We asked for a quiet room and this was the most quiet we've ever stayed in! When we walked to the elevator, we could hear the sweet sounds of a baby a few doors down, but somehow our room was super quiet. And the resort had great pools and open, airy restaurants. Garage parking was great. An outdoor mall right next door! The only improvement might be that the kindness of the staff was very uneven- some were amazing, but others not so much. But isnt that true everywhere these days? So, great job, Westin. And mahalo!

Hotel's Favourite
I will start by saying my husband & I usually book really nice condos down in Wailea and eat at Morimoto at least once, so we were a bit nervous about booking a Ka'anapali Resort hotel. Sorry if this makes me sound like a snob, I just like to give a frame of reference for what we like, so you can disregard this as not your kind of review, or decide it's something that might be useful to you given your own preferences and interests. Anyway, we wanted to join our friends there for 5 nights, so we went for it. Via Marriott website we were able to get a fantastic AAA deal. Don't get me wrong, Hokupa'a Tower rooms are much more expensive. But we really thought the amenities made up for it (more later), and with the AAA package we got 25% off at the main hotel bars/restaurants, and $200 hotel credit per day, which definitely all added up in savings. The Hokupa'a tower was renovated just a year or two ago, so the rooms are super beautiful (we were very fortunate due to my Marriott status & got a corner suite upgrade w incredible ocean views). The Lanai at Hokupa'a Tower was our FAVORITE thing! You can only get in if you are booked in that tower, no ifs ands or buts. You can't flex your status, pay for it, anything. It's an appreciation and experience for those who decided to book up, and given how crowded Maui can be, it was a lovely respite. The hosts are fabulous, and can help with checking for your room before it's ready, booking the hospitality suite so you can change/shower after the 11am checkout when you have late flights, and are just great people in general. Gia Dee and Todd (or maybe it was Scott, we got too distracted talking funny t-shirts and movies to get the name again, lol) are so warm & welcoming. Their bartenders/mixologists are amazing (loved Saul, Jess, David & more) and can whip up anything you desire, before you know you desire it. The "small bites" from 7-10am & 5-7pm are not small at all. We ate full breakfast there twice, and it was often the perfect PM snack for me before a later dinner. Even between "small bites" hours there is popcorn, packages of chips, sodas, coffee, tea, etc. The soaking pool is gorgeous, and there are many seats with perfect views. Our friends were in the "regular" tower and SO disappointed once they saw all the perks. OK, enough waxing poetic about the Hokupa'a Tower. Other than I wish I were back right now! Regarding the rest of the property, we were also super happy with that as well! Of course there are tons of kids, and we're not kid people. But there are 3 separate adults only areas, so we never felt overrun or anything. There's a regular pool, a hot tub, and our absolute fav was the sand bottom "warm pool" as we called it, since it was neither super hot nor cold. It felt great on the feet, and was just a wonderful place to chill and chat w our friends, meet others, etc. Poolside servers were awesome, and there was a bar right there too. And, if you want to have fun and mix with the hilarious kiddos...the slide was great! At least 2 stories, and you really got whipping around there. Hale Moʻolelo their basic restaurant/bar had surprisingly high quality food, and the Market had good options too. Was even able to buy snorkeling/swimming fins on property, sorry, forgot the name of the place. Off property the beach is also very nice there (other places further south had closed beaches), the water is gorgeous, and it's a short walk North to Black Rock which has wonderful snorkeling. If you want to get off property the Whaler's Village mall has all you need, or it's just a short drive or uber into Lahaina. We love Paia Fish Market & Lahaina Grill. Look More Funn at Star Noodle was great, rest so so for us. All in all we were incredibly happy with our time there, and will be back. Thank you to everyone at the Westin Maui!!! PS: Will try to post more photos later, my iPhone photos are reportedly too large as is.

We have stayed at the Westin Maui Resort many times over the years but this year everything seemed click especially smoothly. The location of the resort is great, right next to Whaler's Village mall with its many shops and restaurants. The resort recently underwent a multi-year update/renovation and it now looks great. The check-in process was very efficient. Our room was comfortable, with a stunning ocean view. The staff throughout the week was always cheerful and eager to please. Housekeeping was excellent. Nice self-parking. We never had trouble getting a spot by the pool, even though the resort was very crowded. Free coffee and cookies in the lobby on Thanksgiving. A fun lobby tree-lighting party on Friday. All in all, a great place to spend Thanksgiving Week. While all of the staff were friendly and eager to please, we want to single out Michelle, who has provided outstanding Aloha Spirit help to us throughout our 2021 and 2022 visits to the Westin. She is the embodiment of customer service. We now consider her our friend rather than just a very helpful resort employee. Thank You, Michelle!

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful the Westin Maui truly is. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were treated like family. Our room had a breathtaking view of the Pacific as well as the island of Molokai. Our room was cleaned daily and each room came with a refillable water bottle that you can fill at the various water filling stations in the resort. The are 3 beautiful pools (2 kids, and one adult) and the pool deck is not only equipped with plenty of lounge chairs, but it is also quiet and peaceful, with amazing views of the ocean and the twin islands of Molokai and Lanai. By far the best part of the Westin is the staff, all the way from the front desk, to Ryan who works the pool deck, and Joel behind the bar at the Hale Moʻolelo. The staff is friendly, warm, welcoming, and outgoing. One of the female bartenders at the Hale Mo’olelo always greeted my husband and me by saying welcome home. It certainly felt like home. I highly recommend this resort to anyone staying in Maui. My husband and I cannot wait to go back!

I thought this hotel was pretty nice. I had probably spent an hour reading through Trip Advisor reviews about this property prior to booking and I would say I found the property to be right in line with what I had been reading. We stayed in what I had read was newly renovated, Holupa’a tower with the Lanai access. I thought the room was in line with expectations, nicely laid out, clean and comfortable. I guess my issues with the hotel were more as follows. The pool areas seemed over crowded and difficult to find adjoining chairs. The food at the hotel in terms of taste and quality was pretty mediocre. I also attempted to find food later in the evening and there were no options so I had to order delivery from town which seemed odd given it’s a large property. We tried a couple of restaurants and the Lanai. I saw some people’s reviews saying people made entire meals out of the Lanai snacks. I don’t see that really being possible. They had about 3 items offered a couple hours in the morning and evening and some bagged chips, sodas etc during the day. The other thing that was kind of baffling was that unlike most other premium “club level” type offerings even within the Mariott family of brands, the Lanai charges for all alcoholic beverages at the bar. Most places at seem include beer and wine at a minimum. So given the large price difference I would be torn as to whether to upgrade to the Lanai access if I returned to the hotel. The other thing that was difficult was the room package came with a $100 per day credit and it’s very limited where it can be redeemed and it can not be redeemed in the Lanai. But all that being said it was a pretty nice hotel. I come to Maui regularly and would consider staying again. I can only speak to the newly renovated rooms. My stay overall just felt like you’re kinda nickel and dimed for mediocre food in the restaurants and mislead about $100 credits, then charged for cocktails in the premium lounge. We were not able to fully use our package credits during our stay.

Beautiful accommodations - we stayed in a room facing the hillside and were pleased with the view and quiet. I would be concerned if we had ended up in a room facing the pool area and would hear sounds from the pool area. Staff was super pleasant, and there were no issues. Pools were beautiful (but a bit cool, and I would be interested if they could use a heater. I like to swim in pools but found them to be too cool once the waterfalls started flowing and bringing cold water into the pool). It was very nice that there was a separate adult pool area! Kids loved the pool area and slides. Food at restaurants was a bit pricey but of good quality. Go to ABC Stores or the grocery to find (more) affordable snacks. When you make your reservation, see if you can go ahead and sign up for the inclusive yoga and lai classes. By the time we arrived, the classes were all booked. We still enjoyed feeding the Koi fish every morning, and this was probably my favorite thing! Parking is not included in the daily resort fee. We missed that and were disappointed for the additional charges. We realize this hotel may be pricey for some but it should provide a luxurious experience. I checked out other resorts along Ka'anapali Beach and was pleased we ended up at The Westin.

The resort is beautiful at first glance yet falls short of expectations of a 4star resort. Our check-in process was quick and we were given special Kuikui Nut Lei necklaces. The majority of staff all seemed very friendly and helpful as well. The concierge was a bit of a jerk and extremely unhelpful in advising on activities in the area, he said he only knew about the west side of the island. The property with the exception of the pool area was well kept and beautiful. (The pool area was often littered with abandoned empty cups) The waterfall was gorgeous and a nice spot for pictures or relaxing. The flamingos and koi were great and looked well cared for. Our room was mountain view and nice but a bit dated. The mattress on our bed was surprisingly very worn and not super comfortable. However the size of the room was large, and the patio was a nice place to relax. The swimming pools were all beautiful but strangely shallow. The adult pools were only 3ft 11inches deep lol. The bathrooms near the adult pools were also pretty gross looking. The main pool was 4ft 11inches at its deepest. Also towels are only available at a towel desk which is only at the lower pools and closes early evening. The bar at the adult pool was never open in the evenings that we were there, so if you want to swim in the adult pool and drink you have to journey across the property to get a drink. The lower restaurant was fantastic! The food was excellent and the drinks were delicious. The bartenders and servers were all fantastic as well. The Market was not open during the hours listed so that was a bit frustrating when that was the dinner plan after a long tiring day out.

My husband and I visited for 4 nights to celebrate his 33rd birthday. The lobby and pools are absolutely wonderful! So fun feeding the koi and flamingos at 9 every morning. We stayed in the ocean tower, in a non-ocean view king room- these rooms are pretty outdated. We didn’t stay in our room much so the small size didn’t bother us, and it still had a nice balcony overlooking the parking lot to a beautiful mountain across the way! We loved the walkability to the restaurants near by. We ate at Hale Mo’olelo (awesome) and Waicoco on the property. Waicoco left something to be desired, but had pretty quick availability to get in for a table last minute. We loved walking over to The Hula Grill (awesome) and the shops near by. Definitely make reservations for restaurants if you can because everyone shows up here for dinner since the restaurants are so close. We attended the Luau at the Westin and loved the hula dancers and fire show, all you can drink and eat-food was amazing. We snorkeled a bit off the beach here here down by black rock and saw turtles everyday in the water. We could even take surf lessons right off the beach too which was nice. They have locals with cool stations set up in the Lobby to send souvenirs home or teach you how to make hats. We spent a lot of time with Michael Schenk, a local agriculture guru. We loved learning more about the island from him while creating souvenirs to send home to family! We went for a Marriott presentation on future vacation investments and already purchased our next stay at the Nanea! We will 100% be back to Maui and it’s hard to beat the walkability of the Westin with the oceanfront so we may even be back to this beautiful resort as well!

We had to cancel our planned anniversary trip which was scheduled for Aug. The good news is it opened the door for us to revisit Maui after many years which has been a challenge for us living so far away in Florida. We thought about going back to Wailea however the property we stayed at for our Honeymoon had lots of construction in the works with crazy pricing so that was eliminated. We then checked out Kapalua and ruled that out after reading about outdated rooms etc. Despite reading mixed reviews, we decided to give The Westin in Ka'anapali a shot. We found the best deal for us through Bonvoy and booked a newly renovated room in the Hokupa'a Tower. Our package also came with a daily credit which was nice however a bit of a challenge to fully use (although we did our best). Overall it's a nice property however I remembered the WOW factor last time in Hawaii. After you arrived, they immediately brought you a cold drink and a flower lei. No cold drink was offered at the Westin but they did hand us a Lei after we finished checking in. A couple of thoughts: o Hokupa'a Tower is worth it if you want a newer room and access to the Lanai. The Lanai was a nice place for us to grab breakfast and chill out during the day. o The Westin offers you one free cocktail and shuttle as a part their resort fee o Adult only pools however they really didn't enforce it o Close proximity to the beach however a portion of the beach got washed out I believe in July o Nice fitness center however the Peloton Bike was not working when I stopped in to take a ride o Daily credit for our package wasn't available at all venues which made it a challenge to fully utilize o There's an open air mall next door. It's close by and worth strolling around. However as a foodie, I was disappointed with the restaurant mix as they all seemed to offer the same items (excluding the food court). It would have been nice to see some more variety {perhaps a Mexican or Italian place too}. We ate most of our dinner in Lahaina. It's not far away and there was no shortage or options. o Most things don't happen very quickly in Hawaii. I took a bit to get some e-mails answered and as of right now, I'm still waiting to hear back on an issue. o The sunset sail they offer through the Westin was in dry dock when we were there so we were unable to get out on the water in a boat (as we only had 4 nights). o We elected to get extra Bonvoy points vs. having our room cleaned daily and had to follow up to get the points. Didn't seem like there was full communication between the teams. Overall it was a good experience. They did send a card & some goodies for our Anniversary. However, we were hoping for more. The food (offerings) and service could have been better. We had lunch delivered to the hotel on our last day. I think we will be back to Maui again however I'm not sure if we would return to the Westin or try something else.

Aloha Bob S, It is delightful to know your plans brought you to The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali, and we appreciate your detailed feedback. The property is located close to a lot of restaurants and Whalers Village. There are two towers (Ocean Tower and Hokupa'a). Consumers beware of the old decrepit Ocean Tower. While the rooms are very expensive, you will be greeted with cracking and peeling wallpaper, carpet, so dirty, that your white socks become brown and sticky. Furniture that is extremely out of style, worn-out, and need replaced graces the room. Room lighting is abysmal at best. One floor lamp would make a world of difference. As an Ambassador Elite member, I stayed on points but was extremely disappointed with my Ocean Tower room and the property’s policy does not offer a complimentary upgrade to an Ambassador member to the Hopua’a tower is unfortunate. However, for a price, they will relocate you to the Hopua’a tower. I was offered a Luxury Ocean, Larger Guest room, 1 King, Sofa bed, Ocean view, The Lanai access for an additional $500 per night. As for service, I expected an arrival gift, at a minimum, as an Ambassador Elite member. Needless, to say, a there is no welcome gift. In fact, I usually get dried fruits and nuts staying at a Renaissance property. Not sure why, but no arrival gift is offered at a Westin Resort. Housekeeping was adequate but nothing stellar. I like my room attended to in the morning and requested such service and it worked for 2 days out of a 13 day stay. After that, I was lucky if the room was attended to before 3 PM even after requesting early housekeeping a second time. Would I stay at this property in the future? No, is the most likely answer unless management makes an effort to recognize what it takes to become Ambassador Elite and treat that tier guest accordingly. Again, the property is in a great location and the grounds are immaculate.
