My family visited from Michigan for one night on our way to our final vacation destination in North Carolina - a perfect halfway stop. We checked in and decided to get a half day lake pass for that afternoon. Worked out perfect since the weather was great and we could get up and get back on the road in the... More

We wanted to experience a white water rafting trip and found Ace Adventures online when looking for a spot we could stay and also play. They offer tent campsites, small cabins, and chalets for lodging. We rented one of their cabins in the Blackberry area. (#787 - See pictures) It came with two full sized beds, a microwave, a coffee... More

We camped in a tent early in the season (night temps in the 40s) and thought we had electricity on site, but when we arrived, it was nothing but a grassy area. Site was not even numbered or marked in any way, and arriving after dark made for a disappointing stay. Perhaps better in the summer. Also, if you're planning... More

Sir, We are genuinely grateful for your constructive criticism as it will help us in the future to improve and become more aware of specific areas that need improved upon most. My two children and I just spent four days at ACE, and we had such a great time. Coming from NY, this was very different than anything we have ever experienced. Even though we did not do the whole camping with tents, we stayed in a cabin, it was close enough for us to enjoy some real nature. We did... More

Hi to our new friends in NYC! Thank you so much for this honest review. I really think a lot of families will relate to a lot of the points you mentioned. You are spot on about the cell phone coverage here in rural WV. Good news is, if you have AT&T or Verizon you are likely going to have... More

For this sort of huge resort the bathrooms should be better unkept. Some of them didn't have mirrors, some of them had hair all over the floor and shower, other had little to no good pressure. I don't think it was clean enough. Don't expect to see anything but the hand soap. The campground itself is nice.

Hi my name is Heidi and I work for ACE Adventure Resort. I read your review today and wanted you to know that it has been passed on to our housekeeping staff as well as our owners for their review. I agree, for a resort of our size, our bathrooms should always be kept clean and tidy for our guests.... More

We did the one-day adventure: 1/2 day on the lake, 1/2 day whitewater. We got there a bit late in the morning, but made the breakfast - WOW, excellent food. REAL scrambled eggs and great everything else: we overstuffed ourselves. The weather wasn't too hot, so it took us a while to get into the lake activities, but after we... More

This was our first time at ACE and driving 4 1/2 hours from Kentucky, most--but decidedly not all-of it was well worth the time and expense. The best value, hands down, was the white water trip down the New River. Traveling with two children, ages 9 and 11, my husband and I appreciated the wonderfully personable, knowlegeable and skilled guides... More

We just returned from five days at ACE Adventure Camp, with my friend, my daughter, and her friend. While there, we stayed in the cedar cabins, which were immaculate and smelled wonderful; the bathhouse, about a 30 second walk away, was kept clean and tidy as well, and was serviced several times throughout the day. The beds were quite comfortable,... More

“Make sure that you check your cell phone service provider before leaving your home town, and ensuring that it covers WV area. You will have no data service, but can always access from the welcome center. If you are scare of the dark, you may want to reconsider. Getting to your cabin, at night, can be a bit scary for younger kids. When doing the water rafting, make sure you bring cash or card because the suit rental is not included in the price of your activity.”

“Do not stay in the Dogwood Chalet on site! If you want to be sure you have a warm and dry pad, go with a nearby hotel in Bekley. Otherwise, just go with the tents. Can't beat the $10 a night price!”
