We tried out our first tent camping experience here in October & fell in love. We reserved our basic (no water or electric) site (A17) online & were pretty happy with our choice. The only downside was that it backed up to the base gate so there was a lot of light, traffic & talking going on behind us through...

Overall I agree with the positive reviews here. The biggest issue is the sites themselves. We booked at home in Michigan, reserving site C15. Somehow we missed that this was a narrow site intended for a 20' vehicle, and was too short for our 31' 5th wheel and tow truck- oops! So I called the office and fortunately we were...

Been camping here twice and enjoyed it overall both times. It's not a secluded camping experience, but is great for beach lovers. Pros: safe area, short walk to the beach, clean bathrooms and showers (that have hot water), friendly staff, family friendly, pet friendly Cons: Sites vary and may have lots of trees or very few. Some back up to...

We stayed here for our children's spring break and were pleased. The natural surroundings are gorgeous. There is a short stroll to the bay beach access which offers a view of the Bay Bridge, many types of ships and sunset views while watching Dolphins play. The water temp did not allow for swimming but the kids had fun playing in...

$46 a night, including fees and taxes for a 50 amp site. New policy; out of staters paid an additional fee (which we are). Only electric & water, no sites have sewer hook ups, a dump station is available. No wifi, no cable. The park had just opened a week prior to our stay. We stayed there in a 38'...

Cabins were nice in cozy. We could simply call park rangers if we had problems or needed something. Cabin was very close to park vistor center and trails. Great for walking the dog. The cost was inexpensive and all the money goes to the park. The park itself is also a short drive from Virginia Beach and a Food Lion....

We enjoyed our time at this campground. From our campsite, we could hear and see the ocean. This campground has narrow roads, which are not big rig friendly. Use caution. Campground within 1 mile of gas stations, restaurants, freeway and grocery stores. Verizon phones were able to maintain a 4g signal. DirecTV (free standing satellite) had no issue. We utilized...

We have stayed at first landing on a couple of occasions and we will continue to return. Being from NH it is a nice break in April to spend a week :) the beach is great and not crowded . It's really nice when it's clear and you can see the bay bridge .

Our family didn't camp here, but we did decide to drive through and see the park. First, the front gate attendant was very rude to us when we first drove in. We really didn't know if we wanted to just drive through at first or stay and enjoy the beach. This attendant seemed very annoyed at our asking questions to...

We were looking for alternative after our original plans were scuttled by Hurricane Arthur. This place was a very pleasant surprise. Very nice park, inexpensive, spacious secluded sites, clean bath houses. A short walk over the dunes on walkways to the beach. We will definitely return to this little treasure for a longer stay.

“Making a reservation does NOT guarantee a specific site. When you arrive you have to pick the first empty one allotted to what you reserved (ex. electric and water)..some sites are more private where some are in the complete open. Its a little awkward then if you are tent camping.”
