For visitors to Hawaii - it is a must visit; for residents of Hawaii - it is a great spot to get away. It is a marvelous "Throw back" to what coming to Hawaii was all about before the "Disneyesque" hotels were built on all these islands. I have reviewed great properties from Twin Farms, the Caruso in Ravello, Le Bristol and Ritz in Paris, the Connaught in London and Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand. They were 5 stars in all dimensions of their properties, experience and service. THIS IS NOT THE SAME KIND OF 5 STAR REVIEW. First the good - the setting and bones of the place are great; the staff try very hard to please and are very pleasant; the restaurant was surprisingly good for all meals. What needs work - (and please keep in mind this place is hard to reach and in a very small community): property needs better upkeep; the rooms could use a makeover (flooring, furniture, bathroom - especially bathroom lighting); the amenities need to be "cleaned up" - example the 3 hole mini golf course needs landscaping work and golf clubs should at least be cleaned daily. This place could stand an infusion of capital - minimal would be a "clean up on aisle 7" - meaning core maintenance; moderate - would be a room redo; dining room redo; and a large investment could make this a premium destination (a makeover). It is a very unique place - one that I would again say is a must for visitor or resident. I highly recommend spending the money on an Ocean Front Bungalow or Suite.

Our visit here was perfect!! We stayed in a beachside bungalow (which is well worth the price) and couldn’t have been happier. This was a pit stop on our road to Hana for two nights and I absolutely loved how relaxing it was. The sunrise is perfect here. You can dine at the resort or grab a bite from near by food trucks. I already miss the sound of the waves when I sleep.

Everything was excellent and I would recommend to anyone. We stayed in one of the beach front villas and we could not have been happier. The rooms were spacious, modern and fully equipped. The views are wow, the grounds and pool were impeccable, and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I had read some reviews of underwhelming food but we found the meals to be varied, carefully prepared and with depth in flavor, served with professionalism. Great place. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Stopped for lunch after the Road to Hana drive. You need not be a guest to dine at the restaurant. Park across the street. Mask and Vaccination cards required. Ceviche was different; but ok. Fish tacos were very good. Sit on the lanai and enjoy the Pacific in the distance.

Our stay at the Hana-Maui Resort was very relaxing. Daily activities at the resort, all of which are free to the guest, as well as sports equipment. I girlfriend and I spent the day exploring Hana, thanks to the free bikes that were provided by the hotel. The staff here were extremely kind and welcomed us as if we too were local. They provided us with the location of the food trucks and coffee that keep the locals and visitors to Hana on their feet. Everything really is walking distance, but the bikes helped us see most of Hana all in a single morning. We also borrowed some tennis rackets and tennis balls to play at the tennis court, which is also conveniently available on the premise and can be held onto for as long as we wanted. Dinner service at the resort was fairly slow. It took us over 20 minutes to receive our two dishes. Breakfast, on the other hand, was rather quick, taking under 10 minutes for four of us to get our food. Although there isn't any air conditioning in the rooms, leaving the mesh frame open allowed the cool ocean breeze to sneak into our room and keep us cool throughout the night. If anything, they include a standup fan in the rooms in case you need an extra source of air flow. There is excellent signal for those on Verizon/Google Fi/T-Mobile. AT&T's service is good enough but not as great. Overall our stay was great and we'd love to come visit here again!
