Best hotel hospitality I have ever received. A small, quaint hotel, nestled near downtown Hilo. This is not your average hotel, but a small family owned operation. The owners are extremely helpful and very inviting. The rooms are cute, cozy, comes with an extremely clean, fully stocked kitchen, and within walking distance to downtown Hilo. A wonderful tropical orchard and...

Our family stayed here for almost a week in July 2012 and were very impressed. The accomodations are quite basic, but very well kept and clean. The grounds are very lush. Fresh fruit is available in the lobby. But the big attraction here is the friendly and knowledgeable staff who cheerfully and knowledgeably advise guests about the many sights and...

The Dophin Bay is "The Hidden Jewel" of Hilo. Yes it's an older hotel. I looked at it as though I was stepping back in time to old hawaii. The room was super clean and comfortable. NO bugs. Yes it's off the beaten path but an easy walk to (everything) downtown. The service was excellent. They offered us snorkel gear...

I read a number of the prior reviews and virtually everything they say is true - both the positive and negative comments. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay and plan to sightsee most of the day, this is a decent, but not perfect, place. The real difficulty is giving a fair rating - i.e., is...

We stayed here from 18 August 2012. We stayed 2 nights in this small hotel. The hotel appeared to have been built in the 1960's and not changed much since but it was the most charming hotel the check in process was efficient once you had manged to climb over the rubble the cat who greets you at the door...

We came to this hotel after a bad experience staying at another location outside Hilo so the booking was made at the last minute. We were lucky enough to get a one bedroom fully self contained unit given the hotel and other rooms were booked out. We were warmly welcomed and our questions answered and we were shown to the...

We stayed one night at the Dolphin Bay on our way to Kauai and it was very pleasant. The staff was so accommodating. The rooms were nice not 5 star but nice, the beds very comfortable. The fresh bananas, papaya, and the tree ripened avocados made our day. The orchids and Jacaranda out back were all in full bloom. We...

From check-in to check-out the staff at Dolphin Bay were friendly, helpful & welcoming. Even before we asked we were offered help in suggesting a place to eat for the night. They had menus for most restaurants so even before we walked into our room (we had a late check in) we knew where we were going for dinner. The...

Ok, now this hotel, which is stretching the word hotel a little, isn't so much a 5 star resort, which it isn't, but rather it is a great place to stay in Hilo. We stayed 3 nights in the 2 bedroom, one bath apartment. It had two queen beds and 3 twins. All were comfortable. One bath was adequate despite...
