First a disclaimer -- This is part of Marriott's Vacation Club and I am an owner (just not at this resort). I traded in through Interval International. My husband and I stayed here for a week. It's our second time. It is important to understand that this is part of Marriott's Vacation Club which is separate from the hotel chain. There is no room service, no maid service, and only a small pool side restaurant that is open minimal hours. So, if these things are important to you -- don't book here. They are not important to me and I love the place. Room Assignment: Because of the way the resort is designed there are only a few true ocean front views. Most of the ocean view rooms only give a partial view over a parking lot. We stayed in one the first time we came. It was rather windy, but I thought the view was OK. The ocean front rooms are also right over the pool, lounger chairs and pool bar, so they are not that quiet. The front buildings Hale 1, 2, 3, and 4 are situated around the pools. So, if this is what you want, those are the buildings to ask for. The back part of the resort (Hale 3, 4, 5, and 6 is situated around an incredibly beautiful pond, and water falls, and has beautiful landscaping. This area is on the whole pretty quiet. This is where we were, and we loved it. Both of us sat on the Lanai and read. I drank my coffee there. We were in room 6203. The villas have 2 bedrooms, a combination living room and dining area, a full kitchen that is well stocked, and 2 bathrooms. If there is a kitchen item you don't have you can call and they will provide. I love mashed potatoes and I called for a potato masher and it arrived within 10 minutes. I love going to the farmers market and fresh fish store, then eating in. If you like to eat out regularly you will have to go off the property. But, there are a number of really good restaurants within 5 minutes. The interior of the villa we stayed in was well maintained and spotless when we arrived. The resort is incredibly well kept and all the employees I met were helpful. All the areas are cleaned regularly and there seems to be a large crew of gardeners seeing to the grounds. The grass is beautiful and there are people getting rid of weeds regularly. There are numbers of birds to watch around the pond. The concierge was extremely helpful in setting up activities and a massage. The beach in front of the resort is incredible. There is swimming and snorkeling. Monk seals and turtles were there each day.

We rented from an owner and had an excellent week. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit was absolutely perfect for our family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We need the space and it was great to have a kitchen, washer and dryer. We were able to pack light and do laundry often. The pool areas are great and the beach is beautiful. We were always able to get chairs either by one of the pools or in the grass by the beach. We saw seals and turtles every day on the beach which was amazing. We had lunch at the Honu Bar often which was great. The only hiccup we had was that we went for lunch one day and when we got back, the hotel had removed all of our personal belongings from our seats and someone else was sitting there. Was pretty annoying as we were just gone eating lunch for about an hour and we had to retrieve all of our stuff at the lobby and find new seats. I understand they don't want people reserving seats and not sitting there but there has to be some common sense used. Anyway, everyone we met that worked at the hotel were incredibly pleasant and helpful. We were able to walk to some shops and restaurants across the street but you definitely need a car to see all of the amazing sites on the island. We loved Kauai so much and would definitely return to the Marriott.

We had back to back reservations at this resort and the front desk made a big deal about how we had to move rooms because we had different view categories. We offered to take a downgrade of the second reservation to stay in the room because we had a family of five and our MIL with us. They made us check out of our first room by 10am on a rainy day and didn’t give us our new room until 3:15. In the end the new room looked at exactly the same place as the first room, and was set back further from the ocean than the first room. The numerous times I asked to the front desk to help us, they just shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn’t do anything and told me the managers wouldn’t help me and when I complained that they moved us around and left us out in the rain for a full day for no View upgrade at all, they just said “thank you” in a patronizing tone.

Our friends have a time share at this Marriott resort and we enjoyed an afternoon at the Honu Pool Bar & Grill. We had drinks and food, enjoyed the beach and the ocean view. Saw a Monk Seal that came up on the beach to rest. Not the most restful place for the seal, lots going on swimmers (people & dogs), surfers and beach walkers. Beautiful grounds. We actually visited in May of 2018.

This Beach Club is well-maintained and beautiful! Great place for families or couples. The beaches here are great and we see turtles and seals every time. The snorkeling isn't the best, but there is a great boogie boarding beach close by and the turtles will swim right next to you. I wish there was a second pool closer to the back of the property. If your room is back there, it's a bit of a walk to the beach and pools but still not bad at all. The staff is kind and does a great job!
