Nestled along the beachfront, Hyatt House Virginia Beach/Oceanfront stands out for its stunning ocean views from guest rooms, which also boast ample space and sought-after amenities, despite some remarks about cleanliness and wear. The hotel pulses with a lively atmosphere, often highlighted by live music and praised for its modernity. While the staff receives accolades for their friendliness, the value proposition is somewhat tarnished by extra fees. Guests enjoy a variety of amenities and a prime location for local attractions, although some report issues with water pressure and Wi-Fi.

We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the amenities -- the kitchenette included everything we needed, even silverware. The view from the room's balcony was spectacular and the staff was excellent! Patient, helpful, and professional.

We were looking to stay in the Virginia Beach area. Hotel was accommodating for COVID restrictions. AM grab n go breakfast could have included milk or or fresh fruit. Staff was friendly and helpful. They helped with towel and other items that could no be provided with restrictions on maid service. Not really the hotel’s fault, but guests should have been more compliant with wearing masks and respecting smaller numbers of people in the elevators. Beach access was close and was not overcrowded. The room was very clean upon arrival. Beautiful view of the ocean. I would definitely recommend staying at the hotel

From looking at all the surrounding buildings, it appears this is one of the newer hotels in the area and worth the higher rate. Our room was clean, modern, nicely furnished, and included a small kitchen, and a balcony with chairs to enjoy the ocean view. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom counter is on the small size, but there is a lot of room to store items beneath the sink. The bathroom shower door is smartly designed to swing inward, so water doesn’t drip on the floor. A room key is needed to activate the elevator, and we appreciated this extra level of security. Parking is valet only, and the parking and counter staff were prompt, friendly and helpful. As with most hotels in this area, the hotel has direct access to the beach. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Virginia Beach.

First off drop off location in front of hotel is very small. I had to circle block for like ten minutes til there was room for us to pull in. At check in we where I fired that there was only valet parking and it would cost $20 night. Nowhere before our stay was we notified of this charge. There was no garbage can in the room only recycling bin for cans and paper and there was no garbage bags in them. The bathroom trash can had no bag. The bathroom floor did not look very clean. Loads of dust on top of the microwave and where hairdryer is under sink. Also the hairdryer looked dirty. No bags in closet for dirty clothes. Then there was breakfast. What little food they gave you was not good and the only beverage offered was coffee that tasted just a little stronger that water. So if you don’t want watered down coffee or you are a child you don’t get anything to drink with your breakfast. Our children had nothing to drink with breakfast. This was not like the Hyatt we have stayed in before and we will not stay in a Hyatt again. There are way too many options out there to spend hard earned money on for subpar service.

We chose this hotel because usually Hyatt properties are really nice and they allow dogs. The recent bad reviews were pretty much confirmed as soon as we arrived. The lobby is pretty well maintained, but when we got to our room (607), we immediately noticed that it was not vacuumed. There were also dead bugs stuck to the ceiling and wall, and the microwave still had food from the previous guest. It also looked like there was a lot of hair in one of the beds. We asked for someone to vacuum right away, and the lady at the front desk told me she'd send up a vacuum- we would have to do it ourselves. I told her this was unacceptable and she pretty much blew me off. We eventually ran into a housekeeper and worked it out with them. Not a good start to a vacation.

Apparently the only stairwell from the lobby is located in the pool room, which is currently closed. That meant we had to use the elevator where about 50% of people did not use masks. It was very concerning that we did not have an option to avoid close encounters with people who refused to wear masks. The other stairways lead you out of the building with no access back in, which is just inconvenient.

The grab and go breakfast was pretty disappointing- 2 muffins, granola bar and fruit cocktail cup. No coffee that we saw.

The valet situation is inconvenient, but they are generally pretty efficient. All in all, the hotel does have nice views, and could be great, but it's just not.

When I addressed my concerns with the employee checking me out, she was nice and understanding- she pretty much gave the impression that she is used to hearing all the concerns I had. She took off all the valet parking fees, which was nice.

I just feel like this hotel is aware of all the bad reviews, but they aren't really doing anything to address the issues. Instead of being okay with handing guests a vacuum, how about you train your staff on how to properly clean a room?

Thank you for your feedback. I do apologize that your stay with us was less than satisfactory. We are reading our reviews and are doing our very best under the circumstances to ensure our guests's concerns are heard and corrections are made. At this time we are going through several changes to follow Covid guidelines and are making adjustments to accommodate our guests. We are now offering hot to go boxes for breakfast that guests can take to their room. We are still not able to offer stay over service during Covid for the safety of our guests and staff but there are procedures in place for housekeeping during Covid and if guests need anything they can call the front desk. It is our hope you give us another opportunity to serve you the next time you're in Virginia Beach. Thank you again for your feedback.

This hotel is beautiful and has loads of potential however . . . we had several issues. The most serious was a soiled comforter that was between the top blanket and top sheet. We called front desk that evening and were told housekeeping wasn’t there but an engineer would handle it. Comforter had been removed and without even looking at it to confirm our complaint she proceeded to explain that they outsource the linens and it was probably just from the laundry process. I won’t gross anyone out but this wasn’t from a laundry process. She replaced our top sheet and cover offered to bring a clean comforter. The next day we had our “Please refresh room” on our door the entire day. At 4:00 pm our room still hadn’t been “refreshed”. Called the desk again and the question was “do you just want towels?” Someone did come and freshen bathroom, replace towels, and dump trash. Never offered to make bed. And we didn’t receive an apology from front seat even when we asked at checkout if housekeeping is included in hotel stay. We were under the impression that even if a hotel doesn’t change sheets every day that at least your bed is made, trash removed, and bathroom cleaned. Complimentary breakfast is just okay! Presentation is nice but we have had more inclusive breakfast at other hotels. We know this was off season but we still expected the rating the hotel advertises.

This hotel should be renamed Hyatt Pet House! Dogs, dogs everywhere. Even though they were not supposed to be in the breakfast area, you dad to dodge dogs on you way from your table to the food area (only a few feet away from the dogs). People brought dogs to the coffee area (even though they weren't supposed to). There were dogs in the lobby. Dogs on the elevators. Just dogs everywhere you look. I guess if you are a dog lover, you might not mind but this hotel apparently doesn't care about those who may be allergic or not stable on their feet. They are more pet friendly than people friendly. The breakfast is as to be expected and the breakfast staff was great. The room was fine. Parking is horrible!! You have to pay $15 per night for valet and there is not enough room to bring cars in front. The valet staff hasn't been trained that they need to allow for wheelchair access along both sides of the vehicle. Overall, we enjoyed our time at VA Beach but will not choose this hotel when returning.

Paid for: fitness center, pool, hot breakfast, daily room cleaning, decent WiFi.

Received: no fitness/pool, fruit/granola bars in a bag, no maid service, spotty WiFi.

I understand there are covid restrictions, but don’t charge for things you aren’t providing.

WiFi was not great but acceptable the first 2 nights but terrible the entire 3rd evening. help desk =worthless. hotel “driveway” has issues getting backed up and blocking traffic both directions on Atlantic Ave, which is really annoying when you’re already a guest and all you want to do is hand your car key to a valet and go to your room, but you can’t even turn into the drive. Then there’s the filthy windows marring beautiful views of the ocean and city. One person could have come and done nothing but clean windows/doors during the entire covid situation when occupancy was zero. Comforters on beds are very, very thin, so if you prefer the weight of a blanket you may want to ask for a couple extra. No room service available even though there are 2 restaurants on the property. Well as far as I could tell -tried to call both the front desk directly and one of the restaurants and got no answer from either around 6:30 tonight.
Ubereats to the rescue. The staff for the most part seem to care and work hard, but we def didn’t get the typical Hyatt experience.

Thank you for your feedback. I do apologize that your stay was less than satisfactory. We do our very best to ensure our guests have the best stay possible. As for our pool and fitness center being closed during this time, unfortunately due to Covid the governor has ordered all pools be closed until further notice. Housekeeping stay over service is suspended as well due to Covid until further notice for the safety of our guests and our staff. To ensure guest receive fresh linen and other request, guest may call the front desk for assistance. The breakfast is still complimentary and has been modified since your stay with us to a hot to go breakfast. It is true, this property does not offer room service but guests are more than welcome to order at either of the restaurants and take their meal to their room. Thank you again for your review of the Hyatt House VB Oceanfront, and we hope you give us another opportunity to serve you the next time you visit Virginia Beach.

All the things that went wrong with my stay had nothing to do with COVID. Our reservation was screwed up they tried to put us in the wrong room. They raised the category level which didn’t let me use my points and yet the level of the service and cleanliness of the hotel has dropped two levels and I don’t see how they justified raising it a level. There is mold in the bathroom. They gave you bagged breakfast and by the way if you want a 6 oz coffee with your breakfast it will be $3.50 extra. I should’ve known from the beginning of my stay when I used the lobby bathroom there was toilet paper all over the floor and dirty toilet seat. You probably would’ve been better off checking in at Ecno Lodge next door and surely it would’ve been less money.

Was looking forward to a weekend away staying on the beach. This hotel did not meet expectations. When we arrived someone else’s food was still in the fridge and smelled gross. They didn’t come to make up our room even though we asked twice. Then when we called again they asked what we wanted when housekeeping came...to get the room made up obviously. Breakfast was below the Hyatt standard. Have had better offerings at every Hyatt place / house I have stayed at. On the plus side it is a nice location on the beach. If you’re coming to Virginia Beach and are a loyal customer stay at the new Hyatt place in Virginia Beach town center or you can try the new Marriott. Probably much better off in either of those.

The rooms are a decent size, so you can probably bring them to your room. We were there in November, so had no plans to lie on the beach. I think the valet parking is off-site, so you probably CAN'T go back to your car to get stuff out of it.
