My husband and I visited the beautiful state of Wyoming for the first time. We stayed at the authentic and rustic Bill Cody Ranch. Our cabin was so nice, roomy, and comfortable The owners, ( some family) and staff were extremely friendly, helpful , and accommodating. The ranch offers many choices....horseback rides, nightly roping and s’mores by the outdoor fireplace and the restaurant offers delicious meals. The scenery was simply gorgeous. The ranch is also conveniently located about 30 miles from Yellowstone’s east entrance and about 30 miles from the town of Cody.

We had a wonderful stay at Bill Cody Ranch in cabin 16 a few weeks ago. Let me say I am a picky traveler and a travel agent, so I am often hard to please. We had such a wonderful visit at Bill Cody Ranch! It is simply charming and so very comfortable. I think one of our favorite things was the adorable bar in the lodge building with the puzzle ready to go and the checkers.. then add on the wonderful dining and you have a true home run! Dining there was by far the best steaks we had on our 3 weeks of travel. The staff is delightful with the town of Cody an easy 25 minutes one way out the drive and Yellowstone 30 miles left out of the drive. Such accommodating hosts with a great laid back vibe! Of course the trail rides are a great hit too, but I think the best thing about it is the Jelks family and staff themselves with such gracious attention to their guests. We will be back! PS there is no cell service there at all, you simply drive to the end of the drive and you can go to the lodge for wifi. This picky traveler LOVED it!

Loved this quiet getaway. Quiet, clean, comfortable and friendly. Expect to be engaged with communication by guests, staff, owners and cow dogs. Friendly and genuine western hospitality. Stayed in a cabin with large room and King size bed. Large closet, small refrigerator, full size bath, 3 windows that opened, no A/C but large floor fan. At night enjoyed the Milky Way and more stars than I recall seeing. Log cabin Ranch House has common room with large stone fireplace, bison head mount over fireplace, grand piano, flat screen TV playing old TV show reruns like “Wagon Train” and other western memorabilia. Cozy Western bar adjacent to common room. Restaurant dining in indoor dining room or outside on deck. Restaurant open for breakfast and supper. Good food with huge portions. After supper campfire s’mores. If asked they’ll even make you a picnic sack lunch to take away. We didn’t ride horses, but spent time away sight-seeing. Loved our stay. Want to return.

Booked through booking.com advertised with bar, restaurant, games room, lounge, TV, WiFi
On arrival we were told they were closed! How so, they should not have accepted our booking or taken our money. We had a cabin, which was average, no tv no WiFi, no food. We tried to use the lounge the only area with tv & WiFi but were told the lounge was closed as the owner was tired, use the porch. However WiFi did not work in the porch.
Nearest town, restaurant etc was 27 miles away. He offered a fish/rice supper in a box that evening for the inconvenience. There was no mention of charging us but on checkout he asked for $45 we said we thought it was complimentary for the fact that all the facilities were closed over our 3 night stay, so offered $30 which he declined and walked away. I had raised my voice as our entire stay was a disaster and then this. I kept my language clean and to the point at all times not using any foul language, but I was fuming.
As the facilities were closed we went back to Cody the next day to buy food supplies, we also had to buy plates & cutlery as Renee, owner, told us upon request that we were not allowed to eat in the room. What did they expect us to do, we were trapped 27 miles from anywhere and their restaurant was closed. There were two other guests on the ranch who had received an email, after booking so a bit late tbh, advising all facilities were closed so bought along their own food. We did not receive the email. The only email we had from Cody Ranch was telling us they looked forward to our visit and please join us for dinner in our restaurant!!??
It was the start of a new season for the new owners, we understand John worked for the previous owner but him & his parents took over last year, therefore reviews you see relate to the previous owner. They were most unwelcoming & rude, repeatedly telling us they were closed.
Dread to think what the mood will be like by the end of the season. Disgusting the way we were treated, charging us full price, in actual fact more than advertised the following week when they were ‘open’. when we did not receive the experience we were expecting. Even the horse ride was disappointing, they let us go out in blizzard weather with no option offered to cancel or re-schedule when we questioned it. Unsafe for all concerned including the horses. We were told again that as they were not yet open we were the only riders booked in, so this could have easily changed.
There are plenty of other ranches in Cody, so don’t choose this one! We were on a road trip, we covered 6,500 miles, 16 states & 28 accommodations over 8 weeks, this was by far the worst & the only place we encountered unfriendly, rude hosts & bad service.
A massive disappointment and not as advertised.

Hi Ginette and Lee, At the time of arrival (early May), our dinner restaurant was the only thing still closed. We did in fact attempt to reach all guest arriving before the 15th, to inform them the restaurant wouldn't be open to capacity until the 15th. If you booked through a third party, as you did, we could only call, and there was no voicemail set up to leave. I'm not sure if it was an intentional lie, or a confusion on your part, but I, John, have been a part of management for seven years now. Complete ownership for four years now. The only recent "bad" reviews on this platform are BOTH from you guys. Reviewing a place, should be kept to one per guest, per visit, per platform. You mentioned at check-in that you were excited to try "The Angler" that you saw we offered on our web menu, listed right next to the price. When I informed you that our restaurant wouldn't be open until the 15th for dinner, I noticed the dissatisfied look. I then called other restaurants within a ten-minute drive, to try to find somewhere open on a Tuesday, as their restaurants weren't open for summer hours yet either. Without luck, I caught you guys as you were coming in to pick up some disposables for your room. I apologized for the inconvenience and offered a free breakfast in our restaurant the next morning. I then offered to cook you "The Angler" that you asked about previously, so you wouldn't have to drive all the way back to Cody that evening. You agreed to "The Angler" meal and the restaurant fixed them in to-go boxes. You were told you were welcome to eat in our dining room or bring them back to your room. When you guys came in the next morning for breakfast, I waited on your table, and took care of your breakfast charges as I promised. During your time eating breakfast, you raved about the trout and even the homemade rice pilaf, offering nothing but compliments. For the four-hour ride with lunch, we had a family of five that chose to reschedule, and a group of two that opted for a refund. Both of these groups decided they didn't want to ride in the inclement weather. Unless the trails or conditions become unsafe, the decision to cancel or reschedule a ride, is entirely up to the guest. There was no "change" in the weather, as it was already a 100% chance of snow for that day, and it was even snowing (not sticking) as you went to the corrals, got on your horse, and started riding. You both looked very unprepared for the ride, so I offered my personal rain/snow gear and gloves. Upon checkout, you were told all you owe is for the two trout dinners that were charged to your room. You had to have seen the price, as you mentioned you saw our web menu. You then offered $20, and I declined as it was not even 50% of the bill. I also informed you that after breakfast service was over, I would charge the room balance to the card on file. Then, you raised your voice, used vulgar language, and refused to pay for the meal. After this, I was forced to ask you to leave the property, as there were children present, and it was creating a disturbance for the guests in the dining room. After breakfast, the card on your file had been blocked, and the charge declined. I hope at least the free meals you had here made your time worthwhile.

I chose this ranch at random as I wanted something close to Yellowstone. What a treat! Abby greeted us upon arrival and was a perfect hostess the entire time we were there. She not only greeted us, she ran the bar and checked on us during our meals. Great ambassador for Bill Cody Ranch. Our cabin was perfect with a wonderful shower, dining area, 2 queen beds, 2 sinks, and a mini-fridge. The porch had two chairs with a table in-between to set our drinks. Super clean! The horses were up the hill behind us and although we didn't go horseback riding, this activity was certainly convenient. Breakfast was not free but it was reasonably priced and totally delicious. Lunch is not served, however, the evening meal is 6-8 p.m. We each had steak, salad, and baked potato but fish and chicken were also on the menu. Perfectly done and Chandler was a great server both morning and evening. The ambience in the lodge, reception, and dining room are perfect for a ranch and we certainly enjoyed the deck for drinking our beverages. This is definitely a place I can rave about. You won't be disappointed.

We checked in, reminding the young gent at check in that we have a service dog. We went to the room (different from the Booking.com description but still acceptable). We showered and got ready for dinner, looking forward to a nice meal at the lodge. Once we entered the lodge, I stayed in the main entrance with my service dog to not be in the way while my husband tried to flag someone down to figure out how to secure a table. This is standard procedure for us. We waited 10 minutes without being acknowledged by anyone. Finally my husband speaks to someone at the front desk. He comes back to tell me nobody has a clue or cares. He goes back again to ask if we can have drinks while waiting. At that point I decide to join the discussion at the front desk. I am immediately harassed by a women who turned out to be the owner. She raises her voice and interrupts me while yelling at me that she has rights and doesn't allow pets because they do their business on her carpet, throw up, pee, etc. I continue to try and explain that my dog is not a pet but a service dog (he is wearing a red service dog vest!) and that there are laws in place she has to comply with. She continues yelling that she has rights. She loudly claims that I am sick, and that I have to provide proof and papers allowing me to have this dog and I am required to show them to her. I continue to calmly advise her that this is not true and that she should do a quick google search to inform herself. I even volunteer the reason why I have a service dog and what his job is, all things that are beyond what a business owner is allowed to ask for. The whole dining room is witnessing this discussion. Her husband, who appeared like a nice gentleman, was trying to calm her down with no success. She insults me multiple times while kicking us out of the property. Upon our departure 5 minutes later she returns to apologize since she finally researched ADA laws and begs us to stay. Too little too late...No Thanks!

There were four of us on our trip. We rented a Deluxe Ponderosa Cabin (#16). It was incredible. The rooms are nice, clean, and have a great view of the creek right in front. It was incredible to fall asleep to the sound of the creek and the fresh mountain air coming into the windows. FYI, there is no air conditioning, so if it is summertime, you may be a bit warm but we went in Sept and it was perfect!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They had great tips for us and the bar and restaurant were wonderful. We ordered steaks, burgers, salads, and more, there was no disappointment. The smores by the fire and the live music on Saturday night were a great source of entertainment.

With no TV or cell reception, we were able to focus on each other and talk about all the things we saw during the day and evening. We went on two horseback riding trips, one all day and another was a short 2-hour trip that was cut down to 1 hour due to a member having a fear of heights. The staff was very accommodating and they helped our members get through it. The all-day trip was with Allen as our wrangler and he was helpful, watchful and we all had a lot of fun. Brownie and Mr. Gray were excellent horses, I would love to come back and stay again!

We decided to tour Yellowstone Park in mid-June and were looking for a place to stay outside Cody, Wyoming. We booked a room for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised at the roomy and recently updated king we settled into. We had an excellent dinner (steak cooked the way I ordered it, yummm), had a super breakfast the next morning and instead of heading straight to Yellowstone Park, we decided to take a 2 hour horseback ride at the ranch. The scenery was spectacular and the entire staff was polite, professional and fun. We were late returning from the Park later that evening, but they made sure we had bbq food when we finally got there. We hope to stay there again very soon! Loved it:)

After a few busy days of travel in Yellowstone, we stayed two nights at the ranch. We had a two room Ponderosa cabin which worked out well fo Roy husband, two grandsons, and myself. It is a relaxed, comfortable environment, the food was very old, our half day trail ride was beautiful, and everyone was very hospitable. I would definitely return.

We stayed in the Buckaroo King room for three nights, and it was very clean and comfortable. We were welcomed when we arrived and the staff was pleasant. They are never too busy to stop what they're doing and chat. The general feel of the ranch is very laid back, yet professional. They take hospitality seriously! The food was really good, and the cook made an appearance and asked how our meals were. (We ate several while there) We went on a 4-hour trail ride, and the wrangler was very patient and personable. I was quite apprehensive when I met my towering, strong horse but by the end of the day, we were buddies. Their horses know the trails and I felt safe. One of the best parts of this place? No internet or TV in the rooms. Seriously, it's healthy and refreshing to unplug for a few days! (They do have WiFi in the main lodge if necessary) We loved this ranch and would come back in a heartbeat next time we need a getaway.
