I had reservations in Kaanapali that we decided to cancel after the Lahaina tragedy. However, I called and spoke to Juliet at the reservation desk. Juliet hit it out of the park and convinced my wife and I to come. The condo she booked us had great views and was very clean and comfortable. Everyone from Austin at the front desk. Winston the general manager made sure our visit was impeccable. The main manager Doug was so friendly and informative. Kim and I decided to come back next year again in September. Thank you all for making this trip happen and showing us what the true meaning of Mahalo means. We Vic will see you next year! Billy and Kim Burgen say aloha!

I stayed in Mana Kai 202 again and found it to be fantastic. Hawaii in general is a great place to escape covid because everyone visiting there has to produce a negative test before arriving and the prevalence on the island is low, so it is probably the safest area to stay right now.

This unit specifically is perfect because with a full kitchen you never really have to go out. Also, 202 is on the second floor; excellent for a view, but outside the door there is a staircase that you can go down one floor and a few steps yo are on the beach; you never have to go through the lobby or grounds if you don't want to. If you do, you need to wear a mask, but it is not necessary on the beach or most of the lawn. Just a fantastic location. Also, this room is at the West end of the building, much , much better than the East end where there is a fair amount of noise next to the public parking lot and dumpsters/delivery trucks.

The unit itself is very clean and updated with super quiet fans. It has beach chairs and umbrellas in the closet; I hit the beach just on the side of the building (see photo) where there frequently was no one else and perfect for sunsets and whales. But don't forget, Keawakapu Beach in front of the building is considered to be one of the best beaches on Maui with a great snorkeling spot off to the right.

As before, the store, rental shop, and restaurant on site were very handy.

Many thanks to Condo Rentals Hawaii for their help in booking this condo for me again.

One more thing: while most people seem to walk to the South toward Wailea to get their exercise, I more often take the shore trail to the North which has a lot of varied terrain and you can go to the North end of Kamaole Beach 1, about a 3 mile round trip. across the lawn of Kihei Surfside at the Northeast corner you can find the entrance to the trail.

My husband and I were looking for an affordable place to stay in Maui that was easily accessible to beaches and the rest of the island. Mana Kai Maui was the perfect location, already located off a beautiful beach within steps of the lobby, walking distance to many shops/restaurants within Kihei, and less than an hour between the airport, West Maui, the start of the road to Hana, and central Maui/Haleakala (all places we were also able to visit on our trip). The room itself, while some might complain was small, was comfortable, clean, and just what we needed after long days of exploring Maui. The room hosted a comfortable queen size bed, cable TV, and a clean bathroom with a nice shower. The only issue I had was being woken up by the roosters (which roam around everywhere in Maui) and some people walking past our room in the mornings. Aside from that, the room was totally worth what we paid for and made our stay in Maui quite affordable and enjoyable!

Thank for for your great review. The hotel rooms are on the smaller scale, but honestly visitors don’t spend a lot of time in the rooms. They’re out exploring the island al all the beauty it has to offer. Maui is one of the most expensive islands to visit. Thank you for telling all it is also affordable. Aloha

The selling point of this place is the location and proximity to a swimmable beach. Just right outside a few steps away.

Pros – Location, Location, beach front access, food on site, general store, free parking and free Wifi. Beach is wonderful

Cons – Do not expect the front desk to actually help you out with any issues you may have. Front desk closes at 5:30pm required a security guard to let us to our room. These are condos so some owners live there. They are supposed to notify you when they are planning construction. Room 401 above us did not, they were running power equipment from 4 hours every day. We notified the front desk 3 times and they shrugged their shoulders. We just wanted a courtesy note or times that they planned to work.. Not unreasonable??
Room was adequate single king bed (Nothing like the website photos) but dingy and the window was duct taped together. We checked about a late check out due to airlines canceling our flight. They stated we had to wait till the last day at checkout to inquire about a late check but, when we did they stated all rooms were booked and could not allow this… If they were just up front 7 days earlier. Parking is mixed resort and public. While they do have spots reserved for you we constantly had to get the security guard to point us to a preferred spot.
Due to COVID and water conservation they only cleaned the rooms and exchanged new towels every 3 days. They NEVER came to our room once. Only on the 4th day did we ask for a housekeeping visit. They did clean the room. Only other time we saw house keeping was on day 8 of checkout.. When she knocked on our door at 9am…….

We felt like the stay was just adequate, could have been much better.

Mahalo for you comments. Sorry about missing housekeeping, which is the third day after your arrival. Guest cam always call us to request service of their room. The reason for waiting until the day before you check out for a late arrival is there might be a cancellation. Like the rest in our industry we are handicapped by the lack of employees and the lack of people that want to work.

I’ve been to the Mana Kai many times for the beach or great yoga studio, but never stayed there until Feb 2020.
We were very disappointed in the room we were assigned. Based on the pictures we felt the rooms were misrepresented greatly.
As frequent travelers this is not a “hotel room”; it is a very small studio.
When we checked in we immediately went down to the desk and were told we could “upgrade” to another hotel room for over $500 additional per night. When we had already paid over $1700 for 4 nights.
The “hotel room” was so small the toilet is conveniently just two steps from your pillow. There is nowhere to unpack your suitcase or to place anything larger than one small carry on. Two people is a crowd. College dorm size refrigerator in room, no freezer. No ice machine in the hotel or sanitary paper cups.
It’s Hawaii so we were outside as much as the weather allowed during our stay. Feeling very ripped off at the Mana Kai and managers were not accommodating when asked kindly to make it right.

Thank you for your review. I am not clear on howe you booked your reservation or what site you used. Our official web site is pretty explicit as to what the square footage f the unit is, 210 s.f and no lanai balcony. Other companies that have the capabilities of booking units may not be as clear. The other thing is the price difference between a hotel type room and a one bedroom unit. I am sorry you feel ripped off and our managers could not simply upgrade you to a large room.

Super mediocre. Actually quite disappointing so we left a night early (and happily forfeited our fully paid room to get out of there).

Good: The staff were great, very polite and helpful. It’s great that they have plenty of assigned parking for guests and a nice beach front spot and also nice area in front of then beach with ample lounge chairs so didn’t see folks going and guarding spots early in the morning. The shop on site has a good supply of food/drinks and miscellaneous items that you’ll need!

The not good: where to start…

Our room was horrible. See the photos on the web of the updated 1 Bed Ail’i Ocean View and then the actual unit we were in. While the appliances were new a few years ago, there was left over trash in a closet, the countertops and cabinets were hideously filthy, the TV was very out dates, part of the shower didn’t work, the couch was dated and uncomfortable, and there was minimal dresser space. Would have been fine for a night, but not a great way to start a vacation.

Seems like most rooms share a common entry way with a secure door and then you have your own door to your room. Our “neighbor” enjoyed getting up early and going in and out of their room often at early hours and letting the door slam shut. And could even hear the doors slam down the way.

Though the place is smoked free, this isn’t enforced. Enjoyed the wafting cigarette smoke coming in to our condo multiple times.

The 5 palms restaurant seems convenient especially with the 20% off… but there were no spots saved for note guests and no reservations so wait times were often an hours. The 20% off actually only applies to only a single meal. And though we went in the evening thinking we were having dinner, appears we were there for happy hour and couldn’t use our 20%off.

Is this place horrible? No, and in fact it seems many people have been coming here for years and love it. But looking at what was expected based on the o line description and photos, definitely feel duped. Was not worth it at all, and in fact leaving a night early and losing that paid room and paying to go a night early to our next place was worth it…

We booked a hotel room for 5 nights as we celebrated my 30th Birthday in Maui. Honestly, this hotel was a perfect spot. The room, although on the small side, had a great view of the ocean (if you look past the parking lot, which is easy with those crashing waves as the backdrop). We loved it's proximity to most of our excursions, and the hotel bar and restaurant was a perfect quick bite when we needed it. The beachfront proximity was also great, and there was wonderful snorkeling (and turtles!) just outside our door.

Things to improve on: we couldn't change the TV channels without having the cabinet open and the TV was kind of small/far from the bed.

Mahalo for your good review. We are fortunate to be in such an outstanding location. The cabinets in that particular room dictate what size TV we can put in there. Most of the other Ali'i hotel rooms have a 50" TV and not as many cabinets. Thank you for choosing us to stay with. Aloha

We have stayed at the Mana Kai Maui a bunch of times and have had nothing but good things to say, however, this last stay was terrible!

This trip we stayed in room 710 A and B. The sheets were stained, the dishwasher, oven, AND microwave were broken, and during our week stay, there were no attempts to fix anything. The only appliances that worked were the toaster oven, and fridge. The couch was stained with dirt and oil, and the fan had one setting, low, and that’s a problem seeing as how the unit also had no air conditioner.

Underneath the beds had not seen a broom in a long time. There was sand, pieces of plastic and my 10 yo found medication.

The best part was the management company asking that at the end of our stay, WE pay to wash the towels!! We did not.

You are assigned a parking space but building management does not enforce it. Every single time we left, someone would take our spot. The front desk just shrugged their shoulders. We would have to park in the public lot and wait for our spot to reopen so we could repark 😡

There are some very nice units. I would think that there would be some standards that each owner would have to adhere to. Apparently not.

Sorry to hear 710 was not up to your liking. It is not in the on-site rental program. We manage 36 two bedrooms and if we have the availability in circumstances like this, we have the ability to move guests to another unit. Our on-site rental program does have unit category standards. Try us next time.

We had a wonderful experience at Mana Kai Maui which really surpassed our expectations. The location was the key draw to this place and it did not disappoint. We loved this picturesque beach with stunning sunsets, sandy beach and coral reefs for great snorkeling. Mana Kai has a great setup with lounge chairs on a grassy area just above the beach and a lovely pool area. We had a great view from our 8th floor Ali'i Ocean View room and spacious balcony area. It was newly furnished, very clean and modern. Full kitchen was great, and there was lots of storage for our clothes and luggage during our stay. (My only suggestion would be a dimmer switch or nightlight in the bathroom. The frosted glass door allowed too much light into the bedroom when someone used the bathroom at night.) Every single staff member we encountered, from our phone calls months ago, to everyone we interacted with at the Mana Kai, was friendly and helpful. We loved having our own parking spot, and the convenience of Zack's deli. We only dined at 5 Palms for breakfast, and loved the view, the service and the food. We would definitely recommend Mana Kai and would love to return someday!

This resort was beautifully designed! We stayed in 614A in June 2021 for my 50th birthday trip to Mauiiiiiiii! And while that within itself was a great surprise... the Mani Kai Maui Resort was an excellent choice. The morning sunrises, the midday & afternoon views, the evening sunsets and views were just breath taking. Our condo overlooked the beach and ocean and the sounds of the ocean were wonderful. The resort itself had a restaurant called the 5 Palms onsite along with a sundry and a place that you could rent gear of needed. Parking was no hassle and accessing the beach, pool, and everything in between was the best! The one bedroom open space condo had a full walk in kitchen fully equipped with whatever you needed! The bathroom was spacious enough and the living room/bedroom area was perfect! And the balcony....oh my...was on point! We enjoyed a few breakfasts and some evening cocktails/appetizers on the patio while we enjoyed each other's company along with the nice weather and breath taking views! The Mana Kai Maui is a great destination choice when visiting Maui! Highly recommended

None that I ever noticed. It is possible that at happy hours with long lines and people talking, you might hear them if you are on your balcony directly above. Like on the second floor. I have never experienced this.

The property provides chaise lounges for use on their grassed area, but they do not allow those to be taken onto the beach. We were never exposed to other fees, except I think that the State adds some sort of accom tax. There is another restaurant next door (Sorrentos?) but I can't comment on it as we did not try. The large hotels (Four Seasons etc) all have nice restaurants - starting about 15 to 20 min walk south down the beach.
