My wife and I stayed for the weekend and I can say that this place is beautiful! A very good blend of history with nice modern touches. The hosts were very nice and knowledgeable about the history of the schoolhouse and its clear that they put their love into the place as well!

After the weddings and baby showers were all done we childhood friends decided we needed to make a yearly plan to get together. We found the best place to do that. The Wilson Schoolhouse. You get the entire place to yourselves. Sleeps eight, two bathrooms, a huge kitchen and very comfortable living room to catch up with lifelong friends. I...

This remarkable inn was comfortable and pleasant on so many levels. We felt welcomed from the owners from the very beginning. Everything needed was not only available to us but also done in such a way that it was first-rate. Cozy, open, accommodating. We will be returning.

My family chose the historic Wilson School House to gather from Maine, California and Arizona. We were attending a family wedding along the Mighty Mississippi and wanted to be together. The school house was the perfect place for our family reunion. We were close to La Crosse and the rest of the wedding party. The historic educational artifacts made for...

We stayed for just two nights but had a wonderful stay. Everything we could have needed was there - linens, toiletries, coffee and juice, and the decor was fun and antique and the furniture comfortable.

The Schoolhouse is very charming and quaint. It s peaceful and very clean. It has a convenient location for our birding excursions. It is so nice, we've been here three times and I'm sure we will be back again in the future.

My sister and I rented the schoolhouse for one night to attend a conference. The place was great. It was bright and cheery with lots of sunlight. It had everything you needed to cook meals and also provided info for dining out. They had lots of interesting information about the renovation and history of the schoolhouse. The hosts were wonderful...

As always, The Wilson Schoolhouse did not disappoint! A wonderful weekend with family and friends. Spacious, clean, and welcoming with all the emenities you could want. Dick and Lisbeth were accessible, yet allowed us our privacy. Will definitely return for a 4th visit.

We rented the schoolhouse for one night with our friends and their kids. We were able to sleep 4 adults and 6 kids amongst all of the bedding options. The main floor of the Inn was really cool and open. It was neat to see the historic elements of the school, including the chalkboard and built-in book cases. The space...

Beautifully restored schoolhouse with lots of history but modern amenities for a wonderful stay. Lots of light in the main room, with a great kitchen for cooking a meal or for those who enjoy watching and chatting with those who cook. The hosts are very attentive and had thought of many details for comfort, snacks and beauty. But very respectful...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The old schoolhouse desks are replaced by modern, comfortable furniture in the restored Wilson Schoolhouse. Where students once studied, you can now relax in comfort surrounded by Wisconsin hills, just a mile from the beautiful upper Mississippi River. The Wilson school was built in 1917 and functioned as a one-room school until 1965. It was recently restored and elegantly furnished to retain the "open" atmosphere of the original schoolhouse. It still maintains much of its original character and charm with the original slate blackboard and school desks. The schoolhouse is listed on the City of La Crosse, the State of Wisconsin, and National Register of Historic Buildings. It is located in a rural setting on 12 acres of woods, fields, and gardens only 8 minutes from historic downtown La Crosse. Rental includes the entire schoolhouse and will comfortably accommodate 2 to 8 adults during their stay in La Crosse, WI. ... more   less
