Worst Double Tree ever!!!!For all Hilton Diamond members, be aware, this hotel doesn't live up to any of Hiltons standards. This is the first time I've ever given anything other then a positive review of any Hilton property I've stayed at but this place is...More
We only booked this hotel because the hotel we regularly stay at was full, but, we were very glad that we found the Grand Naniloa. The rooms were clean and quiet, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the location was perfect for ziplining at...More

This grand old Hilo hotel was in serious disrepair. The renovation of the hotel proper is complete and they have done a fine job. There are still some services that haven’t been implemented to get it up to Doubletree standards but don’t let that keep...More
The hotel is located right on the water next to the gardens and a Coconut Island. Checking in I attempted to upgrade by letting them know we were celebrating my birthday but received an apology as the hotel was sold out, but did receive cookies...More
We were in town for a friend's wedding nearby. We chose this place because it seemed like the best option in Hilo. It was an OK experience, but I would not rate it with even the average DoubleTree locations that I've experienced elsewhere.

I believe they did have one in September 2017 when I went, and I don't remember the cost, but I do know that the reviews I've read about the buffet were very poor. They are undergoing construction and it seems the food is either made off site or just in a bad condition. After seeing it with my own eyes, I passed on trying it out. There is a 24-hr diner close by, Ken's House of Pancakes, with massive portions for decent prices. It's a half mile away. I highly recommend that option.

You will receive a coupon for a free continental breakfast, but you can upgrade for a full buffet for $10, which includes an omelet bar. There are cold cereals, rolls and fruit for continental. Breakfast is pretty reasonably priced. In addition to the buffet you can choose to order from the menu, and most prices are less than $20--good for Hawaii.

I believe you get all the usual Diamond Level benefits, best to call them. Hotel is in a great location and always has something going on. Great restaurants down-town which is only about a 5 minute drive ranging from the Cafe Pesto which is a bit expensive but great selection, Kens Pancake House - has everything, to the many kiosks around the marketplace, Recommend a rental car; best way to see everything. Roads are nice, and you can drive around the entire Island in a day. My recommendation for Volcano visits is to go to the Kiluea Visitors Center late in the day so you can see the crater glowing at night. Visit some of the other sites before you go in the park like Thurston Lava Tube etc. You can also walk all the way down to the Lava Fields that is pretty awesome. Only way you can see the full crater is from the air. Other places - Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park near the Kona Side is a Must See (great swimming next to the park). Crystal clear with sea turtles! If you like flowers - Hilo Orchid Farm.
