The staff was very nice. The rooms were horrible. The hotel has a humidity problem. There are dehumidifiers in the rooms but they don't work. My asthma was so bad there has to be mold in the rooms. The bath towels were full of holes and stains. There were roaches everywhere. See pics of the roach guts on the wall. I know Hawaii has a lot of roaches but this was horrible. They were in the bathroom, behind the bed, on the desk and dresser. We kept our food in the refrigerator and never threw our trash in the garbage. We had to buy roach spray. The restaurant bar area was nice. The food and drinks were really good. This is the only reason for the second star. Staying here is making me reconsider being a Hilton member. Update: One morning as I was getting dressed I discovered a roach ON my pillow, the exact pillow that my head was on a hour before. I really hope and pray that they weren’t crawling on the bed and on me throughout the nights.

Hotel's Favourite
I highly recommend this Hilton for anyone looking to stay in Kauai. It’s central location allowed us the option of exploring both the north and south part of the island, and the level of service we received was on PAR with a really high end property. We stayed there in June for 10 nights to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday and our anniversary, and we brought our 8 year old daughter with us. Since we are Diamond members with Hilton, we requested an upgrade if it was available. The manager, Ike Cockett, not only upgraded us but he had the most beautiful welcome basket with a bottle of champagne, local fruits, banana bread, snacks, and beach toys waiting for us in our room when we arrived. While our stay was not without issues, the staff was always quick to resolve them and surpass our expectations on every instance. We loved spending our evenings by the bar having food and drinks. The bartenders were very friendly and the area had a beautiful and relaxing view. There are also a bunch of very good local cheap restaurants within 5-10 minute drive. The hotel had some great breakfast options reasonably priced, with semi-outdoor seating with plenty of fresh air. We loved how it was so close to Smith’s luau and garden, and the Wailua river (right next to the hotel) offered kayaking, hiking, and waterfalls. We even took our 8 year old daughter for surfing lessons at the beach next to the resort (within 5 minutes). There is also a huge park with a playground right next to the property that our daughter loved to go to. I could go on and on about this property and the staff that made our stay so enjoyable and memorable. We will definitely be back!

This MOTEL is not up to Hilton standards. I don’t understand how it can be so different from others in the Hilton chain, but it was horrible. Room right off the lobby that I was assigned was loud and busy. I was told that there were no other king bed rooms for my stay even though I’m a Hilton Diamond member. The AC was so loud that I had to take phone calls outside. The dirt one grime on my sliding glass door had messages from past guests written into the dirt. Power went out to my room one morning and it took over 3 hours for maintenance to reset the breaker. I wasn’t really even disappointed that housekeeping missed my room- it was such a janky room that I would have skipped it too.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. It is yards from the one main highway in Kauai so easy to find and provides access to both Waimea Canyon in one direction and Hanalei in the opposite direction. It was cold, windy and rainy when we stayed in early May, 2022, so we didn’t use the pool or beach. We are Diamond and received an upgrade to ocean view. We used our $10/pp per day for a loco moco breakfast and coffee one morning. The bill, with tip, was $54. Kauai is rather expensive for meals. The hotel had a water purification machine in our wing and the water tasted as good as the bottled water that they provide. We just refilled our water bottles rather than adding to the landfill. This is an older property so don’t expect frills. Our room was cleaned daily since they just brought that service back. The AC unit sounded like the noise you hear from inside an airplane if you are sitting close to the engines—it helped block out the crowing of the roosters all day and night. You have to have a car if you are staying anywhere on the island as places are spread out. The free parking lot fills up by 9 pm and people would then park along the curb. The ocean is very dangerous with undertows so I don’t think swimming is advisable. We bought and downloaded a Shaka audio guide which was excellent and gave a lot of historical information as well as telling you when to turn off to see this or that.

We spent 5 nights at this hotel in May. The staff was wonderful and friendly throughout the stay. The main issue was the air conditioning and HVAC setup they have in the rooms. They limit the air conditioning at 68 which had the room feeling muggy and humid. They did have a dehumidifier but the thing spews out it’s own hot air so that didn’t help. This could be a much better hotel but it’s beyond time to upgrade the HVAC. Because of the nature of our trip we spent most days away from the hotel hiking but if we were planning on staying at the hotel all day long it would have gotten annoying most likely.
