For our first trip to the Big Island we decided to stay here for 6 nights. When our room wasn’t ready we were able to check in our luggage and it was brought to our room once it was ready. We luckily got to stay in the Makai Tower. Highly recommend this tower since the activities, pool, spa, restaurants are here and a self parking entrance. The room itself was nice and the shower head/pressure was good. This is rare, it is always bad in my experience. We did not utilize the pool much as it was overcrowded, chaotic, and people hoarded chairs with their towels so no one else could get one, ever. The cafes all closed by 4 which was very inconvenient. Only the Italian restaurant and Kona Bar was open past that. Food is outrageously expensive and the location of the property is about 20 mins from Kona, 1.5 from Hilo so you are stuck eating there or driving a few mins within the resort to the King’s and Queen’s Shops that have some eats, stores. We frequented the Island Gourmet Market for breakfast but that was mediocre. Luckily there was a Starbucks so I went there alot too. The laundry facilities were non-existent. Machines were broken. The only other ones were in a tower across the resort, a maze to get too only for out key NOT work. Resort itself is nice, but I think I would stay in Kona for a few days and Hilo for a few for this to be ideal. Waikoloa is a bit of a drive if venturing around the island like we did. Hapuna Beach was nearby and our fav beach here.

Great food, amazing Luau, friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others. If you don’t want to leave the resort, you don’t have to. They have everything. Oh and a great dolphin show!

The hotel is terrible! We did not get the room we reserved and paid for. The room we did get was filthy dirty, and had dirty sheets on the bed. The towels where on the floor dirty and the trash cans where overflowing. We got zero help from the front desk who were actually very rude about it. It took us a full day just to get clean towels, and never did get room service to replace the sheets or empty the trash. The hotel told us to simply put the trash out side the door. I would highly recommend you avoid this resort at all costs.

We arrived late in the evening and were only staying for one night on the island. This trip is for our honeymoon. Check in was excellent, front desk staff and tram operators were so helpful. But then it went off the rails. The valet attendant asked if we wanted to have our bags brought up to our room, I normally would say no but decided because it was late I’d take advantage of it. It was the WORST decision I have ever made. After we called to retrieve the bags once we got to our room it took awhile and they called back to say, “There are bugs coming from your bags. So we will bring them up and you can check them outside your room. We will also grab the rental car and see if it came from the car.” When we left them OUTSIDE on the sidewalk there was nothing wrong with them. They bring them upstairs and there’s still nothing wrong with them, no bugs. They get the car, nothing in the car. All of this was extremely upsetting and entirely ruined our ONE night here. The management staff was extremely dismissive and unkind when I called back upset about the issue. Frankly, whoever reported this was mistaken, they caused undue stress and panic for something that was simply NOT TRUE. I will not be returning and will not ever recommend this resort to someone else. I cannot trust the staff here.

Just came back from 6 days stay at this property. It was our first time visiting Big island and this area. We stayed in the Ocean Tower. We had a very nice view of the ocean from our room. Hotel grounds are beautiful Our room was dated and in need of updating. There's no beach , you can swim in the lagoon . Food choices after hours are limited. Only one restaurant is open from 5-9pm. Rest close at 4pm . No Starbucks on site , but there are other coffee shops which close around 3 i believe so no coffee after 3 Food is expensive but thats expected Long walk to everything or take slow moving tram . Food choices around the area are limited too. Pizza and burgers mainly. Most Likely will not return

Feels like a fancy resort in Florida except for the strange tram-like thing that goes between the hotels. It’s dirty and stuffy and feels like you’re in a subway in Tokyo. If you’re going to have a tram in an island resort then make it fun and tropical! Very strange.

The Hilton is as massive as they say. We stayed at the Palace Tower on the northern side, which is about a quarter mile from the largest pool area, about 0.4 miles to the parking lot. They do provide a tram that comes every 10 min to assist in transporting you when you don’t want to do the walk. There is also a boat that comes less frequently and is a slower ride if you’re not in a hurry. However, if you are up for walking, the halls connecting the various areas of the property are dripping with Asian artwork. It does keep you fascinated and distracted from the distance. The grounds are also meticulously kept. Each area has its own intrigue - the south pool is the largest with a big slide and 2 hot tubs (but also the most crowded). The dolphin habitat is open for viewing even if you don’t indulge in a paid “dolphin encounter”. We watched the trainers tend to them and have them practicing their “tricks” each morning. They have a dolphin demonstration every Tues, Thurs, and Saturday for about 10 minutes in the large lagoon area. The lagoon area is open to the ocean, and is brimming with activity. This quickly became a favorite of our kids as you can rent paddleboards, snorkel, kayaks, paddleboats, or just swim to the waterfall. There seem to be resident turtles that love frolicking near the waterfall and sunbathing on the rocks in the lagoon. There was also a resident monk seal who napped each day on the sand of the lagoon. (They roped off an area so people cannot get too close to the monk seal). The wildlife here seemed very comfortable with the crowds of people around and they seem to love this lagoon as their home. There is a smaller pool and slide on the northern side, which was also fun. We did miss having a sandy beach on site but the property was so much fun otherwise, we didn’t seem to notice. The sunsets by the lagoon were quite beautiful and peaceful. The room was much nicer than expected. The reviews mentioned an older Palace tower but our room appeared to be renovated. We had an ocean view room and lucked out to be on the top floor. It was next to the construction noise next door at the ocean villas but it didn’t bother us too much. The room was quite large, had a convenient walk in closet area, and separate sink and shower area. The beds and pillows were quite comfortable. While we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room, I did enjoy some peaceful moments on the balcony with a morning coffee, or watching the sunset over the lagoon. Most meals were from the Island Gourmet Market at Queens Marketplace for convenient and tasty take out - we didn’t try the resort food so cannot comment. We only stayed 3 nights but the kids didn’t want to leave. They are begging to come back for a longer stay in the future. Despite the massive feel of the resort, it was grand and impressive, well maintained, and equipped with plenty of fun and entertainment for the whole family. We will definitely stay again.

Honestly pass on this resort if you're choosing it to actually sit at and enjoy the amenities. Most of the pool and lagoon seating is "reservation and rented only" meaning you're paying $100+ a day for 2 to sit by the pool if you want any shade. Otherwise there are 7 total umbrellas on the entire resort. The staff is extremely unhelpful. When all the towel stands were empty and we asked where we could find some, they shrugged at is and said that we could keep walking and looking. I've never been more disappointed with a Hilton hotel. Save your money and book elsewhere where they have seating and better service, or calculate the cabana rental into your trip cost.

It’s TOO big! The property is so expansive, that regardless of where you are staying it is easily a 10-15 minute walk to get to a pool, restaurant or anywhere. The train is slow and never where you need it. There are no signs and water intercepting every path, so while beautiful it is not convenient to spend so much time walking just to grab a drink or coffee. Bars and coffee are limited with very long lines in the morning and amenities are very expensive. $55 breakfast is the only option and while the lagoon is great for an afternoon, $40/hour for a kayak is a bummer. And they sell day passes so it’s ridiculously crowded during popular hours. We rented a private floating cabana and had to deal with kids driving large plastic water tricycles splashing us in our special spot. Too overcrowded, expensive and inconvenient for us.

My family and I just stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort for a week. The resort is beautiful but the rooms are dark and service is lacking. Despite several requests for our room to be cleaned, it was not cleaned for the entire 7 days we were there. The extent of the housekeeping was that they made the beds and dropped off fresh towels and took the trash. I specifically requested for them to actually clean our room for 3 consecutive days and it never happened. There is even a sign in the bathroom stating that any stays over 4 days will get a full cleaning on the 5th day which did not happen. We ate at all the restaurants on-site except the one at the pool. KPC was decent as was the tap room, but again, service was not impressive. They did permit us to have a late checkout at 1pm due to being diamond members but then checkout took forever because the person working at the Hilton honors checkout desk went on break and they had no back up. We are lifetime Hilton honors diamond members and have had good experiences at other Hilton resorts, but unfortunately, would not stay at this one again.
