Wonderful atmosphere with careful decorator touches to make you feel as though you are a guest in a European country house. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Never hurts to welcome you to your room with a bottle of wine on ice! Breakfast with quiche, scones, and fresh fruit was a wonderful start to the day.
We always go away late April to Williamsburg, Still looking for the perfect accommodations and this place was far from that. While the staff were personable and the continental breakfast was done well, our room left much to be desired. The bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable -- a mushy, saggy mattress with 4 of the thinnest, flattest pillows ever put on a bed. Nice quality sheets do not a comfortable bed make. The side chairs were terrible -- cramped and no fun to sit in. There was no good place to sit in the room -- there was the bed or these awful chairs. Our thermostat didn't work and when, at midnight on a Saturday night there were party goers making noise in the hallway, we were unable to call down to the front desk to ask for assistance because the room phone wasn't operational. Shower and bathtub were decidedly ordinary and not indicative of spending over $250/night. Sorry -- cannot recommend this place.…
We stayed for one night in the Westphalia room. We arrived just before 5 pm and were given two wine tasting vouchers and a complimentary bottle of wine, our choice (Hotels.com VIP). After unloading our luggage in the room and changing clothes, we walked to the winery area and purchased cheese, crackers, pretzels, raspberry honey mustard, and chocolates and brought them over to the wine tasting pavilion and ate a light dinner to live music while drinking our wine flights. Very lovely and romantic evening — and we had beautiful sunny weather, light breeze, 75 degrees! Then the next morning we enjoyed our buffet breakfast in the elegant hotel restaurant, took a walk through the grounds, and enjoyed a full day in colonial Williamsburg. A wonderful overnight getaway from DC! This is just a beautiful time of year to visit!…
We spent the weekend at Wedmore Place for my partner's birthday and it was perfection. Even thought it's still winter and nothing was in bloom, the grounds are gorgeous. The staff was great--from the front desk reception, to the breakfast room, to the Tavern, tasting room and even the guy who built our fire. We stayed in the Catalonia room on the 2nd floor. A little noise from the hallway but otherwise very quiet and definitely charming. And the location was just a short drive from restaurants and the historic area. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I stayed here while visiting family in the area. Check-in was fast & friendly. We stayed in an upstairs room & did not experience much noise & slept peacefully after eating at the Tavern on premises. The front desk gave us 2 vouchers for a free flight at the winery, which would normally be $16 a piece, very nice! Upon return to the room, we asked to have a fire built (thank you Tony!). A nice touch! The bed was extremely comfortable & the bathroom was large & very clean. Breakfast consisted of quiche, pastries, fruit, etc. Everything was delicious! We will be staying here again.
We recently spent a weekend enjoying Williamsburg. We found a room at this nice inn, and showed up in the evening. The desk was staffed late, and the woman was nice, prompt, and got us going quickly. She found us some non-feather pillows that we needed also. The room was as advertised, with old world charm, and a decent bathroom with both bath and shower. But then the people in the room above came back from their event. They weren't shouting or dancing. They were merely talking and walking about, and other things that people do in hotel rooms. Unfortunately, we could hear it ALL. Easily. We live in an urban setting, so are used to noise. But this was able to keep us awake for the night, as the people were going to enjoy themselves into the ealry morning hours. So, the hotel staff was very nice, both at the desk, and during the provided continental breakfast. The room was nice. Just too noisy if you should happen to get people staying above you who want to stay up and active. So, I suggest you get a top-floor room if you want some sleep.…
We stayed in wales room 23. So charming with a real fireplace and roomy. King bed, nice size bathroom with all essentials, desk and sitting area. The rooms are all very good size. The floors are wood so you’ll hear walking, but the place is very quiet. If you are a light sleeper, you’ll want a sound machine app. Included in our stay was a wine flight and glasses at the Williamsburg winery on property. So good! Of course you’ll purchase your favorites. Breakfast was very good as well, pastries, quiche, fruit, and continental items. Our servers were the best! Definitely will stay again.
An unexpected pleasure awaited me and my companion. The views are breathtakingly beautiful. We plan to return perhaps early Spring. Really enjoy this unique place that provided comfort and relaxation. Love the old world charm. It was like a dream. If I didn't know better I would have thought we had traveled to Europe! The staff was very accommodating and professional. My biggest regret is that I did not purchase a 2nd bottle of wine! The only concern I had was with the bathroom. The shower tiles did not look clean. Not sure if it was normal wear and tear. If so, the establishment may want to remodel. Still would not deter me from visiting again. I did not ask housekeeping to clean, I suspect if I had they would. Took off a point because of the bathroom tiles. :(
Very neat place of the beaten path. Decorated with antique type furnishings. Hotel was clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Their breakfast has fresh baked croissants and quiche. Not your normal continental breakfast.
We stayed at the hotel with several other family members and loved it. We appreciated the uniquely appointed , comfortable rooms. The morning breakfast is not to be missed. It was excellent! So glad we were able to stay here during our visit to Williamsburg.
