My experience at this Hampton Inn was just okay. I really liked the location. That was the best thing going for it. The size & design of the room were also very nice. I liked that. However, the room had a bad odor to it. I couldn't tell if it was from a dog that had stayed in the room previously, but it smelled like dirty dog or stinky feet. That was not particularly welcoming. The bathroom floor also hadn't been swept or mopped. There was lots of long, black hair all over it as well as navy blue string. I am a short haired blonde, so the hair definitely wasn't mine. One of the washcloths was dirty. The fridge was a little dirty, and the table on the balcony was sticky. The room definitely needed a deeper cleaning. I usually leave cash for housekeeping, but I didn't this time. I paid extra for a room with a balcony. I am not so sure that I would do that again. My balcony was over the parking garage with a view of the other side of the hotel. It was not worth paying extra for. Also, the hall of the 7th floor was very warm. There seemed to be some kind of air-conditioning issue. I needed to get a sticker for the parking ticket everytime I went out of the garage. That was kind of annoying, and I would think that a better system would be in place. I was going to mention these issues to Tosha when I was checking out, but she was on the phone, so she just collected my keys & waved good-bye.…
Stopped in Roanoke for 2 days on a girl's trip. The rooms were georgous, clean and great location. We were able to do so much close to the hotel and within walking distance. The front desk receptionist was amazing, she was very friendly and check in was a breeze. During check in we met a manager named Samantha she was very informative on local eats and places we should try out while staying. If in VA will go here again!
I had reserved a room well in advance. I, reserved a room with two queen size beds and a balcony. We have been Hilton Honors members for quite some time. When we arrived at the Hotel, we gave the person at the desk our confirmation number. She handed us our room cards, and off we went to our room.. We opened the door to the room, and this is where everything went wrong. Instead of 2 beds, there was just one, and no balcony. We went back to the lobby, with our stuff, and told Tasha this was not the room I had reserved. After, checkng her computer, she said, yes, I forgot to tell you we gave your room to someone else, WHAT??? Tasha, told us the Hamoton saves three room to give away. We were not , and never cancelled our reservaton. We were tired, hungry, and nw, extremely upset. We drove down from Central New York to pick up my sister, there. She said we would have to take the room she gave us. I, told her it only had one bed, and there were three of us. She apologized and said she was the only one working the desk, this particular, Saturday night. She said she would bring up a rollaway bed, when she had a chance! We should have left, but, it was late, by ths time. Tasha brought up the rollaway bed, put the sheets on it, and proceeded to say I just it was their best quality matress.. I, just, laughed.. In the morning, when I turned in the room cards, I asked the girl at the desk about their policy of giving reserved rooms away before the guets arrive. She looked quite hungover, and asked me to rephrase the question. Are you kidding me?? I said, again, what is the Hamptons policy for giving a room away. Shelooked at me and said have a nice day!…
The good: The staff was welcoming and friendly. We chose this hotel for its location and walkability to downtown restaurants, etc. Parking was convenient, although confusing. We validated daily at front desk but were still charged $8 per day. The not so good: The expensive rate: ($300 per night) and we are Honors member and AAA for a regular King room with no views was not equivalent to the value received. We found out this rate was due due to two local college graduations and Mother's Day. For that rate we didn't expect unclean bathrooms, especially floors and discolored grout, elevator issues that left guests who got off the floor after us stuck inside for several minutes. The parking lot view and stained furniture was also a negative. Room 748 had a loud swarming noise that would only stop if door was opened or if you stuffed a towel along bottom of door. Sadly the hotel is aware of this yet put us in this room anyway without mention, so our first night was sleepless. The second night starting around 11:30 PM, there were very loud banging and scraping noises that woke us. Our son in room 744 could hear this loud banging too. Maybe they were working on the broken elevator? Not planning to stay here on future visits to Roanoke.…
A great hotel, great location downtown, just a few minutes walk to the city market and a convenient parking garage. Great staff at the front desk and the breakfast room. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in downtown Roanoke.
We had a great stay at this location. Centrally located which was great for our needs. Great,, friendly staff ready to give a pleasant greeting or answer questions we had. The room was gorgeous and the view excellent. We were in room 821.
This is a great location to be close to downtown. Walkable. Clean hotel. Friendly and responsive staff. Good breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. My family loved the hotel and all of the attractions that are nearby.
Convenient location, short walking distance to local shopping , restaurants and museums. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms, comfy beds. Great views of the city and mountains too. We've stayed here twice.
Usually our stays at this chain are fine. Rooms always super clean. Maybe it’s the long pandemic and workers shortage. The grouting in bath was brown in spots. The room was not well vacuumed. Same great beds, nice staff and perfect mattress and pillows. This hotel has a great location right in the historic part of town.
Stay Report - 11/20 to 11/21 Location: The hotel is indeed located in Downtown Roanoke on the corner of Church and Market Streets. You can walk to a lot of downtown restaurants and bars and the area around the hotel is actually very pleasant though it gets a little seedy if you go a few blocks west. It's also an easy 0.4 mile walk to the Roanoke Amtrak Station and about a 15 minute drive to ROA Airport. Hotel: The hotel is a bit oddly designed. There's a lobby on the first floor with some meeting space, a fitness center, two computer business center, breakfast area and snack shop, then floors 2-5 are a parking garage. The rooms are located on 6-9. Thankfully there were no issues with elevator waits and all the common areas are really nice. Check In: A friendly agent thanked me for being Diamond, offered me snack items and gave me the layout of the hotel. All employees I dealt with here were very friendly. Room: This is what I call the Courtyard style of room as the bed is perpendicular to the wall facing the window. I will say that there was a lot of dead space in the room and I would have appreciated a couch or a chair or similar. The Wifi did work well and there were outlets next to the bed along with a really good sized bathroom Breakfast: Full hot breakfast with biscuits and gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, waffle maker and the usual cold items. Overall a very good downtown option for the city. I'd be back. …
