Old outdated appliances that did not work and maintenance staff could not repair due to private ownership. The local is great but don’t recommend until you know the dishwasher, disposal, fridge and washer dryer actually work
The view of the ocean and upcountry from the 5th floor was spectacular. It was exactly as advertised. The price was great. Front desk staff was amazing and knowledgeable. We had problems getting the hide a bed back into the couch. Maintenance was prompt and courteous.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Maui banayan. Nice private room on the second floor . It had all the comforts of home. The location is perfect . Swimming with turtles daily just across the road. Lastly the balcony was spacious and sunny.
I arrived at the Maui Banyan on November 9th after attending my nephew's wedding in Honolulu. The room was immaculate, the amenities were great, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I would recommend the Maui Banyan to anyone planning a vacation in Maui. Mahalo!
Family friendly resort and walking distance to the beach. Lots of stores around the resort and restaurant. Love the hot tub and pool as well that fits kids, not deep and we really enjoyed our stay . We will definitely come back!
The quality of the hotel was closer to a 2 star than a 3 star, the hotel rents rooms that are owned by some condo owners. The room quality and furniture was bad. They charge a lot of fees that don't make sense. A damage fee for $40 even if nothing is broken, a 125 cleaning fee!, and a 30 reservation fee. With taxes, this amounts to an extra $230 for things that should be included in any hotel. Definitely avoid
We booked this resort online, it said it would have a kitchen, pull out bed, microwave and fridge. We arrived late, but had called ahead to see if we could check in early that day, in which they said we could just do the paperwork but not get into the room as they were still cleaning. We didn't want to kill the time we had to drive out of our way to just do paperwork. So when we arrived we had to call for assistance as there is no desk clerk after 9pm. Our room was just a motel type room, no kitchen, no pull out bed, small fridge and microwave, it had bugs crawling around on the bathroom sink. The next day we complained about the bugs and all they could say is that it's tropical and there are bugs. We also said that the description of the room was not what we got, and they said they were booked and had no other rooms. So on the 3rd day we called the website we booked the room with, and they called the resort. Well wouldn't you know there was a room available, but the resort was going to charge us more money to switch rooms. When we refused they finally agreed to let us switch rooms with no extra fees. This room was fabulous. It had a kitchen, an island counter where you could eat, also a dining room with table and chairs, Living room with a hide a bed, the bedroom had a king bed and a patio in which you could sit out and enjoy the view, There were beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards for you to use at the beach. However the new room also had bugs crawling around the bathroom. Depending on the day, the staff was friendly, but there was a day one staff member was rather grumpy. This resort is right across from the beach, there are plenty of restaurants and shops in the area. We had a great time in Maui. We would go back to visit and would probably stay at this resort if we had the same type of room. …
Pros: The office staff was friendly and helpful when needed, the grounds are well taken care of and the location is good. Cons: Pretty much everything else. Rooms were extremely outdated and grungy. Pictures on wall had mold on them. Two chairs provided in room were old wicker with dirty cushions. Small bar fridge was rusted on the outside and dirty on the inside. The mattress should have been replaced 5 years ago. The springs were practically nonexistent. Hotel lacks usual amenities such as cleaning service, ice machine, laundry facilities etc. Upon arrival we were charged over $200US for additional fees. Most of this was a cleaning fee. Part of the checkout instructions indicate we need to sweep and dispose of all garbage to avoid an additional $60US cleaning fee. Not sure why we paid the original cleaning fee when we are essentially cleaning up after ourselves. We were charged $40US for a damage waiver fee. Why not take a deposit and return it when nothing is damaged? In total we spent over $2,000CAD for 5 nights and it isn’t even worth half of that. Defiantly would not recommend staying here in its current condition! Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. I wish we would have!…
We got an upgrade to a suite and it's exactly what you need in Maui - great kitchenette made it easy to cook and nice set up with 2 tv's - plenty of space to lounge around in after a long day at the beach
Customer service desk is only open 0900-2100. After/before hours is via phone outside the service desk area. They said my Business Credit Card was declined, so I used my personal card to check in. They assured me once I cleared up the situation with the BCC, they could switch the payment over to it. My Business Credit Card said they had approved all authorizations (never declined), so I tried to get them to switch payments. I called three times to get them do that, but they kept saying they would email me a form to start the process...which they never did. When I called back the fourth time, I got a different front desk person who said no one had left any notes about my situation and only a supervisor could change payments. She said she would leave a note for her supervisor to call me when she got in the next day or that I could call back. They should have someone on staff at all times that can perform refunds...or at least forward me the form to start the process. They also said they were going to call me back and they never did and when I called them they apologized and said they were "very busy" and would send me the form right away...obviously that did not happen. Now I have to wait for a 3rd day after I left to attempt to switch payments. The last person I spoke with has no ability to help with a refund/payment switch and she was also very rude with repeatedly talking over me. She said there was no supervisor on staff that I could talk to and she did not have the Corporate Office number...but wanted to give me the number for the reservation desk...wow. Much better places there for the price (rooms a bit dated (fewer plugs and no USB)) and room I was in was connected to another with a thin, non-sound proof locked door. Plus Customer Service was not helpful and kinda rude...…
