My husband and I feel very lucky to have found this spot, last-minute, when we discovered that the volcano was active. Cons: thin walls, shared bathroom Pros: very quaint, almost like a ski cabin. Great shared kitchen with freezer, fridge, stove, coffee maker, microwave, all cooking pots and utensils you could need. Nicefree coffee and tea during the lobby hours....

The room was a good deal in a pinch. We booked late and our usual haunts were booked up. Volcano Hale is located relatively close to the shops and restaurants in Volcano Village. I would recommend this for budget travelers on a short-term stay. It is too expensive for a longer term stay. The bathrooms were constantly in use the...

This charming 3-story home was built in 1912. The property is gorgeous, with beautiful landscaping, it takes you back to a simpler time. I will most certainly stay here again, for me, as an artist, it was truly inspirational. If you are looking for a budget friendly getaway close to volcanoes national park, this is it, only 5 minutes to...

My fiance and I stayed here two nights while checking out Volcano National Park. It's located on a dark, quiet road, a quaint little place with shared bathroom. Cozy little room. Not much around for food or entertainment, but a nice place for a quick night or two.

Several (about 12) smallish rooms with queen size beds in one house, with three bathrooms and one decent kitchen, makes for a decent place to stay. The house is extremely susceptible to carrying sound/noise from other visitors: e.g. you can hear soft footsteps and conversations in adjacent rooms clearly, and the toilet flushing might wake you if you're a light...

Very average accommodation, but at the same time very cheap. Our bed had little black bits on the sheets, and I'm not sure what it was - hotel wasn't interested when this was raised. Maybe ok if you're looking for something very basic and cheap.

The place is quite clean, shared bathroom with few rooms, quiet and cheap. Where the trick? Booked from Booking.com under the name of "Kilauea Hospitality Group". There are three structures and the wonderful photos are not related the Volcano Hale, so you think to go somewhere else. Early checkin is not allowed (not a problem), but the receptionist is really...

The hotel (Kilauae Hospitality Group) has 3 properties located at different places. The Volcano Hale is of them. I was mistaken by the good reviews on a concurrent website that regrouped all 3 locations. When I checked-in, I was allocated to the Volcano Lodge and this place let was really disappointing. First, the buidling should be 1 century old. Second,...

Everything was clean and warm, the staff was very helpful, and the space was well-kept and pleasant. We really enjoyed our stay, wish it was longer. Only downside is you can hear what's going on in the kitchen if people are up late, but we knew that going in and it wasn't a big deal.

The old house is a great bargain and so close to the park. Comfy bed and convenient and clean rooms, shared bath and communal kitchen. Has all you need for a great stay and enjoy the wonders of Volcano National Park!

“Make sure you always lock your door when you're in your room-My fiance and I were walked in on twice while just hanging out in our room. The rooms are clearly marked, but people are nosy. It was a little unnerving. Just a doorhandle lock so I was a little worried about leaving some of our stuff in the room, but overall was a cozy little quiet place to stay the night. ”

“A fun experience renting a little room with bathroom next door. Great kitchen facilities in an old quaint and charming house. Very clean and quiet!!! Nicely decorated. Cozy too!! Easy to find and park. I would definitely stay again. Great little residential area too. Very clean bathroom and updated. Easy to find and parking is good. Large kitchen and room for friends at the large table. Great restaurants and three groceries nearby. Quick deli too at grocery nearby with fresh made sandwiches. Volcano park is a short drive away. We enjoyed our time in this little village very much and survived a storm warning with no problem. A great place to meet other travelers too. Thai restaurant up the street. If you cook inside the house you do need to clean up after yourself. There is a refrigerator that you can keep food cold while you're there. Nice grounds too. You will be surprised to see how beautiful the area is. We would definitely stay again. We checked in in one location and stayed in another. We felt safe and assured that all would go well. You will get a good rest here after a day and evening at the volcanic park. Such an amazing sight. Much more than black rock there as it's located in a beautiful tropical forest. You'll enjoy these nice home stays for sure. Friendly staff and very helpful. ”
