We loved this retro restaurant with retro prices. All meals start with shared rice, tofu, bamboo shoots, and potatoe salad. The delicious Opakapaka fish was saluted in butter. My husband had the pork chop everyone had recommended! This hotel is on Highway 11 South of Kona. Well worth stopping for a meal(open 5:00-7:30 for dinner).

This hotel is very old, over 90 years. If you like living history, this is it. Guests sign a huge register book after ringing a bell to bring out a receptionist . There is a restaurant on site with very narrow, old fashioned dining hours. Breakfast is over at 9 am , dinner closes down at 7 pm. There are...

Wonderfull classic century old hotel. Brought back memories from traveling in the 1950/60s. Nothing fancy however the hospitality and service were impecable. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to get away from the rat race for a while.

Stopped for lunch and tried the pork chops on the recommendation of friends. The dining room is very quaint and we were surprised by the table settings. Each seat had a plate with an upended rice bowl on it. Reminded us of our childhood. We all ordered pork chops and were surprised by three side dishes -mac salad, green beans...

We stayed 2 nights in a 3rd floor room, it was not busy and we asked for a quiet room so no immediate neighbors. We asked for exta pillows and towels and maid supplied immediately. Bring any & all amenities you would want. Roosters crow in the morn but the disruptive frog croaking was minimal. The hotel is charming and...

There aren't a lot of hotel options south of Kailua kona. Stayed in a $50 room with shared bathroom. You get what you pay for. The linens had cigarette burns and the blanket had holes. The room was very clean, spotless. TripAdvisor reviews led me to believe the shared bathroom wing was like a dorm - maybe a little noisy...

I always look forward to my quick getaways to The Big Island and relaxing at the Manago Hotel. The hotel is located in Captain Cook, about 30 minutes from the Kona Airport. The hotel recently made 100 years and also holds the distinction of having the oldest restaurant in continuous operation (The Manago Hotel restaurant) which is known for their...

So we ended up booking an extra night with this hotel because it's so hip. Not for the fancy I mean it turns 100 years old this next year, there's no TV's in room, and beds are what you'd expect for $50 a night. But now the whole place and experience taken altogether was otherworldly! Talk about a trip back...

I visited Manago Restaurant at the recommendation of my cousin Kaleo. He told me about the pork chops, so when I visited there on October 21st, of course I had the chops. There were three of my business partners with me and we all ordered the chops. The meal was served family style, a giant bowl of rice, a plate...
