starbucks on site, pool bar/restaurant with fresh, good food with large portions, kids activity center. Huge pool (actually multiple pools, but the main one is huge) with waterfalls and caves and two waterslides and a little kid splash area with pirate ship. It was also quite busy, so not always the easiest to get a chair by the pool, but..it was Thanksgiving so that was not surprising. Location was convenient - we could walk to Whaler's Village (shopping area with restaurants). The beach adjacent to the resort was nice and our daughter had a blast hanging out there most mornings (pools were cool, ocean was warmer). On the last day we went to Black Rock Beach, which the resort took us to in a golf cart, and the snorkeling was awesome (lots of beautiful fish and turtles). Overall, with a young kid, this resort was perfect.

Staying at #marriottoceanclubmaui and they put us in a construction site. There are jackhammer, drilling and sawing all day from 7am to about 6pm. We are all 4 handicap with disability and they put us the furthest from the elevator. Checked into our room and there were dirty towels in our room. Asked for trash bags as there were none under the sink or can when I changed trash and they brought 3 more trash cans. The fridge didn’t work, all our cold food went bad. Sister slipped in the tub and they said go buy a mat at Walmart. They just don’t care. #Marriott You should be ashamed. #marriottvacationclub #marriottvacationsworldwide #marriottbonvoy

The service is mediocre and currently we are here right now and there are loud explosions and drilling from the early morning to the evening without a break taking a nap that’s not gonna happen for you or your kids. they are clearly remodeling. I’m sure they clearly explain before people come here however, this is beyond light construction….we have a three bedroom and it’s so crusty and old. The kitchen is a joke. Just a microwave and Dw small fridge no disposal even. Feels so old like no matter how good they try to clean it it is just rusty and gross. We asked to change rooms to one not sandwiched by explosions in front and back. They said no.

We own a timeshare at MOC. We come for a week annually in February. We request a high floor in the Lanai tower and generally get it, based upon our Marriott status. This year a 6th floor (there are 9 floors). Views are beautiful and whales are easily seen from the balconies. Location of hotel is the best. A secret snorkeling spot is found by snorkeling straight out from the Beach Activity Center (green roof), then past the breaking waves, then snorkel all the way in front of the Marriott. Beautiful coral, lots of fish and many turtles. This area and Kapalua Bay are my 2 favorites on Maui. The Marriott is a Timeshare facility which used to be a hotel. So, a 2 bedroom condo is actually a 3 bedroom hotel room, re-configured as a condo. So, it has a microwave and refrigerator but no kitchen or washer/dryer. 3 bathrooms and 3 balconies. Free, large laundry room is located in the Molokai Tower and you can do multiple loads at one. Longhi’s (formerly a Lahaina restaurant) is now located at the MOC. A great addition. The MOC is located on the best spot on Kaanapali Beach and the ocean walk is a few minutes from Whalers Village and several great restaurants. We travel all over the world, but this is one of the 2 places that we return every year. Always during whale season.

Yes, but it's an open air extended balcony on the oceanfront with a beautiful view of the beach, so it's hard to stay focused. If you just need to check and respond to emails or make copies, it's cool. But, if you need to do some in-depth analysis on a project, good luck! It's extremely tough in this environment because there are also families coming in and out. Instead, I had my family leave our room and spend time on the beach for 2-3 hours while I worked, which was a much better option.

Yes, I believe so, but it seems like every year there's a new rule that's been implemented or something that's been taken away. So, you may want to go to the Maui Ocean Club website and chat.
There are more places to choose from in the Lahaina area.
