We stayed for 2 nights at the end of a 3 week vacation in Maui, Kauai and finally the Big Island. If we could have stayed longer we would have stayed another week. It was the best place we stayed and some of the others took some beating. I don't think we have ever stayed anywhere with such genuinely welcoming...

Beautiful setting, terrific hosts, lovely rooms and a good spot from which to explore Volcano National Park, the southernmost tip of the United States and a stunning black beach. Kenny and Kilohana were helpful and tried to think of everything to make the stay terrific. Loved the front veranda and the frogs chirping at night.

Where to begin? We absolutely LOVED our stay at Kalaekilohana. The perfect retreat that we were hoping for. I stayed for 6 nights (my husband for 4) and enjoyed every minute. The hosts are welcoming and so helpful with day trips and activities recommendations. We saw more than we thought we could with their help. I had bottomless local French...

One of our favorite things is that early morning time on the lanai with all the bird activity. It's a great way to get start the day and we're glad you enjoyed it as well. We appreciate your comments on dinner. We're getting more and more access to locally sourced fruits and vegetables as time goes on. We had the...

This is a beautiful house in a very quiet part of the big island. Kenny and Kilohana are delightful hosts and offer good suggestions for nearby activities, which include Volcano National Park and green sands beach. Fair warning- anything within an hour's drive is "nearby" in this part of the world. Tip: eat breakfast at 7 and leave early in...

It's a great reminder just how large our island is in comparison to our neighbor isles. O'ahu and Maui could fit into our district alone. Our central location helps make the southern half of the island easy to see. Combined with a few nights up north, you can drive less and see more. Thanks for pointing out what a good...

Rooms are lovely and well appointed. I love the front porch. Spent as much time as possible there. Kenny and Kilohana are perfect hosts. We love the decor of the public areas as well as the rooms. Their feather Kahilis are authentic peaces of art work.

It's great for our kahili to get a mention. Pi'i Mauna is the name for the Hawaiian feather standard that graces the center of the house. It roughly translates as "ascending" and metaphorically is the story of how Kalaekilohana came to be. We're forever grateful to those that had a hand in his artwork.

This is perhaps the nicest inn we have ever stayed at, if you factor in the hosts and the ambience as well as the inn itself. The four rooms are very comfortable and attractive, the remainder of the inn is lovely, and the hosts are so welcoming that you feel completely at home. We ate dinner at the inn each...

That is most gracious of you to describe us this way. From the day we began, we envisioned guests who wanted to experience the ambiance and comforts of a full-service Hawaiian inn in a familiar way. The addition of nightly dinner over the last few years has helped bring us closer to that vision. Thank you for helping us remind...

During our week in Hawaii, we stayed at a beach resort, a house in Volcano, then here. Kilaekilohana was to be the relaxing end to the trip - and it was just that. Kenny and Kilohana are amazing hosts. Relaxing spaces, wonderful room, peaceful atmosphere, amazing service, and best of all the food. Breakfast was heavenly. Dinners was thoroughly enjoyed....

We love the great combination of accommodations. We often encourage folks with over a week on our island to split their trip into a stay up north and a stay down south. It has worked really well for most over the years. Of course, we were grateful to be able to do our part. We're happy to hear our meals...

From the moment we arrived we enjoyed every aspect of our time at Kalaekilohana. Kenny and Kilohana are super warm and genuinely welcoming hosts. The Inn has a wonderful feel in part due to the stunning traditional Hawaiian art, decoration and spaciousness where we peacefully relaxed or enjoyed conversation. Our room was beautiful, with windows on two sides, a balcony...

Thanks for all the great thoughts about our breakfast and dinner options. From our onset, we have been committed to providing a safe place for visitors to see some of the art, implements, and adornments that are a part of our everyday life and culture - and ask questions. Go out of your way to stay here. It is everything you could ever ask for from a B&B and more. All bases are covered & everything is thoughtful and luxurious. When we travel, there is often one thing or place that stands out. It's the people you met or the feeling you get. Given that Hawaii is a very special place, we think it's a very generous compliment to suggest we were a highlight of your visit. Mahalo nui.

Kalaekilohana Inn sits on a rise of land at the end of a long drive. It really is as beautiful as the profile photo. It is spacious, impeccably clean and decorated with native Hawaiian art and handicraft. Our room was large and private with windows on two sides, hardwood floors and a fabulous tiled bathroom. Gracious and welcoming, Kenny and...

Thanks for capturing the cultural feel of the inn so eloquently. One of the things we talked about when we were getting ready to open the inn 11 years ago was how we didn't want to oversell what we were. If you would have seen our first couple of websites before our current rendition, you would know that our plan...
