We stayed a night the previous April and we were treated to a really nice dinner and phenomenal performance by a guy and his acoustical guitar. What an amazing surprise.

Thanksgiving Dinner destination was the Lyle Hotel, a quaint out of the way establishment that has been rehabilitated. From the wine selection to the lovely and intimately prepared and served meal it was delightful.
Happened to run across this hotel when we were on a trip from Chicago to Washington. It is a quaint old railroad station turned hotel. It is the coolest place to stay! The bathrooms and showers aren't in your room but right across the hall...More

The hotel is on the Washington side, west of The Dalles and close to the Columbia River. I went with a friend and we stayed in a room that had two twin beds and a view of the river out one of the windows. The hotel is on a small, rural residential street, and it is also close to the train tracks, so there is a bit of train noise at night. We didn't mind it though. In terms of the bathroom, it was almost across the hall, and there were several of them, in case one was occupied. This is a sweet, old funky hotel with a great restaurant, and it's also one of the rare places you can stay on the Gorge outside of The Dalles. Lastly, it definitely has personality and isn't a Motel Six.
