We have been on a road trip across America from East to West. Bill Cody Ranch was supposed to be a highlight of our trip, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing and unpleasant parts. We have stayed in dozens of places in different states & no one has been as unfriendly & rude as the owners of Bill Cody ranch. These people as simply not suited to the hospitality industry, and seemed to think they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there. We felt unwelcome & an inconvenience to them. We had driven all day, we were looking forward to a hot meal. On arrival (11th May) we were told the restaurant & bar would not be open during our stay. The ranch is 27 miles from the nearest town. We had no food! They failed to inform us of this prior to arrival. The only message we received was generic, inviting us to join them for dinner 6pm-8pm. We then thought we will have to drive back to the town to buy food, so we asked Renee for plates & cutlery. Her response was ‘we do not supply plates etc as we do not allow guests to eat/ cook in the room’ on top of which she repeatedly told us ‘we are not open until 15th May’ she reluctantly gave us styrofoam boxes & plastic cutlery, why?? Later John offered us dinner, which he provided in a takeout box. We assumed this was complimentary to compensate for the inconvenience as he didn’t say otherwise, however, 3 days later on checking out he tried to charge us full restaurant price for the meal, not even a concession! We offered to pay $30 which he declined, stating ‘I’ll charge your card whether you authorise or not’ unprofessional manner, this would be considered theft. John told us on arrival that we could use the communal lounge during the evening until 9pm where there were WiFi & tv (as not in the room) we went down to the lounge at 7pm only to find it locked. Owner Mark, came to the door to say the lounge shut at 5pm as he’d had a long day. We asked if it would be open on the other evenings of our stay, he reminded us ‘we are not open until 15th, so no’ It gets worse, the next day we turned up for a 4 hour horse trail, with lunch. Before we left, the weather had taken a turn for the worse, it had started to snow. We were the only 2 guests riding. Instead of suggesting we reschedule the ride for the next day when the forecast was better, John let us carry on up the mountain. Within less than an hour we found ourselves in blizzard conditions, low visibility & freezing cold. Even the horse refused to walk! Our wrangler/guide made the right call to turn back, we all agreed it would be best as it was becoming dangerous, the horses were slipping. We did 1.5hr trail the next day to make up for it. John later commented that he let us do this as a favour? Surely as we had paid we were entitled to finish the ride? We paid $850 for our 3 day ranch experience, turned out to be the worst part of our road trip. We were their 2nd guests on day two of the season. If they aren’t in the spirit at the start, how bad will they be treating guests by the end of the season. They need to update their guest information to save some disappointment, how difficult would it be to note on the website that facilities are shut until 15th May?! Furthermore, if as they insisted, they are not open until 15th May why accept our booking for 11th? Obviously happy to take our money. Surprisingly, we will not be returning or recommending.

We took a 10 day Yellowstone trip and stayed here mid trip. The staff was excellent. The cabin was just what needed, it was peaceful with a spring running at night and cutoff from the outside world as far as internet and phones. A much needed break and connection with nature. The horse ride was such a great experience and I have a fear of heights so they worked something out to take me on a simple trail. The little resteraunt on site was absolutely the best food of our entire trip! If I ever make it back to Wyoming this place is the only place I dream of revisiting. It was so beautiful there!

3 friends and I took a girls trip to Cody and this was by far the star of our week long trip! The staff was incredibly friendly, prices were great, horses were well loved, and I cannot wait to come back at the next possible chance. We did the 4 hour ride, and happened to be the first ride of the season. The guides were knowledgeable and fun to ride with, as all of us were beginners. Lots of photo opportunities and laughter along the way! The horses themselves were great and even almost a year later my friends and I laugh about the memories and jokes that we shared on the trail that day. Long story short, this is an incredible business that has a beautiful family and close-knit atmosphere that is translated beautifully to guests from near and far.

My wife and I had a great experience with all the folks there at the ranch. We even had a staff member take out a map and hand highlight the perfect route to take in Yellowstone so that my (scared of heights) wife could have a fear free day in the park. The cabins are clean and the people are friendly. We will be bringing our entire family back this summer. Can’t wait!

I cannot even express how much we loved staying here. The proximity to the park is fantastic, but you it would be a great stay regardless. The owners and staff are so friendly and helpful. When we arrived, there was a mixup with our room, which was remedied very quickly. The staff was amazing with our kids, who loved every minute of this stay and didn't want to leave. You have to do a horseback ride while you're here. Also, the food exceeded all of our expectations. We looked forward to every meal. They're also really reasonably priced. I just cannot say enough good things. Thank you for a great stay!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in Sept 2021. We couldn't have been happier with our stay or the service! You can't beat the hospitality here. The owners and staff are so helpful, they listen, and pay attention. Everyone was eager and happy to help. Too often I feel like a bother as a customer and that NEVER happened here. We stayed in the Little Bear cabin. It was clean and comfortable. We ate dinner on site each night we stayed, we had breakfast one morning, and we had lunch made to bring into Yellowstone. The food was fantastic! Hats off to the chef! We tried the chicken alfredo, buffalo burger, a steak, and the elk burger (special). For people coming from cities, you may notice service isn't as quick. However, I think this was part of the appeal. You could sit back and really enjoy. No one was rushing us out to turnover the table. I suggest sitting on the deck for dinner and enjoying the view. The drinks were great. I highly suggest the huckleberry margarita. We also enjoyed the nightly fire and s'mores. We did the 4 hour horseback ride with lunch. We are both beginners. We enjoyed ourselves and lunch. Our wrangler Cheyenne did a great job. I do think the 4 hr ride was too much for us as beginners. The location of the ranch is not far from the East entrance of Yellowstone. Great place to stay while also exploring Yellowstone. We can't recommend the Bill Cody Ranch enough.

There were four of us on our trip. We rented a Deluxe Ponderosa Cabin (#16). It was incredible. The rooms are nice, clean, and have a great view of the creek right in front. It was incredible to fall asleep to the sound of the creek and the fresh mountain air coming into the windows. FYI, there is no air conditioning, so if it is summertime, you may be a bit warm but we went in Sept and it was perfect! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They had great tips for us and the bar and restaurant were wonderful. We ordered steaks, burgers, salads, and more, there was no disappointment. The smores by the fire and the live music on Saturday night were a great source of entertainment. With no TV or cell reception, we were able to focus on each other and talk about all the things we saw during the day and evening. We went on two horseback riding trips, one all day and another was a short 2-hour trip that was cut down to 1 hour due to a member having a fear of heights. The staff was very accommodating and they helped our members get through it. The all-day trip was with Allen as our wrangler and he was helpful, watchful and we all had a lot of fun. Brownie and Mr. Gray were excellent horses, I would love to come back and stay again!

Thought this would be a great experience at a Dude Ranch.....Food Quality for steaks was terrible, >50% fat & grissle for a $28 ribeye! Management reply to Quality...."all good steaks have lots of fat". Server was very good. Dessert was a frozen 1" wide slice of cheesecake with 3 mini marshmallows and chocolate sauce for$11.00..... Nightly entertainment advertised... nothing. Nightly barn fire and snacks...reality....small smoldering fire, pkg of marshmallows and some graham crackers. WOW. Management needs lots of customer service training...need a towel, soap or anything else...bring to front desk and they'll deliver it when they can? It's right there hand it to me...No we have "procedures"! This is only a sample of the terrible experience....Look elsewhere..... This property uses the Bill Cody name and had no relevance to the Park, the city or anything else.

We made reservations also a year of ahead of time only because we wanted planes and lodging fixed for 11 days in Yellowstone/Teton/Cody. We drove in and the first comment from our group on a scale of 1 -10 this is a 25! Beautiful old place with real character tucked up in a green valley. Our room was good. It is not that Ritz, it is ranch and the rooms match of the photos. Had to share one shower between two couples but when you are all friends this is not a problem. The beds slept well with no complaints of too hard or too soft. The first night we went to the bar where we served by Mark the owner. Mark and his son Mike, and the cook Clare sat and talked to us for a long time. The second night was more of the same which made our stay feel like we were visiting old friends. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Maybe slow but that our experience all week was all restaurants were short handed. We also did a 2-hour ride on our last morning. They picked the right horses of everyone's skill and we had a nice ride even if we did not see any interesting wildlife. All in all we would go back to visit our new-found friends the Bill Cody Ranch.

We checked in, reminding the young gent at check in that we have a service dog. We went to the room (different from the Booking.com description but still acceptable). We showered and got ready for dinner, looking forward to a nice meal at the lodge. Once we entered the lodge, I stayed in the main entrance with my service dog to not be in the way while my husband tried to flag someone down to figure out how to secure a table. This is standard procedure for us. We waited 10 minutes without being acknowledged by anyone. Finally my husband speaks to someone at the front desk. He comes back to tell me nobody has a clue or cares. He goes back again to ask if we can have drinks while waiting. At that point I decide to join the discussion at the front desk. I am immediately harassed by a women who turned out to be the owner. She raises her voice and interrupts me while yelling at me that she has rights and doesn't allow pets because they do their business on her carpet, throw up, pee, etc. I continue to try and explain that my dog is not a pet but a service dog (he is wearing a red service dog vest!) and that there are laws in place she has to comply with. She continues yelling that she has rights. She loudly claims that I am sick, and that I have to provide proof and papers allowing me to have this dog and I am required to show them to her. I continue to calmly advise her that this is not true and that she should do a quick google search to inform herself. I even volunteer the reason why I have a service dog and what his job is, all things that are beyond what a business owner is allowed to ask for. The whole dining room is witnessing this discussion. Her husband, who appeared like a nice gentleman, was trying to calm her down with no success. She insults me multiple times while kicking us out of the property. Upon our departure 5 minutes later she returns to apologize since she finally researched ADA laws and begs us to stay. Too little too late...No Thanks!
