We enjoyed the Silver Cloud Hotel at Point Rustin and thought it first class (except the parking fee). Based on that experience, let's try another one. Wrong! While traveling, it is required to have a comfortable, quiet place to relax and rejuvenate, and this hotel was neither. Not only was it a night and day experience compared with Point Rustin, it was night and day compared with all but a hand full of hundreds of hotels we've used over the years, but we were literally up night and day with the roadway and train traffic noise, about 1 football field from the hotel. We were to bed by 11:00 am and awake at 4:30 am for the day due to noise. And we had a LONG flight to catch to the East Coast at SeaTac. Unpleasant and not repeatable. We also agree with Erin (see previous review) about deceptive "water-view" guest rooms.…
My husband and I went for a little weekend getaway and absolutely loved our stay at the Solver Cloud Inn. Our room even had an awesome tub in it. The waterfront area is really nice for a walk and we were close to some great restaurants. We enjoyed our time!
Great guest experience, clean room with view of the water .Allowed to check in early which was nice! Dining room even has a great view to enjoy provided hot breakfast every morning. Will stay again for sure. Thanks!
Hotel does Deceptive advertising for water view rooms. Paid for a water view room and instead looked mainly at the parking lot and road. Contacted management and could not move us. Did not offer a price reduction after our stay. Very crowded/busy parking lot, not good for kids. Breakfast food was good
The Silver Cloud on Ruston Way is in a very nice location on the waterfront in Tacoma. The Silver Cloud Inn at Point Ruston is a different location. We had a water view room, which was nice, but the bathroom was very small. Upon checking in on August 28th, there were 6-8 people talking to a check in clerk. None of the 6-8 people were wearing a face mask. There was a posted mask required on the front door for people to see. After the group left I asked about masks being required and about the group of 6-8 not wearing masks. I was told they were just asking questions or perhaps directions. Really, it takes that many people to ask questions? I told the clerk that shouldn’t make any difference that masks were required upon entering. Another response from clerk was “what can you do?” Meaning what can you do if people aren’t wearing masks. The responses I received about the group of 6-8 people not wearing masks were very unprofessional and not appropriate. It would have been very easy and safe for the clerk to offer the group facemasks. I left a review about what had happened, but I never heard back from the general manager. So… the masks mandate that was posted is not being enforced at this location, or at least it wasn’t on this occasion. Also, be aware there is a deposit required at checking in time. This is in addition to the cost of the room. I didn’t see this on their website. The deposit on August 28th was $50.00. In June or July when there was 100 degree plus weather we stayed at the same Silver Cloud Inn on Ruston Way and the same room type. The deposit then was $275.00!…
This place is a little pricey but it was worth every penny. We got a corner jacuzzi suite and the view was spectacular over the water. The staff was super friendly and Ann in particular. There was an issue with our keys and she was very helpful and apologetic. She was even able to get us milk for the evening when we asked.
Family visiting from California. Checkin was early and room available. Room was clean and enjoyed viewing of sunset. Enjoyed watching ocean activities and wildlife. Took advantage of complimentary laundry after going to national parks. Loved the proximity to dukes seafood and enjoyed so much we went twice.breakfast was ok but appreciated. Would visit again since staying in Seattle is overrated
For my first visit to Tacoma, I wasn't sure where to stay, and was attracted to the Silver Cloud's location on the water. The room was comfortable, clean, everything in good working order. Staff were helpful and responsive. I didn't get to see all the facilities/amenities, and with COVID protocols, breakfast was all to-go, but better than other offerings I've seen in these circumstances. The elevator was out of order while I was there (2-night stay) - which didn't affect my stay on the first floor, but could be important for some visitors.
The room was disappointing, ugly decor and overlooked construction site with cranes. Train runs a lot. Advertised fireplace in room - Nooooo-was an led light display!!!!!!! Seriously! That’s false advertising. It was a 200 dollar room! Shameful
We have spent one night here when working remotely and while exploring local trails. This is a top notch experience for little staycation. Located right on the waterfront with great views, good free breakfast, fast Wi-Fi for remote work and most importantly the amazing jacuzzi tub in the corner of room 344. Great views, beautiful fireplace, comfy bed. Front desk staff very friendly. Totally recommend Northern Fish shack next door for some take out Fish & Chips. Will stay again!
