We stayed at the Koa Kea for the first part of our honeymoon. We absolutely loved it. It’s small and so very quiet. It’s also beautiful. The staff is very friendly and nice. We can’t wait to come back.

Hotel's Favourite
Charming hotel for couples or those looking to get away from some of the nearby “busier” resorts. Quiet and peaceful with terrific views of the ocean especially at sunset. Excellent food, especially Red Salt, which we think is one of the best, if not the best, restaurants on the island. Walking distance to a few local restaurants and shops off property. Very friendly staff. Everything about this place just felt easy and relaxing.

We booked here because we wanted something smaller and quieter than the big resorts. The hotel looks like it stepped out of the 50's on the outside but the rooms are being renovated nicely. We had a very large oceanfront room. The bed was comfortable. A lot of storage space. Nice bathroom with separate toilet room and a large shower. Nice bathroom amenities. Good pool bar and restaurant, and very nice inside restaurant. Food was excellent. Definitely need reservations for inside. Still a little TLC needed but nothing that would stop someone from staying here. Free bottle of wine for booking directly, at least that is what I think it was for. They do have a spa and outdoor message tables. Also a water sport hut that gives surfing instruction as well as other things. Well spaced lounge chairs on the lawn, and lounge chairs with umbrellas around the pool. Excellent sunset views.

We chose this resort because it was smaller and had great reviews for customer service. The reviews were right. The customer service was top shelf. Dean (worked outside around the pool) was especially helpful. Every staff person we encountered was kind and helpful. I would stay here agin in an instant. The sushi at Red Salt was excellent.

Can’t say enough about this resort and the attention given by everyone here. It is a two story structure with not a cray amount of people (as our hotels on the other two islands we visited were). This one is just a peaceful and serene beachfront property. You can relax by the pool, grab lunch. D a drink at the pool bar or walk along the beach. They have activities onsite to do (snorkeling, surfing lessons, swimming) and within a half hour ride are boat tours, helicopter rides, sailing, etc). The food is awesome onsite or at area restaurants. It was awesome!!

This is a small boutique hotel. This was our 2nd time visiting because we were so impressed with our first stay. Sadly, it didn’t live up to our 1st visit. The pros: - lovely, friendly staff - great location in Poipu Beach - daily water and nespresso refills - spa staff is excellent - book only if you get resort fees and breakfast included - quiet and easy to navigate - dinner at Red Salt was delicious (book in advance) - valet & room service were excellent Cons: - daily cleaning service is not included and/or needs to be scheduled in advance (what? Crazy) - they are doing construction on 1/2 the property so very noisy - breakfast was so-so - hot tub very small -$25 daily valet if you have a car - not directly on the beach I would only book this hotel if you have included breakfast and resort fees. Be prepared for construction noise if you like to hang out by the pool. Plan all activities and dinner reservations in advance- Kauai tourists are back, but not the level of service.

We were very please with accommodations and the service. They take Covid very seriously and the rooms were cleaned on request. They deliver fresh towels, coffee pods, anything you need in minutes. Very impressive. Fresh water bottles replenished daily and an Nespresso machine with creamers in each room. The pool and hot tub were immaculate and there were ample chairs for a hotel this size. Free chair covers and beach towels were available on demand. We loved the sushi bar at the Red Salt. This is not on the same scale as a Marriot or Sheraton but so much nicer because there were less children and less noise. We would return in a heartbeat.

It was incredible. We loved the resort. It was absolutely beautiful. The place was so peaceful, quiet, relaxing. We went over a week during spring break and while there were a lot of guests on the island, the resort was quiet and not so busy. We enjoyed every second. The valets, and all of the workers were so incredibly nice and friendly and were helpful in providing locals places for us to eat and visit. I can’t say enough amazing things about this resort. We will be going back.

My daughter and I had a great three day stay at Koa Kea. The room was ready for a refresh but the service was topnotch! The food at the pool bar and Red Salt was excellent! It is a lovely oceanfront boutique hotel with all of the amenities of a larger property. I will be back for sure!

We spent the final two days of our honeymoon at this property and could not have been more pleased. Our ground-floor room fronted the beach - it was less than 20 steps away - and the pool, just around the corner, was quiet and away from the large, noisy crowds further down the beach. The lei greeting upon arrival is a nice touch - so is the complimentary bottle of Napa Valley wine in our room as well as the daily delivery of bottled waters. The small size of this property allows room service to be delivered quickly - and the in-house Red Salt Restaurant is wonderful. This is not an over-the-top "White Lotus" type of property with huge atriums and shopping malls in the hotel - this is a smaller, classy, restored older hotel where you don't have to take a 15 minute walk to get to the pool or the beach or the restaurant. The friendly, gracious staff gets you what you need and doesn't over-cater; the bell desk/valet offers helpful advice, and room service is delivered quickly. Everything is clean and well-attended. Incredibly comfortable bed. It is the most relaxing hotel stay I've ever experienced; we hope we are fortuate enough to return some day.
