We were quite pleasantly surprised when we got to Shirley's b&b. Very nice rooms nice people and very comfortable. Plenty of deer in the yard any night. It's on a twisty two road outside of Roanoke but relatively close to restaurants Etc
Shirleys Bed and Breakfast is just wonderful. We enjoyed our second trip there this past week. Cheryl and Jeff are the best hosts. Their friendly, easygoing demeanor makes for a thoroughly enjoyable stay. They are so great about recommendations for restaurants and sites to see. The inn is quiet, clean, and beautifully decorated. We already made our reservation for next year.
We had a delightful one night stay here on a road trip to the Smoky Mountains. It's a beautiful B&B with attentive, cheerful innkeepers, and our room (Lavista Suite) was huge and very comfortable, with every amenity we could want. Unfortunately the innkeepers were not there the whole time as they left for a trip themselves, though nonetheless leaving the inn in the hands of a very capable innsitter. We would have enjoyed getting to know them better. Next time! (We will go back!)
Very friendly, spacious, comfortable, great breakfast and snacks, stunning setting … we loved it! Gail was a great host, and really helpful with recommendations. Just an overnight on a trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway, but we’ll be back for a longer stay.
A quick Google search, beautiful online photos and plenty of favorable reviews convinced me that Shirley's was the place I wanted to stay during a recent trip to Roanoke. From the moment I drove up, I knew I was gonna love it here. Shirley's is nestled in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by lush forests and mountains, just the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway. I stayed in the spacious Lavista Suite featuring a super comfortable king-sized bed, beautiful walk in shower and a jacuzzi tub. I especially enjoyed sipping a glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful mountain view from the room's spacious back deck. Jeff and Cheryl were the perfect hosts and prepared generous and delicious hot breakfasts each morning. They were such a delight and made my stay extra enjoyable. I loved everything about my experience there and can't wait to come back for another stay!…
A wonderful, beautiful and friendly place to stay. Our most enjoyable B&B during our trip to the SE US .Jeff and Cheryl Bennet were friendly folks and a great help in dining recommendations and directions. A spacious and beautiful large suite with totally unexpected complimentary wine both red and white and beer and a great home cooked to order breakfast. If you are going to Roanoke area for any reason this is the place to stay.
Me and my wife were traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway we had been on the road 8 hrs when we finally made it to Shirley's from the pictures we expected a nice place but we were blown away with the service the room the atmosphere cleanliness 5 STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH we will be back thanks for a great layover and complimentary OCTOBER FEST if your going to Roanoke stay here 50 times better than a hotel it's like being home
what a beautiful B&B in an amazing location - great service, very clean, delicious breakfast, and overall, super accommodating. I only was able to stay for one night - i was roadtripping Blue Ridge Pkway South to North. I would definitely come back to stay here in the future.
This is the right inn in the wrong place. At least that was the case when I was planning a trip along Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was looking for accommodations halfway between Big Meadow Lodge and Asheville, which is roughly 50 miles south of Roanoke. I kept expanding my search from my target, and kept expanding until my window included Roanoke. No, I didn't want to stay that far north, but Shirley's listing was intriguing. It's also different. Most B&Bs are in historic properties. Shirley's is a recently constructed log home. Shirley's is also located off the beaten path, in the outskirts of Roanoke County. I kept searching, and kept coming back to Shirley's listing. Their website is charming, and the innkeeper's personality shined through the pixels. Sold. We arrived on a hot Saturday afternoon, and found a note on the door. The innkeepers are in the pool, come in, walk through the room, and out the sliding doors onto the deck. We followed the instructions, and Cheryl hopped out of the pool, dried herself off, and showed us to our room. The Lookout Suite is huge, probably the size of our two bedroom condo. The room is nicely furnished, and it has a bunch of beautiful artifacts from old cars scattered throughout. Look for the two headed red parking meter in the common area. It's a great bed, enhanced with spectacular silky soft sheets. This is an inn that focuses on hospitality. They provide complimentary beer and wine, and you are welcome to take your adult beverage down to the pool. The inn is about 15 minutes from downtown Roanoke, which has a nice variety of restaurants. Shirley's was about 50 miles north of where I thought I wanted to be, but it turned out to be exactly where I wanted to be.…
This beautiful B&B is located just minutes outside the city which allowed us to be close to the hiking and greenway during the day and the restaurants and Blue Cow (ice cream) at night. Jeff and Cheryl are wonderful hosts and the highlights of the stay were the delicious breakfasts, the refreshing pool, and watching the wildlife (deer and a raccoon). We will return the next time we visit Roanoke.
