4 adults enjoyed the 2 bedroom cottage for 2 nights. It had everything we needed and more! Extra sunscreen, ziplock baggies for our snacks, and even a hose outside to clean our muddy shoes and pants from a 4 hour jungle hike! The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and two fans in every room. 1 bathroom was adequate...

My family stayed in the cottage four nights on the second half of our big island vacation. It is very private in a rainforest-like setting, including coqui frogs at night and birds in the morning. We enjoyed the sound but they provide ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The kitchen was well equipped and we used the BBQ...

We were received warmly. Enjoyed three breakfasts on the wonderful lanai. Quiet and peaceful location from which you can easily access Hilo, Volcanoes or the east shoreline. We would happily book again.

What are you looking for? This is not a fancy B&B in a historic mansion with gourmet brunch and antiques. And although there is a pool, don't look for a beach and tiki bar. What it has is a very pleasant veranda, perfectly clean rooms, a tasty breakfast featuring lots of fresh tropical fruit - and a spectacular seascape of...

You start your morning enjoying a delightful breakfast with fellow travelers, while enjoying a incredible view of the ocean. After breakfast, take a walk along the volcanic cliff side along the ocean, maybe you will get lucky and see whales traveling along the Hilo coast line. We stayed in the Bamboo room, very clean and comfortable with a wonderful bathroom....

From the front porch where sumptuous breakfasts were served, we basked in the grandeur of the ocean and the crashing waves on the cliffs below. Our gracious hostesses were so welcoming and helpful in providing road recommendations and activities, restaurants in the Volcano area.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life then this is the place to stay. You won't be able to get to the beach there either but there is a pool and places to see are just a short drive away. Highly recommended if you are still "thinking about it". I wanted to steal...

Shakespeare the cat and Mary escorted us into the Bamboo Room for a warm welcome. The room is compact, but the shower is a destination of its own! A well-equipped picnic basket was supplied, but the nearest supplies were in Pahoa, 11 miles down the road. The good thing is, that 11 miles seems shorter every time you drive it!...

Tropical Hawaii beauty at an affordable price. My family and I are notorious for finding affordable lodging gems and this was an outstanding value. We were greeted by the adorable furball Shakespeare the kitty when we arrived. He continued to greet us at every breakfast and swam in the gorgeous pool when we went to it.....we are kitty people so...

We booked three nights at the Ala Kai for our Hawaii trip (along with a stay in our timeshare on the Kona coast), and we are so glad that we did. It was the perfect place to stay for visiting Volcanoes, Hilo, and all of the things to see on this side of the island. The room (Bamboo room) was...
