The Cottages are not for everyone. If you want peace and quiet, relaxation and tranquil sunsets, then this is the place for you! If you are looking for busy crowded beaches, $$$$ meals/bars, this is NOT for you! We had an ocean view room and listened to the roar day and night. Tim and Jasmine were especially helpful as was...

This property is simply one-of-a-kind, both in its makeup and its setting. Gorgeous grounds, full of enormous trees and exotic plants, surround the 60 historic homes that once served sugar cane plantation owners, managers, and workers. The cottages thus range in size and comfort, but even the smallest and lowliest are charming. The property is professionally managed by Coast Hotels...

Aloha! Thank you for your review. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed the old Hawaiian charm during your stay; hopefully the roosters didn't wake you up too early. Thank you for choosing Waimea Plantation Cottages and we look forward to your next visit. Mahalo!

We selected Waimea Plantation the weekend of Waimea Town Celebration ( a fun local event of music and fun). Cottages closest to the ocean are best. Beach not that great but sunsets behind Nihihau are spectacular. Pack in your own supplies, ( food and drink). There is no restaurant on site and restaurants in town are limited in number. A...

Having stayed in two of the cottages for our stay I have conflicting opinions. The first cottage was closer to the front desk and had no view. The porch was lovely. The price we paid(and we supposedly got an upgrade) was a lot for the condition of the place. It was big and charming but it needed some serious upgrades...

Aloha! Thank you for your review. The island of Kauai is unlike all the other Hawaiian islands. The island and our cottages provide a very historic, traditional Hawaiian charm. Thank you for choosing Waimea Plantation Cottages and we hope to see you again soon! Mahalo!

The Plantation Cottages are without a doubt set on a very nice piece of property. Add that to the peaceful surroundings of the town and it is heavenly. Serenity with the exception of the roosters. Each cottage is unique and well furnished. There could be a bit of upgrading done perhaps but overall, well maintained. Staff are friendly and accommodations...

If you want a quiet property, Old Hawaiian Style, stay here. If you want a bellboy looking for tips, loud party atmosphere, and room service.... Don't stay here. My sixth or seventh trip to the cottages and each time, does not disappoint. My biggest complaint is that the pillows are too puffy....

These cottages are a lovely getaway. They are close to some great hiking trails in the Waimeia Canyon, and are within walking distance to the restaurants and shops in Waimeia town. Some beautiful, uncrowded white sand beaches could be found to the West, and one could also drive East to Poipu for more "resorty" beaches. It took me about an...

wonderful setting, nicely appointed cottages, lots of privacy. Had the benefits of a resort, but was much more peaceful and secluded than most resorts. For getting away and enjoying a relaxing atmosphere we could not have hoped for any better experience.

We spent four nights in a quaint cottage just off the beach. Each morning I enjoyed coffee and the partial view of the ocean from our front porch. I liked to listen to the sound of the surf and the chickens that freely roamed the property. Out cottage was equipped with everything we needed and it was in good condition....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Private, individual plantation cottages set on a historic 27-acre coconut plantation in a beachside setting close to Kauai's famous Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. Each self-contained cottage has been fully restored with modern appliances, full kitchens, and amenities. The simple, comfortable charm, genuine history and beautiful grounds allow guests to enjoy a unique experience unlike any other in the islands. Waimea Plantation Cottages offers beautiful settings for Wedding Celebrations, Anniversaries, Family Reunions, and Corporate Business meetings. Note: The restaurant will be closed temporarily as we remodel and transition the restaurant to a new restaurant operator and will re-open in mid-to-late fall of 2013. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience. During this transition, we suggest trying some of the other dining options in Waimea Town such as Wrangler's Steak House. But do come and try our new restaurant once it reopens! ... more   less

“Get ocean view cottage!”

“Bring Everything for cooking, including salt & pepper. They provide dishes, and a few pots, and silverware. Bring bug repellent . ”

“Cottage 69 is an older cottage so you shouldn't expect everything to be perfect. Our bathroom had some mold in the shower, but not enough to call and complain about. Realize that you're in a tropical environment so these things some times happen. Mosquitoes will get into the cottage! Just turn your lights down at night and they won't be too much of a problem. The refrigerator seemed to be turned down when we arrived, so it took a little time to get it nice and cold.”

“We booked an superior ocean view cabin. It doesn't cost much more and it was lovely. We weren't right on the beach (that's another category up) but the view was unobstructed and framed perfectly in the distance by coconut palms.”
