We spent two nights at the Hale Kai in August, 2009. We chose this B&B based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The hosts were very accommodating, the Pele Suite was comfortable, the views were spectacular and the breakfasts were great--we even took a later flight just to make sure we had time to eat breakfast....

We are locals and recently stayed here for 2 nights for a leisure weekend in Hilo. I had reviewed here on trip advisor for places to stay in Hilo (there aren't many) and the hotels there are horrible so I'd would have rather stayed in a tent then go to one of them. From reviews and the price and location,...

Coming all the way from Germany we were very happy to stay the first 3 nights on the Big island at this outstanding B & B. The owners are great hosts they had very helpful recommendations for our day trips. We stayed at the bamboo room which has a nice personal atmosphere, a very good king size bed and -...

The Hale Kai B&B was where we started our adventure on the Big Island. They really spoiled us with great accommodations, a spectacular view, and unsurpassed hospitality. The breakfast each morning on the lanai was genteel and charming. If we had it to do over, we would have stayed at this location during our entire time on the Big Island......

We spent 2 of 11 nights here on a trip to the Big Island. The view from the Bamboo room was gorgeous, especially the sunrises, and we liked that we were at the end of the house where other guests weren't walking in front of our room all the time. They had a nice book of personally recommended restaurants in...

We were lucky to stay for 4 nights at Hale Kai and totally enjoyed the experience in a typical Hawaiian oceanfront home, enjoying the sounds of surf and rain, eating delicious breakfasts, and learning about the area from our hosts, Ric and Maria. I have no clue about any negative experiences. Yes, the rooms are not air conditioned (typical for...

Hale Kai is for those people that want a quiet setiing and a great view of the ocean. The rooms are not the most modern but clean and well kept. We slept great after exploring the volcano, waterfalls and botanical garden. The breakfast were scrumptious and plentiful. I read another review that commented "not enough food "but we all had plenty...

We stayed at Hale Kai for four nights and had a GREAT time! Beautiful views, fantastic breakfast, especially the french toast. The room was clean, comfortable, and we had a great view. Falling asleep listening to the sound of the surf was the best nights sleep we have ever had. Will happily return again and again. Hilo is not a...

Spent two nights here, wish it were none. Premises are not what website depicts - rundown, pool had algae and furnishings mismatched. Towels in bathroom old and musty. Breakfast not served until 8:00 a.m., would be nice to have coffee available before 7:30 am for early risers. Thank goodness we had plenty to do during the day so that we...
