If you are looking for a clean air-conditioned bed and bathroom centrally located for all attractions on Maui...and you don’t want to pay 450+/night, this place is great! Unlike others we found the staff VERY welcoming and the private courtyard pool and small beach were great for that easy day of non-touring. Yup...1 microwave...but rooms have a fridge for fruit and drinks and markets and COSTCO very close! The $1600 we saved (7 nights) paid for all our meals and tours and most of the car rental.

This place was perfect for our needs. Close to the airport and a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance. We received vouchers for breakfast at the restaurant next door, Tante's Island Cuisine, $25 value. The vouchers were limited to three choices but the food was plentiful and good. The rooms were clean and well kept. It does have a small pool but we were on the good too much to try it. Our last day we planned on checking out, spending the day at the beach, using the public showers and then heading to the airport. When I mentioned this at check-out the person at the desk told me they had a hospitality room, shower included, we could come back and use on our way to the airport and even gave us towels to use at the beach, what a great service!

This hotel is a throwback to the '60's with its layout and room types but it is in a great location on the beach, close to the airport, and the staff is very attentive and keeps the property clean and rooms are nicely appointed. Restuarant next door is reasonably priced and extremely varied in offerings. Shuttle service to airport was quick and responsive.

When we arrived at the motel (not hotel), we were struck by the beautifully decorated lobby, gorgeous courtyard, and the ocean view. Our positive impression of the place stopped there. We arrived at our room and felt like we’d entered a dark cave. There was no light if you wanted the privacy of the shades, and it was scarcely decorated. We were disappointed in the lack of a homey feel. The bed was hard, and the bedding left little to be desired. All you had for your nights sleep was two thin sheets, two tiny pillows, and a worn fleece blanket. I woke up sore each morning from tossing and turning. I asked the front desk for a throw blanket to keep warm with by the pool or beach at night, and I received a very weird look. Hotels are supposed to be cozy and feel like a temporary home. We booked the “garden room” thinking it would have a green, lush view, and we instead had a view of other rooms in the building across the pathway and a singular palm tree. The photos you see are just professional photos. They’re framed just right to trick you into thinking your getting a quality experience.

The WORST part of our stay involved their complete lack of attention/commitment to keeping their property clean of litter. The courtyard is cleaned once a day (after the pool), and there are few trashcans on the property, so when you go outside in the morning, you’ll spot trash and plastics strung about. Beyond that, I was saddened by the quality of the beach. I spotted trash consistently and a disappointing amount of microplastics. When I suggested taking the time to keep their beach clean at the front desk, I was told that it was the state’s beach and therefore not their responsibility. That is a horrible excuse. Considering people come here to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii and its wildlife, you’d expect them to take responsibility for the beach and the ocean life it serves as refuge for. It bothers me to see trash, especially plastics, so close to the ocean, so I cleaned up these areas. This should be a huge priority for them. The marketing photos are a façade. This motel has a ton of room for improvement in priorities and attention to detail before I’d ever consider staying again.

Aloha SabrinaandDavidh: Thank you for staying with us and for your frank review. I was disappointed and surprised to read you were not happy with your stay as many guests prefer the beds in the Garden Wing rooms. I apologize you felt our website photos were not sufficiently comprehensive. Your idea about providing throws for outdoor use is interesting and I have begun to look into the feasibility of providing such, especially on winter evenings. I am extraordinarily disappointed you found a noticeable amount of litter on the property, My team and I spend a quite a bit of time policing the hotel and I will share your remarks with them in order to do better. My team and I also do occasional beach clean ups. I am a stickler for providing accurate visual depictions of my hotel; the marketing photos represent the property the majority of the time. While many guests remark on our friendliness and cleanliness, I apologize this was not your experience in the five nights you stayed with us. A Hui Hou, Bill Rees General Manager Maui Seaside Hotel

Had trouble staying connected to the internet. Not using fitted sheets was awful!!!! As soon as one gets in bed, everything comes loose. When I’d turn over, the bottom sheet and piece of material under it created big lumps that needed to be pulled straight during the night.
I required & reserved an accessible room. It simply had grab bars, a shower chair that DIDN’T fit into the tub, plus a very slippery surface when soap ran off me. I showered hanging on to the grab bar for dear life. It was very scary. The next day, I did ask for a tub mat & one was provided so I recommended those are offered to anyone having to use a tub shower. Last, but not least, I felt like it was bate & switch. When we stayed there before Covid, we were given one of the rooms in the buildings featured in ads & on the internet. I was not even aware there were dumpy buildings behind there, where my accessible room was assigned this time. I was told the rooms we stayed in before are considered premium rooms & it would be an additional $69 plus tax & fees per night. I couldn’t afford another $400 so I stayed in a back building & then sat most days in the breezeway with my Maui family.

Aloha rosemarye2107: Thank you for staying with us and for your candid remarks about our accessible rooms. Some accessible rooms have bathtubs and shower chairs while some rooms have roll-in showers. I have asked our engineering and housekeeping departments to review the room in which you stayed to be sure it is truely accessible. We have no accessible rooms in our poolside section; all accessible rooms are in the three story annex building away from the pool. We hope you will give us another look on your next visit to Maui. I recently stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and all around was satisfied with my experience. Quick check in/check out, friendly cleaning crew and front desk staff, and a clean overall property. Decent price for a decent stay. Nothing too negative to say about this hotel. The location was good for driving to local restaurants and more secluded beaches, but you also had access to a decent number of cuisines within walking distance of the hotel area (i.e., italian, japanese, american). There is a pool area in the middle courtyard and you also have access to a little beach area through the back of the property. The parking was a bit tight, especially finding something late at night.

Overall, it’s a fine hotel, nothing particularly amazing stood out to me in comparison to other hotels and resort areas I stayed in while on maui, hence the Average rating. Id recommend this place to a friend if they were looking for an affordable and attractive stay at a hotel.

I was initially skeptical because the photos here aren’t that glam. And yes, this hotel isn’t glam. But I ended up being really satisfied with the stay here. The price ended up being very reasonable for Maui (the hotel ended up being sold out way early). The location was near the airport and very centralized for our whole vacation. It’s not super close to anything except Iao Valley State Park which was very close. During our stay, we did the Road to Hana, saw the sunrise at Haleakalā Volcano, and enjoyed the beaches of the west and south shore. I’d say the location was most ideal to hitting all those spots.

It had a nice pool, the rooms were always clean, and the service was courteous.

Parking wasn’t ideal and cost $12 a night. I noticed they did staff a security person at least one of the nights (Friday) for the overflow parking area.

We stayed in the Tower Rooms which was more spacious than the main building.

All around, I would stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights as a group of 3 families with 3 rooms. The rooms were clean on arrival and spacious which was great with 2 toddlers. The pool was nice and there was beach access, although it’s more of a bay than a beach. There are shopping centres about 10 minutes walk in both directions. BUT, the customer service was terrible. We had to book in to have the rooms serviced, even with a 4 night stay. The instructions were to call before 9 to request it. We asked for our room to be cleaned daily. It was done once and when we followed up the next day, we were told ‘but you had it serviced yesterday’. My parents and cousin (and her family) both called hours before 9am and were told they had no time to clean their rooms. There were many excuses for rooms not being cleaned. There were two complimentary plastic bottles in the room which was nice, however they wanted to charge $5 for extra bottles when our room was for 4 people. The on site restaurant was ok. Even though they say they have a free shuttle to the airport, it is unreliable and not readily available, causing stress when you are trying to get to the airport. We ended up catching a taxi as the shuttle was running too late.

Aloha nikb890: Thank you for staying with us and for your candid review. I apologize for the lapses in our housekeeping service and will speak to both my front office manager and executive housekeeper regarding your experience. I usually suggest contacting the front desk the day prior to your request for housekeeping service and will reiterate to the team the need to be sure we carry through on the guests' requests. I also apologize regarding the shuttle service and have shared your comments with that department. The shuttle normally departs the property for the airport on the top of the hour between 7am and 8pm; unfortunately, while you were here, a mechanical issue meant we substituted a smaller van for our larger one and thus were unable to accommodate your entire party in one trip. The smaller van will make multiple trips between the hotel and the airport as needed. Thank you again for staying with us. Ke Aloha No, Bill Rees General Manager Maui Seaside Hotel

This little hotel is great! Think back to the 1960's when people stayed in simple, clean and small hotels. No need big resort luxury hotel; this is just a lovely accommodation. Ask for a room on the ocean side, not looking out into the parking lots. The hotel is quiet, private, with a small refrigerator & coffee pot in each room. I needed to stay in Kahului so this location was perfect. The staff has aloha (but that works both ways - act nice and appreciative. Never demanding or irritated.) Leave money for housekeeping & your room will be super serviced. I can't compare that to what happens if you don't leave money. Kick back, slow down, lucky you live or visit Hawaii.

Visited the hotel for my granddaughters 5th birthday.
Was pleasantly surprised at all the renovations to the property. Front desk area was inviting and easily accessed. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Kylie took very good care of us. Pool area is so beautiful. Simple yet very inviting. I especially enjoy sitting on the lounge chairs in the water. Great idea!
Railings and walkways were all updated. Love the forestry look of the railings. Nice!

Our room was a family room with three beds, and mini refrigerator. Always very clean and perfect for a family with children.
To my surprise the self washer and dryers were all updated and electronically operated.

Everything said our stay was perfect.
Very impressed with all the improvements at this hotel.
