Please stay at the Walker House! It is a beautiful, old building in the heart of Mineral Point. The rooms are lovely, no tv, no phone so enjoy. There is wi-fi. Bathrooms are shared but I've never had an issue with one not being available. Everything is very clean. Breakfast is delicious! Truly the best part is Kathy, the proprietor....

Dan and Kathy made our wedding reception (200 guests) the best I'd ever attended. Their attention to every detail instantly put me at ease and dramatically reduced my workload. -They willingly accommodated our guests' special food requests (vegetarian, vegan, Halal, gluten free, to name a few). -The Walker House was so beautiful that we hardly needed to decorate. -On the...

Kathy & Dan make the perfect hosts at the Walker House!! We stayed in a room with an adjacent bathroom and had a great time. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the breakfasts were very well prepared & not your standard fare and the lack of a TV allowed us to disconnect for a weekend. And Kathy & Dan's values/philosophies make...

The Walker House Catered my wedding, the most important day of my life. Kathy, the owner, made sure I got everything I wanted and she did her best and delivering it. The food was out of this world and so was the desert. Most, if not all of the food is local and the buns, bkaed goods, etc. is made...

If you're looking for a beautiful old inn in a beautiful old town, try the Walker House in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. You'll get a good bed in a pleasant room, lots of hot water, and a wonderful breakfast. Best of all there's no phony "charm"; this place is the genuine article--and has been for the last 180 years.

i visited with a group for a single meal, only. the salad was ok, the saffron bun tasty though weak on saffron, the dessert acceptable. when i first saw the pasty, i was disappointed with its small size, but this turned out to not be a problem. i am sure that it was the worst pasty i have ever encountered...

We spent the night at the Walker House on a road trip across the Midwest. Kathy made us feel right at home at the historic property. Our room was simple and clean and welcoming. The Walker House offers free wifi, homemade breakfast, and a lovely patio area for relaxing. It was everything we needed after a long day of travel...

The Walker House was a real find for us. i was looking for a place that served traditional English food (such as pasties served to the miners in earlier times) and was distressed to see that most restaurants in the area all seemed to have variations of the same modern "pub" menu. I happened upon the Walker House but then...

We scheduled a dinner for our group at the Walker House (you have to call ahead to set up a dinner - it's not just a reservation, they cook the meal for the folks who call). We were the only people who had asked for a dinner. The B&B was full, but folks were eating elsewhere that night. Dinner is...

I was fortunate to have a meeting at this wonderful hotel and restaurant. I plan to return through this area with my wife, and we will definitely make this a stop. The building is wonderfully maintained, mixing modern amenities with a historic property. The two "cave rooms" in the dining room remind me of places I have been in Europe....

“Make sure the hallway windows on the floor are shut at night because the court way conversation(s) sound like it's in your room, even with the door closed. -- There is no on-site manager at night to address problems, so be ready to address them on your own. -- Take a large towel with to block the light coming in from the hallway under your door and another one as well to block the street lights from the windows facing the front of the building (no blinds) so you can sleep in a dark room. A pair of ear plugs might be recommended for those who might find heavy door latches and doors with no sound buffers (along the closure) disturbing (to their sleep). -- There is an incense odor that permeates (from the washrooms) that you will take home on your clothing. -- Unless you can wake up on your own, take your own clock radio - ours did not go off when set. -- If you miss the scheduled tour (by an outside guide) then you are out of luck. -- Bring something to eat as you are out of luck for any meals except for the "Full Breakfast" which was approximately a cup of scrambled eggs and a few slices of small tomatoes. Orange juice and milk (in cartons sitting out - no ice) as well as regular packaged cereals. Hostess waited on a group of people that came in after us instead of serving us first; we were there for an hour beforehand. She also offered up pancakes to them and not to us. Not sure why. -- My husband asked to use the hotel's phone for a local call as our cell phone would not work in the area. The hostess listened in to his call and asked my husband to elaborate on it. (Our business). -- Be prepared to be interrogated as to who you are; the host that hadn't met us yet encountered us in the dining room and asked abruptly: "And WHO are you?" The hostess told him that we were "okay" to be there. There must be a more professional way... We also are a mixed couple, and weren't sure if this was something that we encountered and no one else.”
