Doubletree Sea-Tac Airport had always been my favorite hotel in the area prior to the Pandemic. Surely, the hotel can use some major renovation, as both the interior and exterior are way past its prime. The fitness center is really small given the size of the hotel, but the rooms are good-sized and the location is excellent with good array of food outlets around it within walking distance, and most importantly, the shuttle to and from the airport used to run three to four times per hour depends on time of the day, which is my number one factor in picking an airport hotel. Check-in at peak travel hours can be a pain especially given the large size of the hotel but in general, it was nothing too off-putting. However, things have certainly changed now when I resumed domestic travel in April. My arrival experience was positive, as I arrived at some off-peak afternoon hours. The shuttle was lightly occupied and check-in was leisurely and speedy. The agent asked if I wanted daily housekeeping, which I said “yes,” and informed me that the shuttle ran only twice per hour now – on the hour and half hour, which I was a bit surprised but I presumed the volume of travelers must remain low but my presumption was shattered during my subsequent three rides to and from the airport. I had a one-day trip to nearby Pacific NW cities and my flight was 7am, so I took the 5am shuttle. At first, the crowd did not look too bad, but as we got closer, the crowd was building. The bus was packed to the grill with passengers standing on the aisle. It would be okay if it was the type of shuttle bus designed for standing rooms. There was no railing for the standing passengers to grip on and there are plenty of elderly passengers. It was hard to change seats too because the bus was already packed in its design. It is clear that they are not designed for standing passengers. I would also add that not many passengers were wearing masks, which created a second layer of danger. The same unfortunate situation happened on my return at 8pm the same evening, and the 6:30am shuttle the next morning. At least they pulled out a second bus the next morning because there was even a lack of standing room and there were some handicapped passengers. This current shuttle situation is the reason for the one-star rating and I will avoid to stay here till Covid-19 is over. I can’t risk my health and physical safety. I will recommend you avoiding the hotel, unless you don’t need the shuttle and fly in and out during the slow hours in mid-morning and mid-afternoon. If you are taking the shuttle, you should wear a mask especially given how many people are sniffing their noses and coughing.…
We had a great experience! We chose the Doubletree because of the proximity to the airport and the air conditioning. We checked in during a huge influx of guests as everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing...check in at 3! The line was very long but...our Front Desk Agent was fantastic. Very calm under the circumstances, even telling us it was just his 5th day on the job. Bravo! The room was perfect. Spacious, clean, cool, relaxing. Just what we were hoping for. We did not use the dining facilities except for a coffee one morning. It was nice just walking through the lobby and talking with staff and people. Thank you for a great stay during such 'hot' circumstances!
Thank you so much Katherine for all your hard work tonight! You had a CRAZY amount of people and flight crews that you were dealing with! I checked in at 1:30 am and when I got to my room, my key didn’t work and Katherine was able to sort out the room problem and figure it out. Hire more hard workers like Katherine!
I am sure glad I used the Hilton app to check in! The line was very long at 7 pm and I breezed on by and used the digital key on the app to open my room door. I’m in the tower on the 12th floor. Yes, there is a view and a balcony, but no seating on the balcony. Room has coffee maker and fridge. Crabtree and Evelyn products. I’m in a king room and the bed is comfortable. I’m told the shuttle runs to the airport at the top of each hour. Bring earplugs if road noise bothers you. I was upgraded to the Hilton Honors floor as a HH Diamond. I will stay here in the future!
Rude Staff at check in, unhelpful , unpolite and simply don't know what they are doing. next day i have asked about my Diamond Member Breakfast options they said no they don't offer complementary breakfast ??? seriously ?
My flight was cancelled and the airline gave me a voucher for the Doubletree. I have stayed in several Sea-Tac area properties but not this one. As soon as the shuttle landed, I was charmed by the outgoing staff, the landscaping, the big windows, the spotless room and the LG television which my pricier downtown Seattle hotel did not have. Yes, this is a big hotel but that was part of the charm. Since I had to "hang out" the next day before my evening flight I found plenty of light filled, comfortable seating areas to enjoy, including by the pool, that was a lot more fun than the noisy airport. Food is easily available from coffee kiosk, to gift shop, to sit down restaurants but be warned, everything is super expensive. Honestly, it just didn't matter because I was so grateful to be comfortable and the airline helped pick up the tab. And the STAFF is AMAZING. From the front desk, to the cleaning staff, to the gals in the breakfast room...everyone went out of their way to be chatty and thoughtful. I was IMPRESSED.…
Asandra’s customer service was an A+++ after a long day of travel with cancelled flights as we arrived at almost midnight and needed a room and parking. She gave us cookies and got us checked in quickly! Her kindness was just what we needed!!!
I stayed in a room in a part of the hotel that seemed older, only maybe 3-4 floors. It was a small room, clean but kind of a musty smell, gave some 80s or 70s vibes. It was an excellent price at $120 and I needed the room only for 6 hours before my flight so it worked fine. Probably needs a renovation. the van to the airport was convenient and the room was clean so it checks the boxes but don't expect more than that. However, at the price, what do you really want?
The workout room was nice. Beds were average. The water pressure in the shower was super strong which would have been nice accept it wouldn't drain quick enough and everything in the drain started coming back up. Grout was dirty. Got lost a couple of times. The parking was super expensive as well as the food. You need to sign up for something in order to get the wifi which didn't suck but it was just weird. You don't automatically get room service. You need to call down and request specifically what you want. Overall it was a very average hotel stay.
Clean, fairly well appointed (update the desk with a few USB ports), comfortable bed BUT FLAT SHEETS INSTEAD OF FITTED on bed…..which I hate. Only reason being, when you pull the top sheet out to get into bed, the bottom (flat) gets untucked and you possibly wind up on a bare mattress. Good sized bathroom, a bit dated but ok. I don’t know why but the floor was ICE COLD. A bit uncomfortable when needing it in the middle of the night. A Starbucks in the lobby with a few goodies and the restaurant has a great breakfast. It’s a bit pricey but you won’t leave hungry. If taking the Light-rail into Pike Market, take the airport shuttle back to the airport and get the light rail from there……..parking at the hotel is crazy. I’ve stay here before and will again. Don forget your cookie.
