I just returned from a 4 night Girls Golf Vacation in Williamsburg. Our accommodations were at the Historic Powhatan Resort, and the reservation was booked thru Golf Zoo. (I will also write a review for Golf Zoo.) Our group consisted of 6 women, so we booked one 2-bedroom condo, and one 3-bedroom condo. During the booking process, we were told that each bedroom contained its own bathroom, and each bedroom had either a queen or king bed. Upon arrival, and to our extreme dismay, we discovered that the 3-bedroom condo was actually a 2-bedroom/2bathroom with a VERY SMALL LOFT containing 2 mini-twin beds. The Loft did NOT have a closet, so technically should not be listed as a "bedroom". In addition, the Loft was on the 3rd floor of the condo, so the person staying in the loft had to travel down to the 2nd floor to use the bathroom facilities. We also discovered that the 2-bedroom condo only had 1 actual 'bedroom' and one room that contained 2 mini-twin beds, no closet, and NO TV. Needless to say, both discoveries put a huge damper on our vacation because 2 members of our party were very uncomfortable during their entire stay. I contacted the resort front office on numerous occasions concerning this matter and to determine if they could at least have their housekeeping staff move the twin beds together and make them up so the guests could sleep a bit more comfortably. I am STILL waiting for a response from the resort pertaining to this request. It is doubtful that we will stay at this resort in the future OR recommend the resort to any of our friends/family. We are part of a very large golf community in the DMV, members of which travel extensively to play golf. I would have loved to recommend this Hilton property had Hilton been more honest about the room sizes AND had the hotel staff taken the time and energy to ensure we, as their guests, were comfortable and satisfied....despite the fact that we booked our reservation thru a third party.

Thank you for the candid feedback. Our staff prides itself on being responsive and forthright and your experience is very uncommon and not our standard level of service. We do apologize that Golf Zoo did not book the unit types requested, or fully explain the layouts of the units. It does sound like the 2nd unit booked was a two-bedroom lock off, which is a 1 bedroom downstairs and a 1 bedroom upstairs. We have provided Golf zoo with clear descriptions of the units and the bedding type in each. Again we are very sorry for any confusion between Golf Zoo and our Central reservations. The Historic Powhatan Resort sincerely hopes this will not deter you from allowing us another opportunity to present you with a phenomenal vacation experience you deserve.

Hotel's Favourite
The resort was located very conveniently in the historic triangle. The grounds were beautifully maintained. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Mansion open, so we toured it by ourselves and found it to be beautifully decorated. Not only was the resort located near the Jamestown and Yorktown historic areas, but there were many restaurant options nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it!

The units were wonderful. Our son and family were housed in the upper two bedroom unit and we were in the bottom unit of the lockout. This was ideal. The units are roomy and in excellent condition. The proximity to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens enhanced our family vacation. The pool is excellent also.

I was very excited when we arrived at this resort. The grounds looks beautiful and the place is minutes away from all the major attractions in the area. Unfortunately, our stay went south pretty fast. Check in was ok, although attitudes changed after we firmly refused the timeshare presentation. To be fair, I did notice some nice things about the unit we were assigned: 1) Quite large. The place was actually bigger than my first apartment :D 2) Fairly quiet-- even with the upstairs unit occupied, we only heard the door from the common entry 3) The up/down configuration would be fun/convenient if staying with multiple freinds/family 4) The washer/dryer in the unit, though super-tiny, was a nice bonus. It was great to go home without a ton of stinky clothes. HOWEVER-- they are obviously renovating so I guess this might be a bit harsh. But we were stuck way back in basically a construction zone, with tons of dumpsters and conexes and junk all over. The unit itself was wide open (both the outer door and the inner entrance to the unit) when we walked in, which made me REALLY uneasy. The inside had been cleaned, but was so old and beat up that it still felt dirty (rusty fridge, beat up furniture, scuffs on the walls, etc). And then just to top it off, there were bugs....lots of bugs. They didn't hurt us, but.....gross. Overall....I've seen this place on AFV club for about 379 for a whole week's stay. For that price I'd probably say it was worth it. But we payed a significantly higher price for a few days. I wouldn't say I'll NEVER come back, but if I do it will have do be for a much lower price or a serious upgrade in the units.

Thank you for expressing your feedback. Our front desk is accessible 24 hours and will respond to all requests and/or concerns immediately. The Historic Powhatan Resort prides itself on the cleanliness of the resort and we do hope you gave our staff the opportunity to assist you throughout your visit. This is not typical of the standards we hold for cleanliness and maintenance of our units. We sincerely apologize for this. Please also note that the Home owners association renovates 100 units per year over the past 8 years. We do have only 1 section left to renovate. Please never hesitate to reach out to us should there ever be cleanliness or maintenance items that need to be addressed. The Historic Powhatan welcomes you back on all your future travels. My husband and I stayed here for one week for our anniversary over Memorial Day weekend. The staff were courteous and helpful, the property was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the ducks and geese and deer that wandered freely. Our room was a two bedroom suite that was gifted to us. It was very comfortable and met all our needs, I especially enjoyed the private back patio and the sunroom. All in all, excellent stay and would quickly come back!!

3BR townhouse layout: First floor has a king bed, walk-in closet, large bathroom, open living room and dining room, moderate size kitchen, odd bonus room, and a small deck. Second floor has a king bed, walk-in closet, large bathroom, full size washer/dryer, and a sitting area that is open to the living room with pull out sofa. Third floor / attic has 2 twin beds, a skylight and a dedicated air conditioner. Pros: very large like a residential townhouse, 2 reserved parking spots, very well maintained, very clean, 2 large bathrooms, 2 pull out sofas (in living room and second floor sitting area), odd little room off the living room is good for alone time (used to house a hot tub), third floor has a dedicated air conditioning unit, one pool and hot tub are reserved for 18 and older. Cons: $165/week with tax mandatory“resort” fee is highest in the area, very noisy steps, very creaky floors, poor curtains on third floor bedroom (bring eye shades), WiFi is open so use a VPN for your accounts, WiFi frequently makes you log back in, poor (1 bar) Verizon cell phone reception, water has that slimy feel can’t wash off the soap, no place to store food in the kitchen, no bathroom on the third floor, 2 bedrooms enter their suite bathrooms through walk in closets (very odd layout), second floor pull out sofa area is open to main living area so has lots of light and noise, only 3 gas grills on site while the rest are your charcoal. June 2022.

They have a pool that is only for adults..which is fine but this was not mentioned online nor was it mentioned at check in. Could not go in pool with my 16 yr old bc he was not old enough to go on the one side. They told him he had to go with little kids. Had I known this, probably would not have booked! Couldn’t even enjoy my time!

Thank you for letting us know about your recent stay. We are sorry to hear that your time with us did not go as expected. We appreciate your feedback, as it will help us take the necessary actions to ensure all guests enjoy a home away from home experience during their time with us. To be clear on our outdoor pools - We have an adults only side - 18 years and older. We also have a lap pool, a family pool, a kiddie pool AND an indoor pool. We do not restrict adults from going into all the other pools available, we only restrict children under 18 from going onto the adult side. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. Kevin Johnson - General Manager

Overall Great experience, few minor details with the room like a broken sink spray nozzle, detached vent in bathroom and a burned out lightbulb. Staff was great. brought our own boat and went on the James River. Lots of catfish. Jamestown Settlement specifically the Glass House was fascinating.

The resort is lovely with properties that are all clean and painted. The lawns are groomed and it is surrounded by trees. Our unit was cleaner than many motel rooms we have stayed in. I would highly trrecommend this to anyone.

The resort is tired. While it appears that there is some renovation going on in the resort our room was outdated, the couch had stains and buttons were coming off, an AC vent was falling out of the ceiling, walls were in need of repair from holes and decay, the kitchen appliances were old and stained and our in room dryer did not dry well. It did appear clean, but as i began, the resort was tired.
