We stayed in the Mettie Rose at the back of the barn, and could not hear the highway which made for a restful sleep and quiet mornings. Lovely "country" kitchen with modern amenities, lots of sunshine, spacious rooms (even just to remove your shoes and jackets), beautiful views of hay fields and flower pots. Staying here made our visit to Door County memorable. Intriguing antique store on bottom level. Owner/manager prompt when texted regarding questions. Great place to stay!
totally loved our stay - each suite is different and offers great amenities. The bestthough is the Salsa :) Rooms are quiet and comfortable. Fridge a bit old and hence loud, mattresses could be renewed, but hey - it is the experiemce after all. Leif is super nice
I would give it 1 Star, but that would be mean! Stayed in the Garden Suite unit. Very large room, but that is the only nice I can think of. The front door weather strip was falling off and you could see the outside. When you walk in, there is a celling fan that has 3 lites and 2 were burned out. There was a Celling fan in the bedroom, but it sounded like a bearing was out and made soo much noise, there is no way you could sleep when it's running. It also had a Jacuzzi in the room, but it didn't work. There was no way to turn it on, so it must just be there for show. Internet didn't work for a day and a half. Texted them on that and was told I could come over to his office if I needed to check my emails. The table lamp by the bed also didn't work. Another bulb was out. We stayed there from Tuesday to Friday. Thursday night we ran out of the 1 roll of toilet paper provided. Texted them and they asked if we need a roll that night! ( Why would I send a text at 9:45 in the evening just to say there wasn't any toilet paper if I didn't need it. They did drop some off shortly after we said yes we need it, so someone must live close by. This place could be a goldmine if it was cared for properly, but with everything not working, I have to say I would not recommend this place, nor would I stay there again. Pay more money for a room and get a better place. YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR…
We absolutely loved our stay in the Mettie Rose room at the Cornerstone Inn. The apartment was large and offered a kitchen, jacuzzi, and porch. Although it was not modern or fancy in any way, the space was quaint, quiet, and extremely peaceful. The view off the back porch was beautiful, which you can enjoy while having a bubble bath. We stayed here for two nights after our wedding and are really pleased with our choice, especially for the very affordable price. We would return here in the future.
We have stayed in this repurposed barn twice now. Last time we stayed in the Molly Brown. It's a very beautiful suite that overlooks a quiet field and the sunrise every morning. This time we stayed in the silo, which has 2 bedrooms & 1 1/2 baths. The silo it's self has been repurposed into an indoor gazebo with a coffee staition, 2 loveseats. Where you can watch the sunrise and set each day. All the suites are equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, & dishwasher for your convenience. The only thing the rooms don't have is shampoo and conditioner. Otherwise, the place is perfect.
Our stay at Cornerstone Suites was relaxing and comfortable. We stayed 2 nights in the Suite Clover Suite. If I could suggest one thing is a TV upstairs or even a TV with a DVD player so you are able to watch something. The whirlpool tub was huge and nice. The kitchen was a nice touch. We didn't plan on cooking much but we did have a pizza night one night. This is away from all the hustle and bustle of the little towns. It is right off of 42 but you cannot hear any of the traffic which is really nice.
We had a great time here. Place is beautiful. From the moment we got there until the moment we left, we loved it. I have never seen lodging quite like this. I cannot wait to see the other 3 suites. We stayed in the Garden Suite PROS: Full kitchen, Fridge, Micro, stove, etc. Plates and pans and everything you could possibly need to make a great meal at home. Even a dishwasher and Coffee Pot. Quiet - only one time could I hear my neighbors and all I really heard was them maybe walking down stairs or their shower running. Private - My own enterance, my own corner of the huge farmhouse to come and go as I please. Amazing PRIVATE porch to sit on and enjoy coffee or whatever you do while overlooking a beautiful farm field. Clean - so so clean. Friendly - The lady in the Antique shop was really nice. She was the owners daughter in law. Comfortable - Bed was probably a Double? it was big enough for us and very comfortable. Unique - nothing quite like this in all my years of lodging. Cons: This really isnt a bad thing because it really added to the beauty of the place. It is just that my wife broke her leg the day before we came to visit so just something to keep in mind if you are sending elderly there - TONS of Stairs - at least in the Garden Suite. Stairs going up to the condo, stairs going up to the bedroom and TV room and bathroom and even more stairs going up to the Sitting area it made it a huge challenge. We are looking forward to staying again when she is healthy. The other thing which isnt really a con(and we are going to turn it into a positive) but made my wife and I a bit uncomfortable - we were gone all day Saturday....and someone came in and changed our Garbage and Towels. I understand that is a good thing, but some warning would have been nice. She left her open purse in the lodging, her pain medication, personal belongings, I had an envelope of cash on the counter top. THEY ALL WERE UNTOUCHED....SO THE POSITIVE IS THAT THESE PEOPLE CAN BE TRUSTED.......but in this day and age I would have appreciated a warning. Overall, WE LOVED THE STAY. We posted some pictures on facebook and already have had 2 couples say they are planning a visit this year or next. We will also be back. We are going to send my parents here as well. This is a great place and I cannot see anyone being disappointed in their decision.…
2 girlfriends and I wanted somewhere unique to stay for our trip to Door County. One of my friends found Cornerstone Suites and booked us for 2 nights in the Mettie Rose. It was wonderful! We loved the space, the location was so peaceful, and we loved that we were far enough away while still being close enough to places to visit. We did find 15 pennies hidden throughout the suite which was interesting and we never received information on why (it was fun hunting for them though). Loved that there were plates, pots, pans, and silverware for our use during our stay. Everything was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and would be interested in seeing what the other suites are like!!
My wife and I stayed 4 nights in the Mette Rose suite. It was very comfortable stay. All the amenities were covered. They only complaint I have is the private balcony is in need of repair. There were nails sticking up on the both the floor and the railing. I know they are going for a rustic look but safety should be a priority. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have control of the thermostat. A light out front by the highway sign would be nice it is hard to find at night. I would stay here again.
We came back to celebrate our 19th anniversary, and are so glad we did! I love the privacy of the Cornerstone, and the decor is so fun and creative! We had stayed at the other 3 suites but not Suite Clover and this Suite did not disappoint! If you like to Really get away, have a cozy, warm retreat that allows you to make the place a home away from home- this is your best choice. You will not have a front desk to go to, you will not have anyone attending to your every need, but you will have a romantic , beautiful retreat in a lovely rural setting. We love it here! Thank you Lautenbachs for your wonderful barn creation!
