While traveling on business, I found myself in Guernsey, WY. Looking for a place to stay, I stumbled across the Bunkhouse Motel and I am so glad I did. A very charming motel with a cowboy motif that won me over in a New York minutes. The kind man welcomed me and I got me checked in right away. He informed me that the was a complimentary breakfast in the morning, which rocked. He also gave me a couple of of breakfast burritos in case I got hungry later. You can't put a price on that. The rooms were warm and welcoming. A very quiet neighborhood that had me sleeping like a baby. I'm not a hundred percent sure when I'll find myself back in Guernsey, WY., but I absolutely know where I'll be staying when I do.
Neat little hotel with great people. The manager who checked us in gave us a tip to call directly for a better rate. We booked through Hotels.com and should have called directly for a better rate. Is this place dated...yes...is it perfect...no. That said it was exactly where we needed to be to see the wagon trail ruts from the old days, and to visit Fort Laramie just a short drive away. It was worth the journey and the stay for just those reasons. This place was a good value, and had a FANTASTIC breakfast in the morning!! Had good conversations with folks staying there and with the folks working there.
What a great little motel in a sleepy little town on the high plains. Easy friendly check in. Small but clean room with a great bed. Super AC on a very hot day. Down home biscuits an gravy for breakfast or a burrito if you desire. They also had huge cinnamon rolls. Overall great stay and just 12 miles from Ft. Laramie.
Very comfortable bed and amenities were great. But the best thing about the hotel is the staff. They are amazing. Full of ideas of things to see to supplement your travel itinerary, but tailored to our likes and objectives. If you are traveling to the historic sites around here, you need to stay at this hotel.
we stayed in 116 and only complaint was the short toilet but when i talked to the manager, it's up for replacement. We liked everything else. bed was comfy, wifi was good; no complaints! park at your door. quiet time is 10pm-6am ! morning breakfast is excellent!
The staff was super friendly and helpful. Rooms are older but clean. The only problem 8 had was the air conditioner didn’t cool. It was 97 that day, so it was uncomfortable at night. They serve a very nice breakfast in the morning.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was unbelievably friendly and fun to talk to. The rooms are very nice and authentic. The breakfast was really good. We will definitely stay here again if we come through this way.
Called to make reservations....Very accommodating....we wern't quite sure what we needed. But they were making sure we had what we needed. Rhonda was very easy to communicate as we made our plans. She checked us in. All staff was great! Clean! Friendly! Will stay again.
Me and my wife stayed at the bunkhouse mid June, We just stayed the one night , found the hotel very comfortable and very clean. Little outdated on the exterior but a very affordable and comfortable place to stay .my wife found a deer walking across the street to munch on the grapevines in the back of the hotel I would definitely stay here again if I had more time. Not much in the town for eating we found Ben's bar-and-grill, which was very good but the worst service I have ever had in my entire life, first time In my life to not leave a tip.
The Bunkhouse Motel is not your everyday, cookie cutter lodging where every room is copied from some designers idea of hotel fashion. Instead, its a step back to a slower, neighborly pace where the clerk greets you by name and is actually glad to see you. During my 5 day stay, the temp dropped overnight and I woke up to a snow covered landscape. I was thankful for my warm and comfortable room. Since I was there out of the main tourist season, the proprietor gave me a reduced room rate, which included a full breakfast, fresh, hot coffee, breakfast burritos, fruit, yogurt, juice in a delightful eating area, decorated with western memorabilia and the owners special collections. I'm heading back that way later this year and only hope I can get a room once again. (PS: the cast iron skillet cooked cinnamon yeast rolls are as good as they sound...) …
