We had an all day meeting with a dinner and cocktail hour the night before. The staff in the hotel and restaurant/bar were friendly and very attentive. The room was very comfortable. I appreciated that you needed a key to access the floors from the elevator, felt very secure! The QR coded breakfasts tasted good and were on time. The location was good for many interests. I stayed two nights and would return any time.

This is my second stay here and my sister and I stayed here on a Saturday night for one night on the coldest day of the year, waking up with -18 degrees with a -38 windchill. Good news is our heater in our room worked well! Check in lady was nice and the process was quick. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was very nice, clean, and comfortable for sleeping.

We visited the restaurant Benvenutos also for the second time and were once again very happy a) that we didn't have to go back outside for a dinner option and b) we had great food and service. I had the spaghetti dinner which was great and served with a salad and bread with dipping oil. Since we were full, we got our dessert of tiramisu to go to our room for later. They packed the desserts in a nice container and put in a bag with sealed utensils which was nice. The tiramisu was great. We both had the small piece but it was really big.

Due to Covid19, breakfast was a grab and go bag that we had to have someone get for us. They also served coffee but I don't drink coffee so it was disappointing to not have the choice of juice or water as well. The breakfast was a yogurt, a blueberry muffin, and 2 peeled hard boiled eggs. I don't like eggs so I just had the yogurt and muffin which were ok. Would have been nice to have a few options rather than get what you are handed.

All in all, a good stay and can't wait to come back!

Stayed there for coupe days over the NYE. Brought my small schnauzer mix with me. We had two rooms for that trip, in one was my quadriplegic friend and I was in the other one. I left my dog one morning with her and I went skiing for couple hours. My dog was crying for and hour, that’s how unhappy he was about me leaving him with her but she did what she could to calm him down. Later that day she received note under her door that dog was loud and there was no one in the room with him. The note also stated that if it happens again they will ask her to leave. I was upset, because it is supposed to be dog friendly place and the dog had a supervision and he was loud for and hour in the middle of the day! So the rest of the stay I stayed behind with my dog while everyone went skiing. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that next morning my friend received a phone call from front desk that her dog is loud again!!! Well the dog was with me in my room on different floor, opposite end of the hotel and it was so early that he was still asleep. So I don’t know what is the problem at that hotel and who’s dog was upset that morning but it just show how the staff right away jumped into conclusions that it must be the same dog from the same room that received complaint the day before. So if you have dog that likes to bark when you leave, or barks every time elevator opens or someone walks by your room, think twice before booking stay at Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau. I know I won’t go back there.

After receiving an email confirmation which listed all their Covid safety precautions, we saw several unmasked staff in the lobby walking around guests (one was coughing) and when we inquired about it, I was simply told “ we forget sometimes”. After checking into our room, I found a pill on the floor which turned out to be a street narcotic and the mini fridge had someone’s else leftovers and old food inside. They never answered the front desk phone so after trying for over 15 minutes we had to go back to the lobby and wait in line to receive a different room with no apologies. When I asked for a checkout extension of 1/2 hr as I had a Zoom meeting, I was told it would be s as n extra $50. Our friends found dirty underclothes under their bed in their suite. I would not recommend this “boutique hotel” under any circumstances. Unsafe, not cleaned properly, unfriendly and unhelpful staff and management and overall poor service.

Hello, I wanted to reach out and say thank you for letting us know about your experience at Jefferson Street Inn. I have passed your concerns onto our Housekeeping staff and have discussed the newly reinstated COVID mandates with staff as well and reminded them that the mandates have been reinstated and to be cognitive of this fact. I am disheartened to see that you missed our apology and did not notice the discount we did apply to your stay. While we strive to be as accommodating as possible for our guests at times we are simply not able to offer a late checkout due to new guests arriving and time needed to properly prepare their rooms, the late checkout fee allows us to keep staff over longer than scheduled in order to make sure the room is properly prepared with our stringent COVID cleaning procedures so that all our guests can feel safe and secure. Looking forward to seeing you soon and thanks again! JSI

I chose this hotel at the last minute Based on the location and the description on the hotels website. While the location is fantastic and the hotel is nice, just be aware there are a few things that are not included in your room that are stated on the website or in the pictures that they show on the website. The first one is there are no Aveda products. The shampoo and conditioner are nice but if you’re expecting Aveda, you’ll be disappointed. Also, no robes even though it’s shown in the picture for the regular king rooms. I did ask about this after I checked in and the front desk clerk asked his manager who said no, they’re only in the suites. I was told by both the evening and the fat clerks that there are quite a few things that need to be updated on the website.

The hotel is nice enough and stated that they’re a boutique hotel. Not sure I would agree with that as I think the hotel needs an update. Also, if it was a boutique hotel, they would accommodate someone asking about robes. Not a big deal to me but just sharing.

I understand it’s been a crappy year bc of Covid and trying to find employees is very difficult. My toilet was dirty and the room, quite frankly, is dated.

Breakfast is in a bag and contains yogurt, banana, granola bar and 2 hard boiled eggs. No drinks provided other than coffee and tea in the lobby.

Positives:
Staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable.

Negatives:
They literally limited the turn radius of the shower water handle to restrict the hot water usage. The water was only slightly warmer than room tempt. With the door closed and no fan, the bathroom did not steam up (mirror did not fog). The sink water was very hot so the issues wasn't that the guest depleted the hot water.

The other big negative was that the room was dirty. The shower still had hair in it. The sink had ALOT of razor shavings in it (where a previous guest tapped the razor on the side to clean it) and the coffee maker still had the used coffee pad in it.

The reason for this "may have" revealed itself when I returned to the room after my first work day away from the room. It had not been cleaned (nor replenished).

This hotel is not cheap so this was all very unexpected.

This is my 2nd time staying here because I enjoyed it so much 2 years ago when I was here. It is even better this time. Breakfast options (order online the day before) were exceptional, all-day coffee in the lobby was so appreciated, and the location of the hotel was perfect for us.

Bathroom floor needs grout cleaned immensely as does the entry floor grout. Dusting is needed as the lamps were covered in it. Toilet had black stains down it and I am fairly certain there was a bloody booger on the wall next to the shower. Shower head was loose and spraying all over. The wedding music was super loud the floor was shaking and we were in room 454. No outlets near the bed was disappointing. Email confirmation just days before arrival said restaurant was open and it wasn't. Also says spa onsite and Aveda products which was false. For my taste, the bed was rock hard but the pillows were good. Beds are hard to please everyone so that's not a deal breaker. I am not sure I would go back as breakfast was subpar and the room needs some serious TLC. We could hardly take a shower.

The check in person was so helpful telling us about a free concert in the square that we should go see. The room really a suite was wonderful and a shame that we could only stay one night. Thanks to reviewer nancyn373 we asked about the parking procedure and avoided a problem. Will stay again for sure!
