I travel a lot. I made a conscious choice to stay in IHG hotels in each city I visit. Out of the hundreds of hotels I have stayed in, this one actually grossed me out.
First impression of property. It’s near end of renovations. Looked pretty cool in lobby. Front desk doubled as reservations. She was booking rooms for people on phone while checking others in. Weird but understandable. Again, renovations are ongoing so I’m not expecting a super clean hotel. Nothing special from amenities perspective. Most properties have a little pantry where you can buy snacks and drinks. This one doesn’t.
When I entered the room, there wasn’t any lights. The switch by door did nothing. I pulled out my phone flashlight and made my way in. After I found lights. First thing I noticed it felt dirty. Then I saw the toilet. No effort to clean whatever the last guy delivered into the porcelain. I probably wouldn’t have noticed if it weren’t for the seat being up. Nastiest streak along the bottom of seat and around seat anchors.
I shrugged it off and headed out to dinner. When I got back I was getting ready to go to bed when I noticed hair all over the pillows. I have never seen that. I pulled sheets back and well, there was more hair. I looked around and floor looked dirty. Couch had a nice white stain that I don’t want to know what it is. Streaks of probably soda sprayed on wall. Smoke detector looked like it had been through hell.
I held a long debate with myself if I can handle staying here. Not for $115 a night. I ended up packing my stuff and headed down to front desk. I truly wanted out. I was going to risk sleeping in my vehicle or gambling a room was available somewhere else.
Front desk staff were nice about it. It wasn’t her fault, so I didn’t feel the need to get angry. She apologized and moved me to an upgraded suite. Against my better judgment, I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
I open door to new room. First impression....sewer smell. Or someone just dropped evil in bathroom. I thought “how am I this lucky?” The room had two rooms. A queen bed in one room and another room with a king bed and big tub. King bed had the same hair issue. Pillows and sheets. Queen bed did not. It is late. I’m not going to go find another hotel. So I’m stomaching it.
Overall maintenance looked poor in both rooms, which surprises me for newly renovated rooms. Overall cleanliness....I would be embarrassed if this was my house. I will refrain from posting photos of toilet and beds. You’ll have to take my word for it.
Needless to say, this won’t be a property I will return to for next business trip. Two chances with two rooms. Both shared same dirty appearance. They have a lot of work to do.
We had a suite which was lovely. A separate room where I could watch TV while my husband slept. A lovely fireplace and hot tub in the bedroom allowed us a wonderful nights sleep. We didn't use the pool - there were quite a few children there and we were happy to just enjoy the Jacuzzi in our room. Vending machines were very handy and had a surprisingly good selection of items. We stayed in and had pizza delivered and really had a wonderful weekend. Room was very clean. I have bad dust allergies and I was very comfortable. Usually, hotel a/c units are terribly dirty, but this one was very clean.
The hotel is very well located and ideal to attend AirVenture (for which prices are skyrocketing of course...). Rooms are spacious and confortable. Breakfast should be improved (not enough choices, especially on the hot meal side). Free drinks and bits to eat are available in the common room at the end of the afternoon. Service is friendly and welcoming.
You can’t go wrong usually with holiday inns. It was under construction which is fine we understand. My reservation was not in the system but I had my confirmation but didn’t get a suite like I reserved but that was ok. The remodel job was mostly nice some of it was sloppy. Tile was coming off in the bathroom etc. I remodel homes so I notice this stuff. Overall it was good and clean but I thought it was very pricey. Maybe there was an event in town that rose the price up.

Thank you so much for your understanding during this crazy time for us! I will look into the room you were in and address the issues with maintenance about the room being done sloppily. I do hope you will come back and visit us.
I did not give 5 because if construction. It was a little bit messy and paint smells, ut overall very nice. Excellent dependable breakfast as usual. Room was nice, good beds and pillows. Nice large TV. Stayed for 5 nights.
