The Delta Hotels Virginia Beach Waterfront seems to offer a mix of experiences. While the staff's service has received both accolades and criticism, the atmosphere is generally well-regarded, with guests enjoying the clean, comfortable rooms and scenic balconies. The rooms are spacious, although some guests reported maintenance and cleanliness issues.
The hotel's serene location near the beach is a highlight, but dissatisfaction arises from extra fees and perceived limited value. Amenities like the private beach are appreciated, yet some guests feel the hotel could improve its offering.

Detailed Reviews
Staying at this hotel was an incredible experience. The location was situated right on the beach w beach access from the restaurant, Tin Cup. The food and service there was also very well prepared and the servers were very timely and friendly! This was the first time our company has made a trip to Virginia Beach was 5 star from the moment we arrived the valet Stuart and staff handled the incoming traffic and parking the cars exceptionally well. Once entering the hotel the front desk staff was very well equipped to get us to our rooms. From top to bottom I can say this establishment has a very well rounded staff and I can’t wait to be coming back for our future employee travels to this area.

Hotel is very nice, modern. Rooms were clean and spaced great. Loved the bathroom layout and had plenty of space for four in a two queen room.
Restaurant on site was delicious and there was a pantry that offered snacks, drinks and coffee- loved that option.
Location is not near the hustle of the resort like Virginia Beach but was about a 15 minute car ride away. Beach view is best front Ocean front rooms (clearly) but we had a parking lot/residential view. Wasn't the best but we didn't want to spend the extra money. If beach view is important then spend the extra money for a beachfront view or you will be looking at a parking lot or house.
Beach is nice. It was windy & chilly during our stay so we did not spend time at the beach but on a nice day I could see myself chilling there for a few hours.
Room walls are not soundproof and had neighbors for one night that were very loud and disruptive. Called the front desk and it was handled.
Parking spots were easy to find.
Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful.
Attended an event at the hotel and it was a good time, good food and the service staff did a good job.
I would stay here again visiting VB.

We had a nice 4 night stay at this hotel. Having only been open for about 2 weeks since renovation, there are definitely a few issues, but overall our stay was great. We had three rooms for our family - my MIL had oceanfront which had great views. The rooms are spacious with the living room in front and bedroom in the back. The living room area was a bit dark since there are no windows. There is a small refrigerator and microwave in the room.
Service on the room was minimal - I’m not sure if they’re still not cleaning rooms due to COVID or if they’re just understaffed, but we had to ask for our trash to be emptied and no one came by to clean. The pool area was nice and will be great in warmer weather. TinCup was a bit overpriced, but you’re paying for the view and the food was decent. We had access to the Delta Pantry as titanium members. It was great for coffee and pastries in the morning, but was rarely restocked.
We did have A/C issues in our first room and they had to move us, but we got an upgrade to an oceanfront room which was amazing. The front desk staff is really great and helpful and you can tell they’re trying hard to make guests’ stays the best they can be. We dealt with Will several times and he was friendly and responsive. Other staff members were great, too, but I didn’t get their names. I really liked that they area was quiet and more residential. Not sure what it’s like in the summer, but it was a great, quiet getaway for us for a few days. I think as time goes on the hotel will only improve. It’s a great option for a quieter stay in Virginia Beach.

The hotel looks very nice. The rooms look very nice. Looks are deceiving. Avoid this property if you have a family and plan to stay for more than one or two days. The hotel lacks the basic elements of service that most hotels at this price point should have. There is no room service. There is no daily room cleaning . This was not initially communicated to us when we checked in. We were later told this was due to "covid restrictions" even though there are none in VA Beach or the hotel. Maybe they should clean more since when we arrived we found mold all over our shower curtain, and a half eaten salad hidden behind the curtain that the housekeeping staff clearly missed when turning over the room. Disgusting. When we arrived at the hotel, like any other "4 star" hotel we thought there would be a bell person to take the bags up. Nope. We were handed a trolley to take the bags up. At least we found a trolley. On our way checking out, there was literally a line of frustrated people stalking the the bag trolleys because the hotel only had 3 for the whole property. Why!? Finally let's talk about dining at the Hotel. Aside from mediocre food, the restaurant has about 5 giant outdoor picnic tables on the back porch and the greeters would seat 1 or 2 people at these giant tables which would create 2 hour long waits for outdoor seating. Why wouldn't there be dozens of smaller tables to accommodate more people when many still feel uncomfortable dining indoors with unvaccinated kids.

This hotel is false advertisement. The photos are misleading, and don’t believe that this is a new hotel. It’s run down. The hotel staff is using COVID as an excuse to offer NO service. Our shower had no cold water. The manager on duty was casual unprofessional, and made no attempt to fix the shower. With 3 young children, having no working shower was not acceptable. After the manager never got back to me and gave me the run around for hours, the night staff moved us to another room. We had a working shower but the new room never got cooler than 78 degrees, which in VA beach was sticky and uncomfortable. My kids kept waking up throughout the night. For over $700 a night, I expected a reasonable level of service and things throughout the hotel to be in working order. They were not. Simple things like the elevators took unreasonably long to arrive. Other guests commented on this as we waited and waited. The hoses at the lobby to rinse off the sand from the beach we’re all out of order which meant that the guests were all trekking sand through the lobby and to the rooms, which was just messy and dirty. They offered no maid service, but they also failed to bring extra towels or soap when requested. No one was available to help us take our luggage to our rooms upon check in. If they charged $100 per night, I may understand the lack of service. But to charge top rates and be so unprofessional - I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. I expected the Marriott brand to mean something.

Pros:
• The Location: you can't beat the beachfront location. Direct and quick access to the beach and the restaurant had great views
• Flexibility: the hotel allows guests to freely bring into the hotel their own food and beverages. This really helps when the alternative is to wait an hour for a table in a restaurant that is empty.
•Large rooms: very comfortable with a small suite, kitchenette. Ideal for families who prefer to bring their own food, especially since getting service in the hotel is a struggle.
Cons:
• Understaffed: this might be due to the pandemic, but if the hotel does not have enough staff to serve its guests, then it should not be booked to capacity, but it was pretty full. They only have one restaurant for the entire hotel, and very little staff, which wait times (for a table and for your food to arrive) very long.
• Poor Communication: there were a host of policies that I assume were due to the pandemic, yet no one communicated them to us and that had an impact on our stay. For example, you have to request housekeeping ahead of time, and there is a wait list for that. By the time we learned of this policy, it was too late. I was fortunate that I ran into a very sweet housekeeper who offered to make our beds, but that was it, since she had her day full with other reservations. I didn't even get the trash bins emptied, but I was "fortunate" to at least get my bed made.
Also, there were laundry bins in each room, and we had no idea what they were for. Apparently, you had to put your towels in there to get fresh ones. But there was not sign, flyer, or anything in the room with these instructions, so I only found out about it because I asked a staff person there.
Finally, there is no room service. You have to call the restaurant to order "carryout" which I tried doing and could never get through, probably due to the fact that they have such limited staffing resources.
• Overpriced for what you get: I get that this is a beachfront hotel and that comes with a hefty price tag, but to pay almost $1000 dollars for two nights, and not even get your trash taken our, is extreme in my opinion.
In conclusion, I would gladly pay this amount if I were getting the corresponding service. I'm surprised about the poor management coming from a Marriot. Also, they seriously need to communicate their policies and regulations with staff better. Essentially if you don't ask around, you wont be served.

This is a newly renovated hotel and it shows. The rooms itself and location are great. The main problem is service. I’m Marriott Titanium and didn’t get upgraded to a better room despite the fact that they had availability for higher rooms based on my stay. This is a general problem with Marriott in the US though so not faulting them for that. I opted to receive a $10 credit for my benefit and that wasn’t applied. I ended up having to get it applied post check out.
As far as service it was just inconsistent. Towels by the pool area weren’t stocked so we had to wait for it to be replenished. The Tin Cup restaurant was a hot mess. There was no one in the reception stand so you don’t know if it’s self-seating or waiting to be seated. When they did have someone there, they were also serving, so it was just really inefficient and disorganized. Messaging to get towels or other amenities via the app is useless so better to call the front desk. The snack room available for Titanium and Club Lounge members often had the coffee machine not working and snacks not replaced during prime breakfast hours.
Overall I think they’re trying their best, but when you’re paying $400-$500/night, the service better be on par.

My family stayed in a 2 bedroom beach bayfront suite. Note although this is a 2 bedroom suite, only 1 bedroom has privacy. The 2nd bedroom is open to the living room area with no door and you have to walk through this bedroom to get to the 2nd bedroom. So there is no privacy in one of the bedrooms. This is not disclosed on their website that I could see and feel this is misleading by not disclaiming this. Living room area is relatively small. Upon arrival, there was a bloody paper towel and another very soiled towel next to the bedroom nightstand. I was on the phone looking for another hotel to go to but my wife encouraged me to stay b/c then we would have missed our dinner reservation for my daughters birthday. The A/C vent in our room was filthy. There was linens and pizza boxes in the hallways when we checked in and they were still there the next day after we returned from breakfast. Also noted a used band aid in the middle of the hallway that was there the entire weekend. These are big / easily noticeable stuff that should be immediately noted and corrected by HOH. If this stuff goes unaddressed, then it frightens me to think about the small details / cleaning that gets missed. This is not what I expected from a Marriott-flagged property, especially one with a weekend ADR of $709. I regret not immediately checking out and going to another hotel upon arrival and I am honestly embarrassed that I put my family in this hotel.

As part of our Thanksgiving travel, we checked in for our two-night stay in Virginia Beach. The one surprise charge which wasn't clear until we checked in was a $16/day parking fee. This seemed excessive and unnecessary. The lot was almost always half empty and spaces were tight.
Nevertheless, after checking in, we realized that we were placed in a dirty room (see pics) where we found mouse feces and several other issues including food on the floor and a dry booger on the bathroom wall. When we complained, the manager, Chris, put us in a new room. Since we were late for our Thanksgiving festivities, Chris indicated that he would reach out to us to discuss the matter the next day and make up for it. However, he never did as he was out the next day. When we tried to follow up, we reached a different manager, Jessica, who said she would get back to us after she confirmed the issue. Just like Chris, she also did not reach back out to us. We then reached out to a third manager, Ava, later that evening. We could barely hear her on the phone as there was lot of noise coming from the front desk area. We asked if she could call us from a quieter location and she said that's where she needed to be. A few minutes later, she asked if she could call us right back. After waiting 20 minutes, we decided to call her back. She told us that she had no notes on the situation and that she needed to call us back after confirming with Chris. When we asked her if she had already reached out to Chris based on our previous wait for her to call us back, she said she had not done so yet. We told her we were tired of waiting for managers to get back to us regarding such a sensitive situation as it had been well over 24 hours since we had spoken to Chris and that this was taking excessively long to address with three different managers. In fact, all she tried to offer us for our experience was a $50 credit and a bunch of points. When I asked her what she would do if she was in our situation, she said that she would not stay at the hotel. This both shocked and confused us. If we should not stay at that hotel based on our experience, why would we accept a $50 credit and a bunch of points? However, she was unapologetic during our call and even hung up on us twice when we complained about the lack of communication between managers. When she finally called us back 20 minutes later, we explained to her that we were unable to call out from the room phone as if our ability to do so was disabled after being disconnected. None of the buttons on the phone reached out to any of the available services which was a safety concern. We even tested this out with both phones in the room with the same results. However, she did not apologize or even bother to look into the issue. This confirmed our concerns that we were intentionally disconnected. Eventually, after some back and forth, she agreed to comp one night of our stay based on how unpleasant the whole situation was (though we still had to pay room taxes for both nights).
We ended up reaching out to Marriott to investigate the whole situation. Based on how we were treated and how poorly managers communicated with us and each other, we will not be returning here in the future. This was completely unacceptable and not what we expected of Marriott properties.

Hotel Run By Idiots
Stayed one night and liked the location and view so much that we decided to return for 4 nights a couple of months later. Again, the view from the bayfront rooms is fantastic. Everything else about the place was mediocre to poor. The front desk staff is unfriendly and incompetent.
When we arrived, the room looked clean at first glance, but we soon realized that none of the surfaces had been cleaned and it didn’t look like it had been vacuumed, and no toiletries had been left in the bathroom. We called the front desk to have some toiletries sent up, but no one ever came. At the end of the following day no one had come to clean our room, so I called the front desk to have someone sent up. I was told that if we have the “Do Not Disturb” tag on our door when the cleaning staff arrives at 7:30 AM then we’re taken off the housekeeping list. The same happened the next two days. Our room ended up being cleaned only once during our four-night stay. With every interaction, the front desk staff really tried to make it sound like it was somehow our fault. They were never able to give a reasonable explanation for why they were seemingly incapable of making anything happen, and never apologized for anything. Absolutely bizarre.
For two days of our stay, some guy in the room above us basically chain smoked out on his balcony during every waking hour of the day and just made it impossible for us to be out on our own balcony. Called the front desk and, of course, nothing was done.
The staff at their Starbucks branded café was rude and obnoxious and their pastries and muffins were always stale, and their coffee was obviously not Starbucks coffee. It was just regular food service coffee that you get at cafeterias and diners, which is perfectly fine, but not when you’re paying $20 for two coffees and two pastries.
Overall, a very overpriced semi-shabby hotel with horrendous service and incompetent management.

No bike path.
It’s about a 15-20 minute drive.
There are beach chairs for rent. I stayed last October and they had chairs for rent then. Check with the hotel on this.
No, there are no resort fees, but they do charge for parking. I believe $16/day.
