This is a pleasant B&B with nice rooms, but the bathroom was lacking. Tubs with no separate showers, not unexpected in an older B&B, but we toke one look and decided not to use the in tub shower. The breakfast was unexceptional.
Lynn and Jack are excellent hosts. Welcomed us with tea tray , and later spent loads of time chatting with us out on the verandah. Bed super comfortable, and a lovely feel of a real home. Breakfast set us up for our long drive . Short walk into town where we found a rooftop bar.
Thank you Lynn and Jack for making our stay in your B&B so very pleasant. The home is beautiful, and we enjoyed a comfortable and peaceful rest after our long drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. So enjoyed Jack’s breakfast which set us up well for our day of museum visits. Thank you for the local history lessons and insights into O. Wilson Links. This information really added to our experience at the museums. Will stay with you once again when our travels bring us back into town.
The King George Inn is a well appointed and maintained older residence in an interesting Roanoke neighborhood near the center of the city. The charming host, Lynn Hunt, makes guests feel comfortably at home, and Jack, the chef in the kitchen, prepares delicious breakfasts from locally sourced items. If one provides notice a day or so in advance, dinner is also available - well prepared and beautifully presented in the gracious dining room.
We decided to look for a nice Bed and Breakfast Inn to stop over to break our long drive to Boston MA. What a delight to find The King George Inn located Roanoke Virginia. The owner and Innkeeper Ms Lynn was such a breath of fresh Air and such a delight, loved her stories. Chef Jack delivered amazing breakfast that was absolutely delicious. The Room was a delight as well . We ventured out to try the local restaurants. We tried the Local Roots Restarant, great dinner menu enjoyed! We have tried several bed and breakfasts this one ranges one of our favorites.
My wife and I had a wonderful visit with Jack and Lynn - their Inn is a wonderful property worth a stay. The decor, art and history within are simply enticing. Spring is a great time to visit and stay a while ....enjoy !!
We love the King George Inn and have been making it our go-to place to stay in Roanoke for 10 years. Lynn did a masterful job having the home restored and updated. Jack is a wonderful, creative chef. And although this is a BnB, dinner is available with advance request. Close to everything, the home is ideally located so one can easily get to know Roanoke. Still not sure of the area? Just ask Lynn! She's a wealth of knowledge about the history of Roanoke as well as the history of this stunning home that you, too, will come to know as "our place to stay in Roanoke."
We loved our stay at this gorgeous property. The house is sunny, clean, large (8+ square feet) and the bedrooms are comfortable with each having their own bathroom. Lynn was unexpectedly called out of town but Jack more than made up for her absence. He was interesting, funny and a great cook. Best of all, he treated our dog like royalty. She had lots of treats and didn’t want to go home. I highly recommend this B&B which is saying a lot since I don’t normally like this type of lodging. I have to say that this experience has changed my views on B&Bs and we will be back.
Great Inn. - the individual rooms were huge with separate bathrooms. Great food. And, the proprietor was amazing. Lynn is truly a people person with the patience of Job. Central location. Roanoke is a nice city.
We absolutley loved our stay. The home is gorgeous, beautifully decorated with antiques. Jack and Lynn were delightful and had so much knowledge about the area and shared life stories. We could have chatted with them an entire day. Our room was gorgeous and very clean (as was everywhere). Our breakfast was fantastic, of special note the fried green tomatoes from the garden..yum! We will be back!
