During our October stay at Maui Bay Villas, my teenage son and I were greeted by the breathtaking beauty of Maui's coastline and the promise of a serene tropical retreat. The resort, though currently undergoing construction, managed to provide a peaceful and rejuvenating escape, leaving us enamored with its charm.
Sunset enthusiasts, like my son and I, were treated to an unparalleled spectacle each evening. The resort's prime location gifted us with mesmerizing sunset views, painting the skies with vibrant hues of orange and pink, creating an enchanting backdrop against the tranquil waters.
Despite the ongoing construction, the tranquility of Maui Bay Villas was preserved. The staff went above and beyond to ensure minimal disturbance, and their amiable demeanor added a welcoming touch to our stay. Their friendliness and willingness to assist with any request greatly enhanced our overall experience.
While the ambiance and scenery were exceptional, one aspect that fell a tad short was the limited dining options available on the property. Although the quality of food served was satisfactory, having a wider variety would have added more culinary delight to our stay.
Exploring nearby eateries became part of our adventure, allowing us to savor the diverse flavors of Maui.
In summary, Maui Bay Villas is a hidden gem offering stunning sunsets, a welcoming beach club, and a serene ambiance despite ongoing construction. The friendly staff contributed to a memorable stay, even though the dining choices on-site were somewhat limited. For those seeking tranquility amidst tropical beauty, this is an idyllic escape worth considering.

Here’s the good part of our stay at this resort . The resort rooms are excellent. They have tons of storage and a lot of nice touches such as the bidet, washer/dryer and shower with dual shower heads. The staff is excellent and delivered anything we needed promptly with a smile. We enjoyed the pool although the adult pool water was very cold. Parking was ample and free.
The negative issues are due to the location of the resort. There is a river of mud near the entrance of the resort. It rained the day we arrived and the roads near the resort were flooded with water and mud. We entered through the construction entrance. The very small beach area contained muddy water. It rained again the first week and people had to be rescued from their vehicles by helicopter in the street next to the resort. The rain caused a power outage one night and then a water main burst which left us with no water. Obviously, Maui does not have the infrastructure to handle all of the problems in Kihei with rain and mud. This is an ongoing issue that dates back many years. We found drone video from December of 2021 that looked like our rain and mud issues.
In addition, with the roads around the resort closed, we and everyone else had to drive out to the highway to get anywhere. So the traffic was frustrating.
Lastly as this resort is still under construction we knew things might not be all up and running. We had hoped for a beach vacation. If this is your reason for staying here, then don’t.

Staff are helpful and courteous. I mean, what’s not to like.
